Politics80 Percent Of Nigerian Policemen Provide Personal Security For Prominent Nigeria by thenewtribe(op): 8:00pm On Feb 08, 2018
The Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG), Zone 5, Rasheed Akintunde, says only 20 per cent of policemen are engaged in protecting lives and ensuring peace in the country.

“The remaining 80 per cent are just busy providing personal security to some `prominent people’ on guard duties.

Mr. Akintunde said this on Thursday while addressing officers and men of the Police Headquarters in Bayelsa, during his tour.

He decried the situation where some prominent people in the society seek more than 30 policemen to protect them, while the bulk of work for the members of the force rest on protecting the masses.

“Every big man wants personal security, they want a number of policemen to come and secure them and their family members, instead of supporting the police to work and ensure a safer environment.

“Honourable members want police security, even Reverend Fathers, Bishops now want police security, so the remaining 20 per cent police the whole country.

“If we can redistribute policemen from some government formations and deploy them to work on their core duty, it will yield positive result,’’ he noted.

The AIG, however, urged all the officers in the command to be on their toes and be committed to their duties.

He also reminded them of the need to do their jobs with integrity and exhibit high level of professionalism in order to create good image for the force.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Don Awunah, while welcoming the AIG, promised to ensure that the officers and men of the command remained focus on their duty of protecting lives and maintaining law and order in the state.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that zone 5 comprises Bayelsa, Delta and Edo States.

RomanceBotswana Lawmakers Ban Sex Dolls by thenewtribe(op): 11:12pm On Feb 02, 2018
Botswana lawmakers have placed an embargo on the importation of sex dolls for men.

This is as contained in a section of their law that disavows men from copulating with sex dolls.

According to Section 178 of the Botswana Penal Code, bringing intimacy gadgets in Botswana is an offence.

The law further abolishes the right to “possess, lend, trade in, export, import, and or exhibit obscene objects or any objects tending to corrupt morals in Botswana,” which includes sex dolls.

Women have continued to express their continued hate and disapproval for sex dolls as they believe that the potential competition will cause a surge in the rise of divorce rates and tamper human relationships as well.

Some questioned the ability of sex dolls to bear children, support the man and the home emotionally and do the house chores.

A social worker with expertise in complicated marriages, mental health and addiction is less positive about the sudden demand for sex dolls.

She fears men will eventually prefer sex with robots over human love making.

Making reactions have continued to make the rounds over this new development of the Botswana Government, as some described the treatment to men as unfair since women still get to keep other items like vibrators to aid their sexual desires.

Romance5 Signs Your Marriage Isn’t As Strong As You Think It Is by thenewtribe(op): 10:59pm On Feb 01, 2018
You may not have had a big blowup in ages, but just because you and your guy are not having knock-down-drag-out arguments all the time doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re happily married. In fact, most marriages don’t fall apart because of big things, like cheating. “Often, it’s the buildup of years of resentment over lots of little annoyances that suck the love out of a marriage,” says Melissa Cohen, LCSW, a relationship therapist.

And while it’s totally normal for the excitement, newness, and passion to fade a bit as your relationship wears on, your marriage still needs to be nourished if you want to see it succeed. Some of the following behaviours might not seem like a big deal, but they can be insidious—and your marriage might be a little worse-for-the-wear. “These signs speak loud and clear. You and your partner have to start putting more effort and engagement into your relationship to get it back on track.” And while the happiness quotient in your marriage won’t change overnight if you just ditch these habits, the transition to a lasting and loving marriage will come in time if you start prioritising your relationship.

Your spouse is not your go-to person anymore.
Got big news? Something stressing you out that you really need to get off your chest? If you don’t think to share it with your spouse first, then there is something amiss in your connection. Couples obviously need to share the minutiae of day-to-day life to keep their home functioning; but what really strengthens the relationship is the deeper conversations about what’s happening in their lives. Couples in thriving relationships engage in emotional self-disclosure and want to remain intimately connected to each other’s inner worlds.

You’re overly focused on yourself.
A marriage starts to weaken when both people start to become so centrally focused on just their family, home, and work life. When we couple up with someone, we typically combine our individual, interesting worlds to create a whole other, potentially more interesting world that helps us grow. As we get deeper into marriage and into our families, those extras can start to dwindle due to lack of time, energy, and obligations.

As a result of years of self-neglect, we begin to over compensate: You might start to exercise a lot, work longer hours, or spend more time with your friends—which becomes the priority and takes away time from the relationship. Try to take the focus off of yourself and support your partner in also doing things that help them grow. Even better: Find some activities that you can share outside of being parents or spouses. If we allow our partners time to do the things that help them grow, then they will allow the same for us. And you won’t feel the need to be greedy with your me-time.

You’re comparing your partner to others—and not in a good way.
Do you ever think, “I wish my husband was more like Susie’s husband” or “I deserve someone who would bring me flowers every day?” “When you start comparing your partner or relationship to others, you’ve got one foot out the door,”. Maybe you won’t actually act on it and leave, but it’s a sign that you’re mentally checked out. The pop culture supports this negative thinking—drinking wine every night and complaining about what’s not great in your life is a common thread on social media and reality TV shows. But it’s a hidden marriage killer. If you’re annoyed all the time, you are sour on the inside and just swimming in negativity; amp up the positivity, quit complaining, and do a self-check on whether your contrary feelings toward your partner are actually valid.

You’re not fighting, but you’re not loving either.
Remember how we said that just because you’re not arguing doesn’t mean you’re actually happy? This usually means the person is so disengaged that they won’t even fight anymore. Arguing is a good indicator of investment in the relationship (in fact, here are 6 fights every happy couple should have). Ask yourself: Is a happy marriage worth fighting for?

Hopefully, the answer is yes, and all you have to do is up the positivity factor—immensely. “Start by being grateful and noticing how great your life is with your partner. Take a step back and look at the routine things that you’ve taken for advantage. And start creating a culture of gratitude by saying thank you for everything. Thank your partner for taking out the trash, for looking hot on date night, or even for folding the laundry. It feeds their ego—and they will probably start being more appreciative of you.

You’re leading separate lives.
Do you go to bed at separate times? Watch TV in different rooms? Go out with your friends without each other? If so, you’re lacking in intimacy, and not just the physical kind. “Intimacy is a strongly knit personal bond that exists in the bedroom and beyond, and it affects nearly every aspect of our lives. The more you isolate yourself from one another, the more you will feel a sense of disconnection.

Love suggests taking the time to have a monthly check-in with your partner to purposely reconnect and establish a balance of where you are in your relationship and in life. It’s vital to take the time to set goals and develop action plans as a couple for your emotional lives just as you would planning a vacation or purchasing a house. Choosing to spend time with your partner instead of isolating yourself will go a long way in deepening your intimacy and communication with your partner—and preventing the end of your relationship.

''Big-brained adults start out life as big-brained babies, so evolution came into conflict with itself. On the one hand, female hominins had to maintain a narrow pelvis with a constricted birth canal in order to walk efficiently on two legs. Childbirth became a distressingly painful and potentially lethal business, and it remains so to this day.''

PoliticsPerils Of Kwankwasiyya/gandujiyya Square Off by thenewtribe(op): 8:38pm On Jan 29, 2018
By now Nigerians are used to seeing political godsons turn against their godfathers.

Since 1999, every powerful Nigerian politician who anointed another person as a state governor or as president lived to regret it, with a few exceptions. I have counted nearly thirty Nigerian godfathers that were repudiated by their anointed godsons soon after they won elections.

(1) The most notorious case was in Anambra State in 2003 when Governor Chris Ngige was abducted by his godfather, Chris Ubah. Ngige had even been made to write a post-dated resignation letter in case he failed to toe the line.

(2) This experience did not stop Governor Willie Obiano from repudiating his godfather, former governor Peter Obi, as soon as he took over in 2014.

PoliticsINTERVIEW: We’ll Forget Biafra On One Condition, Says IPOB Spokesman by thenewtribe(op): 11:19pm On Jan 26, 2018
For some years now, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has been on the forefront in the struggle for the creation of a sovereign state.

With the absence of Nnamdi Kanu, its leader, during the time of Operation Python Dance, as well as the branding of the group as a terrorist organization, many believe the end is near for the group.

But in this email interview with TheCable, Emma Powerful, spokesman of IPOB, said contrary to such belief, the group is more formidable now than it has ever been.

He also spoke on a variety of issues including what has become of IPOB in Kanu’s absence, if the group would accept an option to dialogue with the federal government, the newly launched Hausa radio service as well as what a sovereign state of Biafra will look like.
