He brought his madness from Uber thread to this place. He doesn't have facts, just guess work in the most stupid manner. Kindly ignore the psycho in your own interest. |

Pearl1910: Considering his mode of operation, Its a handsome income. I dont expect him to make more, starting work after morning rush hour and barely working more than 2trips at evening rush hour while working only within VI and Lekki phase 1 all through the afternoon. Sometimes u really need to know how people work when they say d job isn't paying so u understand their POV.
Coming to dollar comparison of the income, don't even go there. It's universal and I doubt u earn more than $10 daily in your 8-5 job. Thank God you used the word "universal" in your last paragraph. There's a global price index that Nigeria is not immune of since we are largely a consuming nation, we import almost everything including cars and their parts. When your income is not flowing with global price of goods and services, you will find it hard to keep your head above water. That's why we must always check how much we earn and it's worth in dollars (as the global economy is powered by dollars). Almost everything you buy into your household is measured in dollars. Therefore, we cannot afford to discard that dollar comparison as it relates to our income.. Earning less than 10dollars a day in this country is living below poverty level. Anyone in that sphere must strive to come out of it. |

Omoapena: There's drastic shortage of drivers sef because it's no longer soft work, reason why bolt will be giving someone 4km to 6km distance pick up with about 15mins to 20mins drive and they won't still give one privilege to cancel such trip...
I was in Ikeja isaac john yesterday and they kept giving me trips from gbagada, oshodi, ilupeju, Allen and ogudu.
I decline all and they blocked me for 24hours, forcefully giving me a break I don't want... That's it my brother. People are turning their back on the business, that's the reason you have shortage of drivers. When you drive for 8 straight hours and you struggle to meet up with basic needs despite the fat dashboard, you just know is quit time. It also highlights why djkayzee231 was unable to fix his knocked engine until his partner stepped in. When you have major issues to sort out with the tool (car) you use for the business, you're simply left in limbo. It doesn't make sense. Not being negative but just true situation report. |

Omoapena: Honestly, there's no soft work in the hustle anymore, imagine driving 8hours only to go home with 10k when before this fuel palava, I will drive 3hours and go home with 13k just by setting ajah from mushin and setting Ikeja from ajah...
And 2k fuel which was 10litres will cover both trips for me... That's the point. For a man with kids, he will need to buy cereals, fuel for generator at home, food for his children, other household items on his way home with just 10k? Tell me how much he will have left to even pay bills and fix his car subsequently. Soft work indeed. |

Pearl1910: Sir, if this is really true then u haven't been fair by your judgement of ehailing.
You work approx 8hrs and make profit of roughly 15k after fuel and Commission. Let's not forget you drive a Toyota Camry Muscle with 2.4litre engine, but even at that u make a handsome figure daily with what I call soft work. He said he makes 26k in some days which includes 10k fuel and 20% commission. If you deduct the commission and fuel, he will have 10k left after 8hrs of hustling on an average day. Now, if you deduct other expenses incurred, his take home will not be more than 7k at most or even less. For Christsake, he's going home with 7dollars after eight hours of hard labour, hardly enough to buy groceries on his way back home. Coming to your point, it's a terrible return on investment after eight solid hours of work. This is no soft work as you term it. |

Conner44: Of course i know he will still come out to post thrash soon, i dey wait am. I was just looking at you engaging that troll before. It's better you leave him and his quotes or mentions. You can't achieve anything from him intellectualy or otherwise. He isn't here to help anybody in any way but to destroy whatever was built here. Can you count how many people he has attacked and abused here? He has even already turned around to attack the ones that first cheered him on when his madness started manifesting.
He only comes here to cause trouble and confusion with his lies. He's the singular reason this thread is the way it is today. When he first came out here with his slander and libels I was the only one who went out of my way to engage him for the real truth to come out but lie lie, till today kwusai
I can't count how many times I've calmed down to ask what his problem with cheerfulgiver is, he will say one thing today and change it to another thing tomorrow. Let me not even begin to talk about the numerous monikers he operates here to attack different people for frivolous reasons (forget about the rest of the forum) I can count at least 7 of them he operates on this thread alone.
This thread was okay and useful so far, for all of its over 5,000 pages until the troll showed up , its not as if we no dey engage in banters and vawulence sessions here before oh, but we all do it in a matured way. That guy just came here and messed up everything.
But what really perplexed me was the way the veterans and agbas on this thread all kept mum at that initial time when he started raving with his madness, maybe it was because they were already silently antagonistic against CheerfulGiver for posting his usually huge dashboards OR they were scared of the troll digging up their names and pictures to post here like he did for me and dru23 . . . Or maybe it's just the way we Nigerians are. We see black and call it white. We truly deserve the type leaders we get.
Now everyone who is serious with the ehailing have abandoned the thread. They would have been here keeping the information flowing if not for some people's envy, jealousy and Badbelle. Newbies or struggling folks can't get helpful tips and tricks here again like before. I have said it before and i will still say it again, in the almost 20 years I've been active on this forum this is the one thread with the highest amount of active cowards and two-faced folks I have ever encountered .
Well, heaven knows I did my best, I shouted and screamed my voice hoarse, telling people to manage each other or leave those who want to stay on the road to drive and stop badmouthing their hustle witnout presenting any alternatives . . . Sooteey they called me twerker, Mr. cho-cho-cho talkative lol chai! Una wey dey this thread ehn . . . in fact, make I no talk everything wey dey my mind finish for now.

As long as the under tree feeds me and my family couple with the side hustle of sugar mummies and I don’t do bambialla for peanuts on this page or any other page then boss my contentment equals my peace of mind.
You just prove my formal quote of your wisdom is inversely proportional to your age. Am a graduate from one of the highest paying private university without loans or grants and abeg from church members like some village schooled fool that is your godfather here and you think am a poor church rat? Wow I think your foolishness needs to be studied. I have homeboys that passed through that school. They happen to have gone there in the earliest days of that school due to their inability to score good grades in jamb. Damn! You all brag on this thread. It's really not what I'm good at, I didn't grow up that way but I was born lucky just to douse your curiosity a bit . My little nephews are in Babcock schooling as a matter of fact, not one , not two. So your purported big time school is something I can wipe my ass with. As old as you are, you are still bragging about a school, Babcock for that matter The unfortunate thing about this scenario is that you left a high end school (high end in only your eyes) and ended up under a tree in Oshodi. What sort of theory is that? Does that add up or make sense? How did your big man parents let you remain under a tree running after Korokpe for patronage after spending millions on you in school as you claimed? To make matters worse, you became a street urchin in the dirty lousy streets of Oshodi after fxxxking millions were wasted on you in school. That again doesn't make sense. My simple verdict is that you were trained in school by an uncle that you lived with as a house boy and you were left to your fate after school. That's where your pathetic life took a turn for the worse because you can no longer hack it on your own. Another plausible scenario is that you are a bloody liar parading a Chicago state university certificate from Babcock. You had to embrace quackery as a source of livelihood. If you have chip on your shoulders, I have times twenty of it and can only put you your place little man |

Conner44: [s]Ehailing in lagos is dead yes its true. It is totally dead.
Once upon a time when people like pearl and cheerful were posting huge dashboards to motivate others we never knew that some few ones already knew ehailing was on its last legs and dangling by a thread.
They were seriously advising other Drivers to stop listening to dubious posters that call themselves drivers on this thread showing fake dashboards and port to something better or suffer for life and risk losing their eyesight and proper body posture in the course of driving.
After all, back then ehailing was already terribly unprofitable to those same set of people, then out of nowhere, Tinubu and his governance came into the picture and has finally killed off ehailing for good.
But in the end we still give proper and major thanks to the Almighty all because after the advices and bants (coming from the usual suspects) concerning the wellbeing of their fellow struggling Drivers and their families on this thread . . .
most Drivers are wiser now They have applied for and secured good salaried jobs
many Drivers are more focused today They have all learnt soft tech skills and are landing lucrative remote work contracts
past Drivers are prudent now No more buying fuel anyhow and checking mpgs everyday just to be moving the whole of lagos upandan. Now they move just themselves and families
all the stubborn Drivers went broke They have sold off their vehicles and gone back to their villages
So coming to this thread today to seek updated knowledge concerning everyday ehailing struggles in lagos is no longer possible. Nobody drives on ehailing again. Everybody has moved on to greater things, taking helicopter from lekki to ikeja. . . or are treking, cycling, Jumping danfo and flying bike upandan or are just plain broke.
If you are outside on the road and see any corolla or civic carrying someone it's definitely private and all the moove suzukis you see have been privatised. That's the reality some people here want us to accept. Their insider source told them that Uber is getting ready to shutdown operations in nigeria, bolt have already threaded water long enough and Indrive is just . . . there, let's not even talk about rida.
Infact if you're coming to tbis thread today it's just to reminisce about old times and reach out to people you miss who you haven't seen their posts in a while like a few members do these days . Just to check if people are still alive or dead . . . Then the other member might come out and post stuff like "I am fine, just busy travelling for work and getting major allowances. Too busy to post " and that will be the end of their discussion till when loneliness triggers another call-out between them.
This is the current reality on the nairaland lagos uber thread today AND WE ARE TOTALLY HAPPY AND CONTENTED WITH THE SITUATION OF THE TREAD
So please, newbies seeking information should start from page one and read up to page 5000, anyone who has a question can post and pray the 'serious' drivers take out time to reply their posts and the old usual members can continue using this thread as their avenue to relieve stress and pass time with their cruise and bants. After giving so much information and experience for the past 7 years and over 5000 pages on this thread they believe they have earned the right to do with this thread as they please. It is not their fault that stubborn or less fortunate drivers hadn't moved on to other businesses or professional engagements since all the months that they had been shouting and warning, so let nobody blame them.
Instead blame yourselves for still attempting to invest in or are still driving on any ehailing platforms in nigeria after all the warnings the more experienced ones gave here or still attempting to come here for information, tips and tricks concerning ehailng.
So when people wonder why the thread has suddenlygone cold and dead, why drivers no longer post or update stuff here . . . It is simply because THEY HAVE ALL MOVED ON and I think you should do so too[/s][/s] [/s] [/s] Thrash! |
