Ohh yeah I found that out later. That looks cool. Have you been there? How is it over there?
ProgrammingIs There An Equivalent To Ihub On Nigeria? by thenabster(op): 4:47am On Nov 03, 2013
I have known about iHub in Kenya for some time now and I really love their center. It's as good as what you'll find in the Silicon Valley and normal Kenyans can build cools startups or learn how to code. Anyway, I was wondering if there was an equivalent of iHub in Nigeria. A place as huge as Nigeria with all the coders there are, it would be a shame there isn't a coding community center like iHub in a big city like Lagos.
ComputersReflap, My Startup by thenabster(op): 3:35am On Sep 28, 2013
Hey guys,
I just wanted to present to you my startup I have been working on for a year. It's called Reflap and it has about 10000 users already. It's a web app to make and receive free video calls like skype or whatever. However as opposed to skype, it's on the web so you don't have to download any software and also with your call address anyone can call you for free even if they are a Reflap user. The video calls are great quality and it's super easy to make or receive your calls. There are more features like group video chats and a feature for meeting people on the website. There is also an android app for Reflap and an iOS app is coming soon.

It would be awesome if you guys checked it out. If there's any questions, don't hesitate to ask me. Cheers!

Start with the Android tutorial where you create the hello world app, http://developer.android.com/training/basics/firstapp/index.html

Then as long as you learn java and ask questions online you will slowly pick it up.

Jobs/VacanciesRe: Do Footballers And Sportmen Deserve Higher Wage by thenabster(m): 6:03am On Sep 02, 2013
Afam4eva: Yes, they deserve a higher pay because football clubs make more money than most hospitals and media houses. Clubs make their money through endorsements and adverts which usually come in billions, so, the pay these footballers get is in tandem with the amount of money in their industry. I also noticed that you used the example of a nurse and a firefighter to make it seem as if people that are helping others don't make much whereas footballers are indirectly putting smiles on people's faces by entertaining them. Do you know that the only thing that unites Nigeria is football. When a football match is going on, everybody forgets their tribal and religious affiliation and hold their hands in brotherhood to support their team. Let's not stretch it. Sports and especially football is big business and the employees of big businesses will also make big money. When most hospitals become multi-million dollar companies, then nurses will be paid very well. Even in developed countries nurses are paid reasonably well cos a lot of hospitals there are very big and make a lot of money.
What this guy said. It's simple business. If I bring $100 to a company, I deserve a big part of it.

Hey guys,
So I remember posting the project I was working in the thread titled "What are you working on". So yeah I basically had launch a video chat web app called Reflap which allowed users to call each other for free. Anyway for the past two-three weeks I've been working on an android app for the web app and today I launched the Android app for Reflap. It's available right now on the Play store and it allows you to chat with your friends for free all the time, read and send private messages, manage your Reflap contacts, and some other stuff. I will be adding group chat and video chat to the app soon as well. I'm quite stocked that I went from zero to app in less than three weeks especially that it was the first time I really played with Android.

Anyway it will be great if you guys download the app and give me some feedback. Also if you want to ask development questions as well, fire away.

ProgrammingRe: What Is Wrong If African Coders Build An Online Payment System For Africans? by thenabster(m): 12:35am On Jun 29, 2013
Are you talking about an African Paypal of the sort? If so, even though it's a great idea there are a few obstacles depending on the country. In Cameroon, probably like 1%(or less) of the population have a credit or debit card. Everyone deals with cash, so how will they be able to transfer their cash money to an online account for payments? Even those with bank accounts, the banks have no online banking system. So there won't be an easy way to transfer you money to an online account. The company that tries to make the online payment would have to either build a network for the online payments of the customers and a system, to allow bank tellers to manually transfer customers money to their online account. That becomes expensive and not user friendly. You could also launch atms all over Africa to allow people to deposit cash money straight to their bank account. Very expensive. In a country like Cameroon the best options would be to allow people to buy a card (like a cellphone card) for a certain amount that you can use the pin at home to credit your account with the money.

But then it depends on the country. I assume Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya probably have a better credit and debit card population and probably better online banking structures.

WebmastersRe: Webmasters, Showcase Your Projects Here by thenabster(m): 11:53am On Jun 02, 2013
Here is what I have been working on for the past few months. It's called Reflap and it's a web app that allows you to audio and video chat with friends, family, anyone for free. There are more features like free group chats, meeting people online, taking pictures etc. Also when you register you set yourself up with a call address which is your phone number, so anyone that knows you call address can call you.

The website is growing well right now, I have over 3000 users. So yeah, it will be awesome if you guys took it for a spin, shared it and also told me what you think of it. Cheers! http://www.reflap.com

WebmastersReflap, A New Video Chat Website Trying To Destroy Phone Numbers by thenabster(op):
Hey guys, I have been working on this website for the past year and a half and I was finally able to launch it. It's called Reflap and it's a website to allow you to always stay in contact with your friends and family by voice and video chat. I'm not trying to spam, but I just wanted to showcase it to you guys and those that want to take it for a spin, can. If you have any feedback you can just shoot it by me.

Also it may seem like another voip website, by contrary to skype and the others, we are using permanent links to keep you in contact, you set your own link when you signup like your email address. Also you can make quick video calls to reflap contacts or to any friends that isn't a user. Same goes with group chats.

So yeah it would be great if you guys took it for a spin and told me what you think.
