I was going to like your comment until I saw the bolded. My system has zero tolerance for sectionalism.
This is not about sectionalism. You missed the whole point. The southern part of Nigeria are more materialistic than the north. The north also have their issues which are mostly religious. They commit crimes based on their religious beliefs. This thread is about kidnapping and it is caused by the materialistic nature of southern Nigeria. we are too materialistic, including where I come from, simple |
me1234: It very easy to berate mike on his plea for amnesty for these kidnappers, but if you or your father or family members has ever been kidnapped am sure you will change your stance. However am on the opinion that government should as a matter of urgency create jobs for our youths and create enabling environment for small scale businesses to thrive. Soft loans for graduates who want to go into business and at least five years tax moratorium for them. In fact naija matter don tire me sef.If what these kidnappers need is job and soft loans, dont you think they would have already stopped the kidnapping since most of them have already made like 5 million at one time or the other? |
It is a fat lie. Nobody is pushed into kidnapping because of unemployment. They go into it because of greed and materialism. People should stop trying to justify criminals. 1. If they went into it because of unemployment, why dont they pull out and start a business after making like 10 million Naira? 2. If poverty and unemployment is the cause for crime, wont more than half of Nigeria be armed robbers and kidnappers? 3. So why do we have criminals, drug dealers, kidnappers and armed robbers in the USA? Humans will always be evil when they want to be. The greatest cause for kidnapping is greed. When a man does not know contentment, he will always go out and do whatever he can do to satisfy his greed. That does not in anyway excuse government from doing their duty. Government really needs to do a lot but society itself has to have a kind of renaissance. The Nigerian society is too materialistic and that puts enormous pressure on the average youth, especially from some sections of the country |
Outrage from who? APC supporters? hahahahahahaha! Inconsequential gang! ![]() |
dheaven: Will this stop police men from taking bribe and unlawful detention? What do you think will most likely help to reduce bribery in the police. A bad training experience in a bad environment or a good one in a good environment. Take your pick. |
emmysenior: I need to see the facilities on the inside... else I can't be convinced.Does it matter whether you are convinced or not? The police recruits using it are more than convinced. They are most grateful and their lives are better now. That is all that is important. Some of you think too highly of yourselves. It is not about you. It is about those whose lives have improved. |
This is police college, before and after GEJ visited. Nice

Missonas: We often look for flaws in whatever the pope or any man of God says or do when we should living our lives iin joy and peace.the statement made sounded more like 'If you won't believe in God then live a free life doing good to youself and all around you'.what's wrong with that?there's free will.no one knows how God wll judge us all He alone doesThe bible is clear on how God will judge all men. Except you dont believe the bible, which is your choice |
damerry: Gbam! Critics please answer the bolded. God bless the pope joor. You have to understand the bible. The bible is not subject to your thinking or the popes thinking. Let me ask you a simple question. Does the law of gravity care about what you think? Spiritual laws are what they are, spiritual laws. They are not subject to our opinions. The simple issue here is if you believe the bible or not. If you dont, well God help you. But if you profess that you do believe the bible, then you must follow what it says. The problem with what the pope said is that he professes that he is following Jesus CHrist and at the same time, he is preaching something that is anti Jesus Christ. He has a right to have his own opinion, but certainly that is not God's opinion as clearly spelt out in the Word of God. Jesus stated clearly and unequivocally, I am THE WAY, THE TRUTH and THE LIFE. No man comes to the father, except through me. John 14:14. |
1. He/she defines the word “PROGRESSIVE” as all those against Mr President. 2. All factional PDP members are progressives temporally and will hold such titles until their return to the true PDP. 3. He/she is quick to remind you that Mr. President agreed or signed a single tenure agreement. Parties to this agreement are usually not mentioned except Mr. President. 4. He/she tells you Mr. President’s achievements are associated with past administrations. Like all the roads and airports upgrades were initiatives of Yaradua and Obasanjo’s administrations. 5. He/she will defend anyone that speaks against the President, be it a criminal. 6. His/her comments are always a distraction from the main update of discussion. Their major objective is to divert attention of all updates to ‘corruption in Nigeria’ their favorite topic, and will never mention a corrupt member of the APC or other persons associated with the opposition. 7. Their comments are incoherent to previous comments of theirs as they are quick to switch stands depending on the update of discussions at the time. 8. He/she reminds you that only the Ijaws are in support of Mr. President’s administration even when arguing with his/her own kinsman. 9. Any of his/her kinsman that is not Ijaw that supports Mr. President is paid to do so. While the stooges are patriotic. 10. He/she on one hand will say Mr.President is a weak President and in another hand that he is a dictator…. 11. He/she will claim the President is not fighting corruption but will claim any Nigerian that is prosecuted is witch hunted, because he has fallen out of favour with Mr. President. 12. He/she cannot make developmental reference to compare with the APC ruled states at any given time because in truth, they have none that is favorable. |
simpleseyi: The same way impatient jonathan told us that the African First Ladies Mission was private sector driven, yet the lying sheppopotamus lobied the national assembly to pass a budget of 4 or 6 billion naira (too many billions everyday, that I can't remember how much is for what) for the so called African First Ladies Mission House to be built in Abuja after trying unsuccessfully to snatch the parcel of land which Turai Yar'Adua fraudulently got for herself in a case of one thief trying to rob another thief. Why do you people think you can win with lies and more lies. Truth will always prevail over lies. No matter how much you people try. keep trying and lying! |
Now we can settle down and look forward to uninterrupted power supply Now we can stop worrying because the onus is on the electricity company to deliver or they wont make money and their investment will go down the drain. This is the beauty of privatization. Now the customer will become the king. We do not expect it to be perfect immediately, but we know, just like the telecom privatization, it will continue to grow and get better. |
1stCitizen: Which young ones?So these are the only young Nigerians you know? Shows you only get your information from NL. Very myopic post! |
Blackteeth: Buhari maybe a tribalist, But I think its better Buhari comes in and develops only the entire north than a president who cannot develop any part of Nigeria. How can Buhari develop the entire north when he was amongst the people that destroyed it? He had 20 months as a head of state and another 5 years as the chairman of the biggest government development agency in the history of Nigeria. He is a monumental failure and will always be |
wasak: ignorance is a disease... the higher it is... d less aware u are... read a book about Nigeria plsIgnorance about what? I can bet you are a kid who was not born in 1983. Some of us were alive and kicking then. We know Buhari first hand. We know the coward, bigot and eediot first hand. We know all his atrocities and human rights violations. We know how he imprisoned Babatope, a right hand man to Awolowo because he criticized his excesses. We know how he collaborated with Abacha to steal money through the PTF. We know how he championed Sharia with the pedophile, Yerima, and set the tone for the rise of BH. We know how he refused to appear before the Oputa panel to answer all the accusations against him but choose to abscond like IBB so he will not be ridiculed for who he is. We know how he hid in Idiagbon's pants for 20 months and got booted out when Idiagbon travelled to Mecca. We know how he contributed nothing to the progress of Nigeria both as a head of state for 20 months and as the chairman of PTF for almost five years when he squandered and looted almost 200 billion. We know him first hand. |
Bizibi: why do you want to know??Ignore the foool. That is how they talk when they have been found out! |
ssii: We need Buhari for one term to start the corruption fight.Buhari has a vision? WOw, that is news!!! Buhari can fight corruption? That is also serious news!!! Is this Buhari you are referring to a relative of anyone we know? Is he a Nigerian? |
“I CAN tell you that PHCN has almost ceased to exist now. Once the Transitional Electricity Market is declared in a few weeks time, that is the end of PHCN. Functionally, it has ceased to exist, but there must be a formal hand-over and once that takes place, they will finally cease to exist.”http://ngrguardiannews.com/national-news/132462-ems-replaces-phcn-interstate-ele |
damola1: Even with a OD on my UBA a/c. Had to dump the crappy bank. Always wasting 2-3hrs on queue ( GT is guilty of this too). Can you freaking believe it. They have a charge on internet banking.. they call it monthly charges. I laugh in chinese.I have been banking with UBA since 2002. Never regreted it one day. When you travel around Nigeria, then you will know that the only serious banks are first bank and UBA. GTB only exists in major towns. First bank is the most automated bank in Nigeria right now. You know nothing about Nigerian banks really. First bank is the only bank where their Internet banking, Mobile app, and mobile wallet all work. UBA Internet banking is excellent, but the mobile app still sucks. GTB mobile app is nothing but a marketing app. Not functional at all. Like I said before, UBA, FCMB and First bank are the most reliable when you want to transfer money to account holders in other banks. It is instant transfer and instant alert. Do you know so many ATMs in other banks premises reject GTB ATM cards. Zenith for me is the best when it comes to ATMs. Their ATM machines are the best and they maintain them well. UBA is terrible when it comes to ATM machines. I dont praise or chide any particular bank. I just tell it as it is |
damola1: Choi.. Bros, no let me yab you oh.I can bet my car you are a student trying to justify your patronage of GTB. GTB customer service is crap all day. Please call UBA customer care now and tell everyone here the truth what happened. Financially, First bank is the biggest bank in Nigeria by a thousand miles. No other bank even comes close. The asset base of First bank in 2 states alone can buy GTB. You have no clue of Nigerian banking system. First bank borrowed the IIL consortium 18 billion some years ago and lost everything, yet they didn't even shake a finger. How many branches does GTB have? They are not even amongst the first 3 banks. Anybody can just come out and claim what they are not. The same way GTB came out and claimed they were the first to do cash receiving ATMs when First bank had been doing it for over 6 months before they even smelt it. That is how Oceanic bank used to claim a lot of awards all over the place till they crashed. GTB student bank and her student bankers. lol |
damola1: What you've there is a business that's built by jokers and managed by irresponsible idiots. I have my own share of complaint, long long list, I won't bore you with them.GTB is a students bank that has become a real pain in the last one year. I dont even accept a GTB cheque except I have no choice. That bank is just hot air, nothing else. They remind me of the old All states trust bank that later crashed. GTB is a very poorly managed bank with terrible customer service and terrible banking processes. Doing adverts is not the same thing as providing good services. The best and most reliable debit cards are those of Firstbank mastercard, UBA Africard and mastercard or Zenith mastercard. First bank introduced mastercard to Nigerian and UBA were about the first to use VISA and are still the most credible internationally |
chucky234: FCMB,UBA and Zenith the best banks? Most of you who say these thing are students and have not in any position to comment on Nigerian banks. Just imagine you saying they are bad because their staff are ugly. What has that got to do with good banking? How does that affect my bank transactions. It is the early hours of the morning. If you are still awake, I would have asked you to do a simple experiment. Go to the the websites of Zenith, UBA, GTB and First bank and get the customer service, call center numbers. Call them and come back and tell me which of them responds. The only bank right now I know with 24 hours customer service call center that works is UBA followed by First bank. Zenith and GTB call center hardly ever goes through. Forget it even going through at night. Zenith and GTB online money transfers dont work on weekend and takes up to 24 hours most times to transfer; especially zenith. UBA and First bank online money transfer is instant. UBA uses soft tokens for all their transactions making it simple and easy for you. Zenith requires hardware tokens for anything above 20k and I think they have even reduced that again to something smaller. Their money transfer process itself is a nightmare. I could go on and on. I have used most of these banks and have been banking for such a long time. Intercontinental and Oceanic used to be amongst the best until they were taken over. Now, access bank is a far cry from the intercontinental we know. Eko bank, though not as innovative as the old oceanic, is well managed though. |
Jayeris: Speak for yourself bro. I have an account with UBA, their ATMs work perfectly, their sms alert's instant. I even receive both ways, through my email and via sms. Prompt! Just because the ATM in your area doesnt work gives you no right to generalize. Its your own experience, so speak for yourself..UBA has many old ATMs but their online banking is about the best right now. Zenith online banking is crap. Their website is horrible and doesnt work. The customer service is also crap. UBA web portal is the best I have used so far. It has no esthetics but works perfectly. You really dont need much esthetics on a banks website. Just good functionality |
It makes me laugh when people come on here and praise GTB. They are the worst bank right now. I cant imagine waiting in that their market square banking halls. I always reject a GTB cheque if I can. UBA right now is 10 times better than GTB. The problem with many commenting here is that they are students and are captivated by the nice colours of orange and ash. GTB is students bank. They are like MTN. They do a lot of promo and hype and make a lot of noise, but they are terrible as far as customers service and innovation is concerned. Even MTN has improved now, but GTB is just getting worse. They are the only bank right now where you can spend up to 2 hours in the queue. There are banks that do twice more than GTB and dont even make a single noise about it. When First bank started the cash collecting ATMs, they didnt even advertise it. Only their customers were aware and were using it for several months before other banks like GTB even thought of it. The best banks are still, First Bank, Zenith, UBA, FCMB, Standard Chattered and fast rising Diamond bank. |
More propaganda! Keep it coming. The good news is that you lot are expending your fire power all too early. hahahahahahaha |
ssii: @SincerenigerianThere is never a time when all the chairmen are present in a meeting. Except in a major party convention. Some might be out of the country and some might be unable to attend for various reasons. That is a normal thing for all meetings, including govs meetings. Even ACN govs meeting dont always have all the govs in attendance. The report in itself is propaganda aimed at sending a false message. PDP is as intact as ever. keep dreaming |
regginy: U re d 1 talkin nonsense, why must d withdrawal start with dem dey shud ve included all other political elites not dem alone. Abeg think well before u write my brodaAnd why must it not start with them? It has to start with somebody doesnt it? Stop supporting nonsense just because you hate GEJ. What do you want again. So you support a senator going around with 7 escorts? Why do you then criticize the president? Cant you make up your mind what you want. You say you hate corruption but support it when the people you support are being targeted and caught. Why are you being double faced? stop supporting evil my friend. |
sultanemerald: are senators and other law makers not entitled to security details? i am confused. No, they are not entitled to police escorts by law. It is simply a gesture from the police to them. Only serving president and family, VP, governors, deputies, judges, and military personnel are entitled to escorts by law. Every other person gets police protection by the discretion of the police IG or state commissioner. Even an ordinary citizen can be assigned an escort if the police feels his life is in danger and he needs protection. That is the law, simply |
Chairman of Northern State Governors Forum and Niger State Governor, Dr Babangida Aliyu on Monday admitted that President Goodluck Jonathan has taken proactive measures to resolve the out-of-school children challenge, with the direct construction of Almajiri schools all over the region. He spoke at the Accelerating Progress in the attainment of education for all in Nigeria programme organized by the Presidency in conjunction with Global Education First Initiative represented by former British Prime Minister, Gordon Brown.Governor Aliyu also admitted that the Jonathan administration has taken holistic measures to address the 50 percent unqualified teachers in the region through the National Teachers Institute that has embarked on key developmental programmes to address poor teacher quality. With politics out of the way, Aliyu was magnanimous in praises for the efforts of the President. He regretted that out of the 10.5million children that don’t attend school, nine million of them are from the north, stressing that it was high time northern governors and administrators lived up to their responsibility. The governor stated that the Almajiri system no longer served a useful purpose to the north, adding that all northern leaders must settle down to address the challenge as it was negatively affecting development in the area.Aliyu who prides himself as chief servant of Niger State further lamented early girl child marriage, which has affected girl child enrolment in the region which accounts for a high percentage of the nation’s education. The governor claimed that his administration met a very sad situation on ground in Niger State, but since 2008, he has taken measures to address the challenges he met. He said that he has increased enrolment of children since he became governor. http://scannewsnigeria.com/breaking-news/northern-governors-commend-jonathans-almajiri-programme/ |
