Background rVSV-ZEBOV is a recombinant, replication competent vesicular stomatitis virus-based candidate vaccine expressing a surface glycoprotein of Zaire Ebolavirus. We tested the effect of rVSV-ZEBOV in preventing Ebola virus disease in contacts and contacts of contacts of recently confirmed cases in Guinea, west Africa. Methods We did an open-label, cluster-randomised ring vaccination trial (Ebola ça Suffit!) in the communities of Conakry and eight surrounding prefectures in the Basse-Guinée region of Guinea, and in Tomkolili and Bombali in Sierra Leone. We assessed the efficacy of a single intramuscular dose of rVSV-ZEBOV (2×107 plaque-forming units administered in the deltoid muscle) in the prevention of laboratory confirmed Ebola virus disease. After confirmation of a case of Ebola virus disease, we definitively enumerated on a list a ring (cluster) of all their contacts and contacts of contacts including named contacts and contacts of contacts who were absent at the time of the trial team visit. The list was archived, then we randomly assigned clusters (1:1) to either immediate vaccination or delayed vaccination (21 days later) of all eligible individuals (eg, those aged ≥18 years and not pregnant, breastfeeding, or severely ill). An independent statistician generated the assignment sequence using block randomisation with randomly varying blocks, stratified by location (urban vs rural) and size of rings (≤20 individuals vs >20 individuals). Ebola response teams and laboratory workers were unaware of assignments. After a recommendation by an independent data and safety monitoring board, randomisation was stopped and immediate vaccination was also offered to children aged 6–17 years and all identified rings. The prespecified primary outcome was a laboratory confirmed case of Ebola virus disease with onset 10 days or more from randomisation. The primary analysis compared the incidence of Ebola virus disease in eligible and vaccinated individuals assigned to immediate vaccination versus eligible contacts and contacts of contacts assigned to delayed vaccination. This trial is registered with the Pan African Clinical Trials Registry, number PACTR201503001057193. Findings In the randomised part of the trial we identified 4539 contacts and contacts of contacts in 51 clusters randomly assigned to immediate vaccination (of whom 3232 were eligible, 2151 consented, and 2119 were immediately vaccinated) and 4557 contacts and contacts of contacts in 47 clusters randomly assigned to delayed vaccination (of whom 3096 were eligible, 2539 consented, and 2041 were vaccinated 21 days after randomisation). No cases of Ebola virus disease occurred 10 days or more after randomisation among randomly assigned contacts and contacts of contacts vaccinated in immediate clusters versus 16 cases (7 clusters affected) among all eligible individuals in delayed clusters. Vaccine efficacy was 100% (95% CI 68·9–100·0, p=0·0045), and the calculated intraclass correlation coefficient was 0·035. Additionally, we defined 19 non-randomised clusters in which we enumerated 2745 contacts and contacts of contacts, 2006 of whom were eligible and 1677 were immediately vaccinated, including 194 children. The evidence from all 117 clusters showed that no cases of Ebola virus disease occurred 10 days or more after randomisation among all immediately vaccinated contacts and contacts of contacts versus 23 cases (11 clusters affected) among all eligible contacts and contacts of contacts in delayed plus all eligible contacts and contacts of contacts never vaccinated in immediate clusters. The estimated vaccine efficacy here was 100% (95% CI 79·3–100·0, p=0·0033). 52% of contacts and contacts of contacts assigned to immediate vaccination and in non-randomised clusters received the vaccine immediately; vaccination protected both vaccinated and unvaccinated people in those clusters. 5837 individuals in total received the vaccine (5643 adults and 194 children), and all vaccinees were followed up for 84 days. 3149 (53·9%) of 5837 individuals reported at least one adverse event in the 14 days after vaccination; these were typically mild (87·5% of all 7211 adverse events). Headache (1832 [25·4%]), fatigue (1361 [18·9%]), and muscle pain (942 [13·1%]) were the most commonly reported adverse events in this period across all age groups. 80 serious adverse events were identified, of which two were judged to be related to vaccination (one febrile reaction and one anaphylaxis) and one possibly related (influenza-like illness); all three recovered without sequelae. Interpretation The results add weight to the interim assessment that rVSV-ZEBOV offers substantial protection against Ebola virus disease, with no cases among vaccinated individuals from day 10 after vaccination in both randomised and non-randomised clusters. Canada's telecom regulator yesterday declared that broadband Internet must be considered "a basic telecommunications service for all Canadians" and created a fund to connect rural and remote communities. With this decision, high-speed broadband is now treated as an essential technology similar to voice service. All Canadians should be able to purchase home Internet with 50Mbps download speeds and 10Mbps uploads, and they should have the option of purchasing unlimited data, the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) announcement said. A new fund will make $750 million available over the next five years to support projects in areas where that level of broadband isn't available. Money will be distributed to applicants based upon a competitive process. Funding can be used either for fixed broadband service or to upgrade mobile networks, but the goals of 50Mbps/10Mbps and unlimited data for all is specifically for home Internet service. About 10 percent will be allocated to communities that are dependent on satellite access. Currently, about 18 percent of Canadians, representing 2 million households, don't have access to 50Mbps/10Mbps service. "The CRTC's goal is to reduce that to 10 per cent by 2021 and down to zero in the next 10 to 15 years," a CBC article said. The fund was created by shifting current subsidies for voice service to broadband. Telecoms "used to pay 0.53 percent of their revenues, excluding broadband, into that fund. Now they'll pay the same rate on all revenues, including broadband," the CBC reported. The CRTC's decision does not set any targets for affordability, as the agency is hoping to make service affordable through market forces. (But as some readers noted in the comments on this story, the CRTC already requires wholesale access for competitors and sets wholesale access rates, which has the effect of boosting competition and keeping retail prices lower than they would otherwise be.) Hello, I'll like to share with you the proposal for an online platform to effectively manage voting in Beauty Pageants & Photo Contests. Pageanthive.com is a free online voting platform for pageants and photo contests. PageantHive is developed to give pageant and contest organizers a free platform to conduct voting for their contestants in the course in their beauty pageants and photo contests. Unlike other platforms used for voting, PageantHive protects against auto likes as experienced on facebook where contestants buy like for their photo, organizers can upload up to (4) Images per contestant, pageant organizers also have the freedom of deciding who can vote for contestants or how (e.g one vote per contestants) people should vote. Each contestant has a share button which they can use to share their voting links. Alright.. But I'll appreciate if you can help me ask him. |
Nice beat. What instrument and preset did you use for your bassline ? Also share with me some mixing tips. Thanx. |
Awesomeking:Funny enough.. |
I know this is not supposed to be a joke but I couldn't find an appropriate section to post it. .. Why do Nigerians have this attitude? .. Some bad stuff happens to someone or someone battling difficult times and all you hear people say is "thank God its not me", instead of praying for the person or even wishing well for them.

Like I said in my previous post selfishness in this section is the reason posts here don't hit the frontpage. Let's forget frontpage for now and talk abt a few bad things I noticed here that are not good for the progress of this section of Nairaland. .. Every body talking and no one listening has never been a good idea. Someone will post a topic about His/Her new song or whatever and you hardly see someone responding to the post, you'd most likely see someone reply with a link to their own song asking people to DL. .. You don't plan on helping anyone review their song but you expect people to download your song and tell you if they like it. .. We need to support ourselves more, as they say charity begins at home. We being on this forum is for a reason, which one is supporting each other. .. We are being selfish by seeking for attention which we give none, asking for help and ignoring or turning a blind eye on a fellow forum member seeking for help. .. What will it take us to read a post and reply when appropriate or like(if you can't type). I'm not saying because you want help a forum member you should tell him his song is good when in reality its BAD. .. Qst: Why we don't comment on your post? Ans: Because you don't comment on ours. .. This post will probably not get a comment.lol |
The song is below average. .. Reason: You have solidstar in it and its still not sounding great honestly.. Good voice tho.. .. I'm not in anyway trying to undermine your efforts. I believe you've got the voice, just try to make sure your next song is better than the previous one always. Also featuring big artists isn't a guaranty for blowing. E.g Sean tizzle, Davido, Charass, Kiss daniel made good(Hits) songs before even featuring other artists. .. All the best. |
metaldude:Realy funny.. I tell you it won't be a good song. |
Greetings... I notice that topics from this section find it extremely hard to hit the front page.. . Please I want to get opinions from you why it is so.. . I know you thinking it does. Yes it does, but only topics like: wizkid gets a new ride.. .. Davido's Baby mama poses for the camera. .. Fans Blast P'Square for bla bla bla... .. While you the active members never hit the frontpage all because of your selfishness. .. I have my opinion (no its not the MODs) I believe it's selfishness(I will create a topic on that at midnight or tomorrow morning) and a few other reasons.. .. We all know the amount off traffic that hit the frontpage, and as loyal citizens of Nairaland you deserve to hit the frontpage and benefit from it also, get at least 5,000 music downloads as a result of frontpage things or having your voice heard when you write.. And of course publicity.. .. Why is it not happening? Like I told you selfishness in all of us using this section and very few other reasons. I also have a topic for the MODs on suggestions for this section.. I believe as a MODs "BANNING"(lol na joke o) people & deleting comments are not the only duty.. .. So with all said I want to get your opinion on the reason personal topics created by you and others in Music section hardly hit the frontpage. |
Good write up.. But in the part of lyrics and beat i'll add these: Lyrics: even though you could blow with stvpid or weak lyrics or even repeated lyrics how you present it matters a lot. E.g shoki and Iyanya Kukere.. Take Banana.. Patoranking daniela whine.. Etc.. .. The beats behind these songs are top class and are filling up for the other 70% of the songs flaws.. Also these artists I'll say have mastered their craft and are very good at making stvpid lyrics or even non-existent words sound cool.. Eg doro bucci .. So before you go about singing sh!t because the likes of Iyanya, D'Prince etc. sings junk that tops chart, you should try and polish that your junk lyrics and make it come alive.. .. Wizkid does that, repeats lyrics like: she be my fine fine fine lady ahn.. She go say she no be lady ahn..x2(or more) and all that. But the way he presented the lyrics was cool and people liked it. .. Secondly.. .. Beats: Even if you had Patoranking's Alubarika lyrics, without a good beat it won't sound good. I'm not saying Mastercraft or Shizzi has to produce for you, but you should try your best to get a good beat for your songs.. .. For artist that produce for themselves, try and get quality instruments(both virtual) so you don't sound amature, If you want to play a guitar try and find a real one or find someone to play for you(if you can't) after you must have finished you beat. .. Mic: If you want to record in a small studio try and know the Mic they use, besause a good Mic can add so much life to your musical voice and overall your music.. People don't know how fine the studio you record your track is, they only hear how good or bad your voice and overall the music is. .. For mics Condenser mics are very good for vocals. Most A-list(if not all) artists use them.. .. We have large diaphram and Small diaphram Condenser mics. Try and read about them to know which is good for your voice.. .. Lastly: try to Mix the song well.. It could be by the producer, but don't hesitate to complain if it doesn't sound good.. My humble addition. |
....... When they will say hide yourself, Una no go gree, u think you are doing me, you are doing yourself.
