Grand Commander of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, has through his Senior Special Assistant on Media, Garba Shehu, prayed for the families of Kagara School kidnapped students. Garba Shehu said this via his social media handle while reacting to the incidence which happened in the early hours of Wednesday where at least, one students have been feared killed and several others missing. Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State has donated N18.5 million to 185 indigenes of the state who were victims of the Shasha market mayhem in Ibadan. Alhaji Garba Mohammed, Kano State Commissioner for Information, who led the state government delegation, gave each of the victims N100,000 on Tuesday in Ibadan. The house of representatives is seeking to raise the minimum qualification for journalists in the country to bachelor’s degree or higher national diploma (HND) in journalism or other related courses. The proposal is contained in the Nigerian Press Council Amendment Bill 2019 sponsored by Francis Agbo, the lawmaker representing Ado/Ogbadigbo/Okpokwu federal constituency. The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has said it would spend not less than N100 million on the prosecution of 200 out of the over 400 persons involved in impersonation in the 2020 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME. This came as the board hinted of proliferation of fraudulent Computer Based Test, CBT, centres in some parts of the North. It also disclosed that over 400 candidates currently seeking admissions into institutions across the country were involved in admission fraud, alleging that some tertiary institutions were accomplices in the widespread irregularities.
