Just calm your nerves before you start jumping into conclusions...

First.. why was it not written directly?? Why bracket!?

Second, how could german embassy favour courses that involves DSH over English taught courses. If at all, it should be the other around.

Third, have you gone through the website itself, there are many English errors eg “Life” instead of “Lives”

Now this is my view, it’s in bracket because there are courses that does not require DSH, for instance mine and there are no reasonable reason to favour DSH related courses over non DSH related courses. It should be both.
@heeedreeez could be right likening this application process to the Canadian Express System, where pool is judged by number of points.

My observation is that the Germany embassy is trying to prioritize students who have certified proficiency in German language (via B1, B2) and also those that have already registered to learn the language during their study program in Germany (via DSH).

If you observe the A-list criteria carefully, the first three (3) requires a form of examination; whether aptitude test or language proficiency test for international students. It's only fair for them to have included the "DSH course-related admission" to the Bachelors degree, because it confirms the student's commitment to take the language examination during the study program. The words "also" and "the" confirms DSH as a non-optional addition to the Bachelors degree criteria.

Although this seems to be unfair to students (like me) who applied for English taught Master programs in Germany and don't intend to take a certified German language examination. However, I guess this model helps them (Germany embassy staff) coordinate and sort through the numerous applications they receive, and more importantly since they've to prioritize applications.

I only hope the B-list will also be given adequate attention by the Germany embassy staff, especially for some us who are scheduled to resume during this 2019 Winter semester and are yet to get an appointment day.

I'm not sure the school accept "English as a medium of Instruction" although I applied with "IELTS" in order to be on a safe side and also to boost my requirements for other universities as some don't accept the former. However you can actually find every information you need on TH Koln website.

Also, I think the application deadline for winter 2019 via Uni-Assist is closed for International students. Kindly check the images attached to this post for reference.

All the best in your applications to study in Germany.

Ndaife:
Hi Bro, I have interest on that course too in same school, can "English as a medium of instruction" Letter from school serve as a proof of English or must one needs to write TOEFL. again, is it possible to meet up with the application considering d facts that d Deadline is 31st May and via Uni-assist.

Hello Harryokoli,

I also applied to TH Koln for winter 2019, although only for MSc REM. My documents have been evaluated by Uni-Assist and sent to the university. TH Koln requires up to German scale grade 3.0 to qualify for Masters application, so I want to believe it's possible to be admitted with a German scale grade of 2.7. However there are other indices considered in the application process e.g. Motivational Letter, Research Proposal, English Proficiency, CV etc...

Wishing you all the best in your application!

P.S: I am patiently waiting on my AL

Harryokoli:
Good Evening House , Does any one have any information about TH Koln.....I applied for two masters courses Natural resource management and renewable energy management.....I want to know if it’s possible to be admitted with a German scale grade of 2.7 because the programs have no restriction....please I need help

Hello Ottersberger,

Thank you for your post.

The last line really got me! Unfortunately in Nigeria, tribalism & nepotism is the order of the day.
How come we now have so much expectation when we're in another country?...

ottersberger:
Oga Hadampson,

I grew up in Nigeria.

Moving and settling here in Germany was a very conscious and well deliberated choice having lived and studied in the US over six years time period.

I am extremely happy with my choice, and the fruits it have yielded in my life. Germany is safe, socialist, culture rich and yes, accommodating.

It works for me. Weather it will work for any individual will depend on a combination of factors. In my observation, attitude is extremely important. If you run around with the belief that everyone's racist and opportunities non existent, that will become your reality.

I met a young man who came with the refugees caravan from Syria 5 years ago. That individual is currently rounding up his SSCE equivalent certification (Mittlere Reife Schulabschluss), and will be heading to a university after a further two years when he writes his Abitur.

Now, pay attention that this is a civil war refugee who did not have a real chance at life, not to speak of education only a few years ago. This is what counts in my opinion. appreciation and respect for life and dignity of man. Getting to practice law or hiring as a police officer is just a question of time and ones determination.

My point being that we have an elevation system that works and that applies almost in all facet of this society. This country understands today that it succeeds or fails on whether its population are good, productive and satisfied. Wasn't always like that, but it is today.

And for those of us who continue to qualify Germany or Canada based on factors that are not attainable even in our home country. Again, I say, if you are an indigene of Enugu, go and apply for a position in the Osun state civil service and vice versa, then come back and discuss who's a racist and invisible ceilings.

I got an email from Uni-Assist last week that they will be forwarding my application to TH Koln after the evaluation...
And my application status was then updated on their portal: Application has been sent to the university for further processing (or VPD has already been sent).

They also noted on their portal that: If you forward your application to the TH Cologne, you will receive a response from the TH Cologne at the earliest in mid-May. Until then please refrain from inquiries at the TH Cologne.

Sirbohr007:
Bro when did Uni-assist forward your application to TH Köln?

Hello Professionals,

I'm new here and I have enjoyed this thread thus far having gone through all the posts and comments on this thread before deciding to create an account on Nairaland and join this wonderful thread.

I am a Graduate of Biochemistry and currently doing my Service year.
I just bagged my OSH Certificate as a Safety Coordinator from OSHAssociation UK.
My favorite is Environmental Management Systems or/and Environmental Impact Assessment.

I am willing to share my little knowledge as of now and also to learn from the experienced professionals we have on this thread.

Thank You All!
