you have just said it all.

those are Nigerian infrastructures.
but the appointments are selfish and bias...
so in short if you agree that the north gets the most appointment, then it also gets the best of the bargain

On the contrary, I would rather my region has more infrastructures than appointments; infrastructural development is the in thing.

Politics / Re: Governor Wike Announces The Total Lock Down Of Some Parts Of Port Harcourt. by ThePrima: 7:07pm On Apr 27, 2020
Justiceori2019:
GOVERNOR WIKE ANNOUNCES THE lockdown OF parts OF PORT HARCOURT AND OBIO /AKPOR LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREAS
•to inaugurate Task Force on Border Closure
Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has announced a lockdown of parts of Port Harcourt and Obio/Akpor Local Government Areas in view of the failure of residents of the affected areas to comply with the regulations of the State Government to check the spread of coronavirus.
In a State Broadcast on Monday, Governor Wike stated that the complete lockdown starts from Tuesday 28 April 2020, till further notice.
He said: "In view of the non or passive compliance with these measures, it has become compelling to also place the following parts of Port Harcourt and Obio/AkporLocal Government Areas on 24 hours complete lockdown, beginning from Tuesday 28 April 2020, till further notice:
"(i) Elekahia, including the entire stretch of Rumukalagbor-Elekahia link road;
(ii) Rumuomasi, including Stadium road; and
(iii) Rumuobiokani.
"(iv) All residents in these areas must stay at home. All shops, mini-markets, officesand business outfits in these areas must also cease to operate until further notice.
"(v) Landlords in these areas must take personal responsibility to enforce this lockdown as we will not hesitate to pull down any commercial building or structure that opens to business in violation of this specific directive."
Governor Wike added: "We are also watching the conduct of residents and traders in Rumuokoro, Rumuokurusiand Oyigbowho are refusing to adhere to the Government’s ban and restrictions on business and social gathering in the State.
"We appeal to the leaders of these communities to enforce the established restrictions or risk the imposition of a total lockdown on their communities."
Governor Wike berated security agencies for allowing travellers to enter and leave the state at will despite the closure of the state's borders.
He said: "These unscrupulous security officers are deliberately putting our State and the lives of our people at risk as our health system can hardly cope, should there be a surge in COVID-19 cases.
"To contain this threat therefore, we will be inaugurating the State’s Taskforce on Border Closure on Tuesday, April 28, 2020 to effectively monitor our boundaries and ensure that no unauthorized person and or vehicle leaves or enters our State under any guise in breach of the lockdown order."
Governor Wike directed the State Commissioner for Social Welfare to round up and deport all vagrants to their state of origin.
He said: "We have also directed the Commissioner of Social Welfare to round-up and deport all vagrants, including the almajiris, to their States of origin to protect our people from the threat they present to the transmission of this pandemic.
" We have also widened our case finding and containment strategy by moving from targeted testing to active sentinel search for cases with acute symptoms across various public and private facilities and subject them to immediate testing, isolation and treatment.
"With these measures, and ceaseless supplications to God, we are confident to win the battle against COVID-19 in our State."
Governor Wike commended Rivers healthcare workers for their efforts and personal sacrifices and in prayed God to bless them richly.
He said: "While we will step-up our efforts to deliver more palliatives to the vulnerable ones among us, we urge all residents to simply comply with the established directives and protocols on the lockdown and social distancing and save our State from the COVID-19 scourge."
Governor Wike gave a situation report on the fight against the spread of coronavirus, urging Rivers people to remain steadfast.
He said: "As at yesterday, 26th April 2020, Rivers State had 6 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with 2 fully recovered and discharged, 2 confirmed deaths, while 2 are active and presently receiving treatment in our isolation and treatment centre at Nchia General Hospital, Eleme.
"The recent positive cases, in spite of the strategic measures we have put in place, are clear evidence of gradual increase in transmission of the virus, which has happened as a result of the actions of those who either chose to breach or sabotage our directives on lockdown and social distancing.
"We consider the emerging trend as not only serious and risky, but also, one that compels us to step-up our strategies and prevent a spike in the transmission of the coronavirus in our State."
"For this reason, we should all be prepared to go through more stringent measures, including a possible total statewide lockdown, if the situation so compels, in the days and weeks ahead.
"However, we may not get to this drastic point if we exercise more patience and strictly obey and observe all established measures, including the rules, behavioural protocols and restrictions on lockdowns and social distancing.
" It is therefore irresponsible for any person, group of persons, corporate entityor institution to endanger the lives of other people by floutingthe existing closure of our borders and the ban on business activities and large social gathering," he added.
Simeon Nwakaudu,
Special Assistant to the Rivers State Governor, Electronic Media.
27th April , 2020

This is the 5th week of market closure; the government has done well in controlling the spread of the virus, but further closure of business areas would only have a negative effect on the people.

Closure of all boundaries to prevent carriers of the virus into the state should be the primary focus of the government.

People are hungry as a result of this (more than 4 weeks) lockdown; a solution which has an underlying (and unaddressed) problem is not a solution after all.

The Anambra state government is playing with danger by lifting the states lockdown, covid19 virus is very dangerous and not to be played with. Opening up the state right now is very bad. Kano state should be taken as example as to how devastating the virus can be when not taken seriously. It is too early to open up markets and places of worship when nigeria is yet to experience the peak of the viral attack.

For how long do you reckon the lockdown should have lasted?

I always welcome and respect "constructive" divergent views like this.

For many years I've been a proponent of good leadership.

The truth is we ain't where we ought to be but you can't deny the fact that we've made tangible and visible progress.

It's the duty of all Nigerians to ensure the progress we've so far recorded is sustained through individual and collective contributions.

Like JF Kennedy rightly said "Ask not what your country will do for you, ask what you will do for your country "

I love your last quote, but trying to equate it to our plight is intellectual dishonesty.

USA has a FEDERAL STRUCTURE thought-out by PATRIOTS/ELITES; all the citizens need do is to do "a little pushing" and things will move.

In our case, we have a flawed structure intertwined with a most despicable constitution; we (the masses) have sacrificed and laboured so much to make this country work, the more we try, the more we lose folks to the irredeemable nature of this space.

Patriots like you (as you claim to be) should be on the frontline, along with the elites, trying to create a structure tailored to our strength as a DIVERSE people, such that with "a little push," things can move.

As a patriot, u shldn't be bandying misguided rhetorics, apparently working as a propagandist for a non-working system.

There he goes; we are nowhere near GREATNESS, actually, it's folks like you that bandy empty rhetorics who are the greatest enemy of this country; when u lie to urself and call this country what it's not (gReAt), just to form pAtRiOtIc, you shit on every activism geared towards making this country habitable.

But I understand, u have to say soothing words about this country, just to feel good about a society nowhere near being fit for habitation.

Until u realise this country is nowhere near being great (yet), until u realise this society we live in is far from decent, only then can you try to FIX IT.

Wake up, bro.

Nigeria is the biggest economy in Africa; fact!

Having the biggest economy that has no impact on the lives of majority of the citizens makes no sense, does it?

Politics / Re: A Biafran: My Verdict On Nnamdi Kanu And The Biafran Struggle by ThePrima: 3:10pm On Apr 24, 2020
supercase1:
Athough I am sympathetic to the biafra struggle and have a lot of respect for Nnamdi kanu and the ipob struggle, I am beginning to see concealed flaws in Nnamdi kanu leading the struggle for biafra.
Nmadi kanu is a stunch tribalist:I am a Nigerian and proudly Igbo man but I think there are some hidden signs unnoticed behind Nnamdi kanu and his struggle.he is a chronic tribalist.i have listened to so many derogatory remarks he made regarding the yorubas and the fulanis.even if some or maybe the fulanis are guilty of some of the allegations levelled against them.attacking the yorubas which are non fulanis with derogatory and tribalist comments shouldn't be condoned and he should see the igbos as superior to other tribes.he attacked apostle Johnson Suleiman in a live broadcast and lambast ibos attending a church led by apostle Johnson Suleiman (note I am not a Suleiman Omega ministries church member just a realistic person),this is the height of tribalism in his hidding agena. and I belief if biafra comes Nnamdi kanu might not garantee the absolute freedom of other tribes in biafra.
*Nnamdi kanu might become a dictator:once again from his radical behavior for the liberation of biafra from nigeria,am beginning to see signs of dictatorship in him.i don't think he would give biafrans the free and fair government we all crave for,he might hold until power like the likes of musleveni of Uganda and Paul kagame of Rewanda despite been librators of their country and people, they held unto thetpart of dictatorship and allowed their ego to override their sense of justice and helping the oppressed.
*Freedom of religion won't be garanteed:if biafra becomes a country with Nnamdi kanu as supreme leader,I don't think the freedom of worship would be garanteed as he would rule biafrans according to his wish and ideologies.he might make Judaism the ultimate religion and persecute others for their fate.
CONCLUSION
although biafra would come maybe someday but with Nnamdi kanu championing the course, I am a bit skeptical and suspicious of how it would be governed by him and his style of politics.
I always stand for justice, and fairness and not a paid propanga champion.points I laid out aren't based on propanganda but on reality.

With due respect, this is a childish piece; I tried making sense out of this, the more I tried, the more I failed.

There is no unity in Southern Nigeria
d closest unity which is even in doubt is between SE and SS
South should fix their unity issues first

But I guess dats impossible anyway

True!
But I think it would be easier uniting the southern people in a Southern/South Nigeria, than in the present format we have, reason being that the Southern "elites" have accepted the role of second fiddle to their Northern counterpart; while these Southern "elites" try to outsmart one another on who should be the best bride for their Northern lords, they keep the Southern masses more divided.

The Southern people ("elites" and masses) - with all their over-hyped education - are only concerned with who plays the second fiddle.
The North should not be blamed for the foolishness and selfishness of the Southern "elites."

Really, you mean Governors earn more than Senators? Why does Governors go for Senators after finishing their tenures as Governors?

What's the motivation?

The same reason why some senators aspire to be governors - career politicians need political power to remain relevant and useful to their friends and family.

Do your politicians care?? Worse still, are Nigerians ready to fight for their rights?? They are too busy engaging in religious and tribal wars, lynching gays who are shagging themselves and not posing a nuisance to anyone in the real sense (Some of whom may even be potential inventors who could liberate us from our current situation), worshipping pastors sheepishly amongst other nonsense. NONE is interested in doing the main thing such as lynching these politicians that have hijack the destinies of Nigerians. NONE!!!!
Other countries don't protest/demand for basic infrastructural facilities such as electricity, roads, water supply, health facilities etc. as that they have and they do in abundance. They demand for much higher things. Nigerians don't even have any of these and are seriously suffering but they don't protest. In stead they protest or react to trivial issues such as phone theft (though I don't justify stealing) and gay sex (which originally doesn't harm them in anyway). They even insult countries like Canada indulging in this (even though such nations are the ones feeding them with all sorts of aids). I saw a post today on how some gays were manhandled and I almost wept. In this corona period of hunger you still think gays are your problems?? Africa is truly 200 years behind the west and other developed nations of the world. I weep for Africa!

Merit and competition are ingredients that aid development of any society, both are conspicuously missing in this country.

You can't develop something u don't love; no NiGeRiAn loves Nigeria as much as he/she loves his/her ethnic group; we are all core nationalists but we like to pretend about it; until we build a country tailored to our strength (as nationalists), we would keep complaining without achieving any result.

Too much motion, no movement.
