Section 5(1) of the Act states that for a member of the legal profession to get the privilege award of the rank of a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), he must have achieved the following;

The applicant must be in full-time legal practice.
He must have distinguished themselves as an advocate.
Must have made a significant contribution to the development of the legal profession in Nigeria.
The rank can also in some exceptional cases be awarded to members of the legal profession who have distinguished themselves as academics by making substantial contributions to the practice of law, through teaching, research, and publications that have become a major source of reference by legal practitioners, judges, law teachers, and law students.

Omoyele Sowore’s brother, Olajide Sowore, has been shot killed by suspected herdsmen in Edo state, KikioTolu News can confirm.

The popular Nigerian activists and former presidential president took to his Facebook page to share the tragic information.

The late Olajide is Omoyele’s immediate younger brother who was studying at the Igbinedion University in Edo state.

He was said to be on his way to the institution when he was killed by the suspected herdsmen/kidnappers.

Niger State Government has confirmed the kidnap of the Commissioner for Information Mohammed Sani Idris.

This was made known in a recently released statement by Mary Noel-Berje the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Niger State.

The Commissioner was said to have been kidnaped by bandits at about one o'clock in the early hours of today from his home at Baban tunga village in Tafa local government of the State.

Security agencies are how ever already trailing the bandits with a view to apprehending them.

A corps member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), who was injured during the recent Shiites and Police clash has been discharged from the hospital.

The corps member identified as, Aliyu Suleiman, was hit by a stray bullet on his way to work during the face-off between protesters in Abuja.

The Director-General of the NYSC scheme, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim while receiving Suleiman in his office was thankful to God for sparing his life.

General Shuaibu Ibrahim pledged that NYSC Management will offset his medical bills and monitor his post-discharge health condition.

In 2010, Shawcross was involved in another sickening incident when his horror challenge on Aaron Ramsey left the Welshman with a snapped tibia and fibula.

Shortly after the incident, Shawcross revealed Ramsey had blanked his advances to make contact and apologise.

Ryan Shawcross suffered a horror injury, as the Stoke City captain broke his leg in a friendly match against Leicester.

Many people have taken to social media to wish the defender well, as there are fears for him after he broke his leg when he slid in for a challenge on Marc Albrighton just before half-time and won the ball near the touchline.

However his trailing left leg buckled alarmingly beneath him and anxious teammates immediately signalled to the bench that the 31-year-old defender was seriously injured.

Fans winced at replays which showed Shawcross’s left leg crumple on impact and the stricken skipper held his head in his hands before medics applied an oxygen mask to ease his obvious pain.

Ekiti State University (EKSU), College of Medicine has produced their first set of medical doctors, after almost 10 years of waiting.

According to reports reaching us at KikioTolu News, the result of the final MBBS Professional Examination of the medical students in the College of Medicine, Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti has been released.

All the 43 medical students presented for the examination passed and one of them with a distinction.

R. Kelly was arrested on the night of Thursday, July 11th on federal sex trafficking charges, while walking his dog arrested in Chicago.

According to multiple reports in the US, there are said to be 13 charges against the singer, including child abuse images and obstruction of justice.

US attorney spokesman Joseph Fitzpatrick said that the indictment against Kelly handed down in federal court for the northern district of Illinois also contained charges that revolve around child pornography and obstruction of justice.

The 52-year-old was arrested by NYPD and Homeland Security officials. This is coming after the singer has been accused of different sexual abuse crimes for over two decades.

Until his recent arrest, Kelly real name Robert Kelly, was free on a $1 million bond set in February 2019.

Soldiers of the Nigerian Army stormed the NYSC camp in Ikare-Akoko, Ondo state, to assault a staff of the scheme.

According to information gathered from our sources on camp, the soldiers led by one Captain CU Kanu, stormed the National Youth Service Corps, Ikare Akoko orientation camp on Monday 8, July 2019.

KikioTolu News exclusively learnt that Captain CU Kanu and the victim, Mr Owolabi Wake (who is the Chief Inspector Head of Security on Camp), had a little argument during the camp period.

This led to the Captain laying an ambush on Mr Owolabi, who was on his way home after the winding up of camp activities.

Michel Platini has been arrested over the awarding of the 2022 FIFA World Cup to Qatar in December 2010.

The former president of Uefa and head of European football was detained by French police on Tuesday morning (18th June 2019) in Nanterre, a western suburb of Paris, as part of the investigation into corruption surrounding how the 2022 World Cup hosting rights were awarded.

The report also claims that Claude Gueant, who formerly advised ex-French president Nicolas Sarkozy as Secretary General, has also been taken in for questioning but has not been arrested.

Former vice-president Jack Warner claimed an e-mail had been publicised amid allegations Qatar had ‘bought’ the Wold Cup – although the bid team have denied any wrongdoing.

During his playing days, Platini was crowned Ballon d’Or winner three times in a row between 1983 and 1985.
