Ekiti State Governorship candidate Dr. Kayode Fayemi has said if elected, his administration would transform the lives of the people and put an end to poverty in the state.

Fayemi who is the candidate of ruling party, All Progressive Congress, APC, stated this while addressing journalists at the Akure Airport on Friday.

He was welcomed by party leaders from Ondo and Ekiti states with a large number of his supporters. He said;

"I want to commend our people for their passion for excellence and determination to remove those who have brought our state to a state of comatose and I have no doubt in my mind,victory shall be ours. The time has come to remove poverty brought by the corrupt people in government today in Ekiti from the lives of our people and I pray God will perfect it for us."

The Ondo State governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu who led other members of the state executive council to receive Fayemi noted that the party was poised to take over Ekiti from what he described as misrule of the PDP. Akeredolu said;

“It means a lot to us, a lot to the party and the people of Ondo State. We always craved to have brotherly neighbour. Every arm of APC in the state is committed to this Ekiti project and it is a task that must be done because we are determined to make sure we reclaim Ekiti and restore what has been lost.

“Fayemi is not new in government. He has done it before and he is only coming to restore what he had been doing. A lot of things need to be done aright and I believe Ekiti State people will support him.”

The Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN) has reacted to claims that he was behind the shootings that occurred during yesterday's APC rally in Ado Ekiti.

The Governor said he was in the state to show support for Kayode Fayemi, who is the APC Governorship aspirant in the upcoming July election.

The Governor made this known in a statement released earlier today by his Chief Press Secretary, Segun Ajiboye. See full statement below;

The attention of the Ondo State governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN), has been drawn to a malicious report by the campaign organization of the governorship candidate of the PDP in Ekiti state, that Governor Akeredolu was behind the needless shooting that occurred today in Ado-Ekiti during the rally for the APC governorship candidate in Ekiti, Dr. Kayode Fayemi.

The statement, signed by one Lere Olayinka on behalf of the Olusola Eleka Campaign Organization, alleged that the thug that fired the shot that injured about four persons in the rally, including an APC chieftain, Hon. Opeyemi Bamidele, was brought to Ekiti State by Governor Akeredolu.

We wish to categorically state that though there was shooting in Ado-Ekiti by a thug today, Governor Akeredolu knew nothing about the identity of the suspect. It is nothing but a wicked lie from the pit of hell.

Governor Akeredolu was in Ekiti State to show support for the APC and its candidate, Dr. Kayode Fayemi and none of the governor's security detail fired a single shot throughout the rally in Ekiti.

Meanwhile, the Ekiti State Police PPRO, Caleb Ikechukwu , has disclosed that the policeman who handled the rifle was hired from Lagos. We hope this will put to rest dangerous allegation.

You will recall that the same Lere Olayinka had a few days ago alleged that Governor Akeredolu had promised to spend the state’s two months allocation on the Ekiti election, another lie that has been punctured by Nigerians from all walks of life, especially the people of Ondo State.

It is, therefore, pertinent to state here that at no gathering did Governor Akeredolu make a remark that he was ready to put two months allocations of Ondo state together to pursue Dr. Fayemi’s governorship election in EKiti state.

Once again, we condemn the incident that occurred in Ado Ekiti today and sympathize with the victims and their family. We also sympathize with the APC family in Ekiti and the nation in general.

Governor Akeredolu is a man peace who is known to have devoted unrelenting efforts at sustaining peace in his state. We are, however, relieved with the news of the arrest of perpetrator by the police.

Award-winning rapper, Folarin Falana, better known as Falz, has  addressed the criticisms that trailed the release of his ‘This is Nigeria’ video.

The video,  is the remake of American singer and actor, Donald Glover’s ‘This is America’ which was released on Saturday, May 5.
Falz’s video, which was released last weekend and mirrors Glover’s, touches on issued that boggle the Nigerian system, including political hysteria, internet fraud, the state of the economy, insecurity, religion, lack of medical facilities, herdsmen crisis, and others.


However, criticism trailed the Nigerian artiste’s 3 minutes-42 seconds video for following the exact pattern of Glover’s video, employing the same visual concept.

Not one to take the criticism lying down, Falz responded with a 42 seconds clip in which he chided those who have chosen to ignore the message in the song. He said;

“I just dey read comments online and I dey vex. And I dey vex because I dey see people dey talk say falz tha bahd guy is not original. You copied. Hello, do you think I’m not aware that Childish Gambino is the one that sang the original? You think I’ve not seen ‘This is America?’ Dude, that is the point.

“This is supposed to be a remake. It is supposed to be a cover. It is not supposed to be original. I’m not trying to make money off it. Now, the sooner you realise that you are supposed to pick up the message, or the numerous messages on the track , the better for your life, the sooner you start to act accordingly, the better for your own personal life. One of the victims of Wednesday’s robbery attack on the Union Bank Plc in Ilawe-Ekiti, Ekiti state, has been buried.

David Adeyemi Otitoju, a staff of the bank, was shot dead by armed robbers, during the operation. The deceased, whose wife just welcomed a bouncing baby two weeks ago, was buried yesterday.

KikioTolu had earlier reported that Suspected armed robbers on Tuesday attacked Union bank in Ilawe-Ekiti, Ekiti State, leaving two people dead in the process.

The Nigerian Police in Lagos yesterday said they have arrested a 45-year-old woman for allegedly maltreating an 8-year-old boy after accusing him of being a wizard.

Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Edgal Imohimi, said:

“This is a case of man’s inhumanity to man reported by one Chinonye Iyonetu, 8-years-old, against one Charity Iyonetu of Animal Kingdom, close to Seme Border, Lagos.

The complainant alleged that the suspect is the elder sister to his father. That sometime in 2016, the suspect came to their village, Agbaai, Nkota LGA of Imo State and brought him to Lagos after his mother abandoned him and left to an unknown place.

He claimed that the suspect always maltreat him, accusing him of being a wizard. However, the ordeal of the little boy came to the fore when on May 9, at about 9am, the suspect use horse whip a.k.a Koboko, to flog the complainant, inflicting injuries all over his body.

She thereafter locked him in her one room apartment with his two hands tied behind his back and left to her shop. The complainant was crying and shouting for help which made one Peter Aluku to call the Police.

When the police team arrived, they broke the door of the house and rescued the child”.

The Police also revealed said the suspect would be charged to the Special and Sexual Offences Court as soon as investigation was concluded.

Barbaric actions still live in some parts of Nigeria, just last month a woman who was accused of witchcraft got the embarrassment of her life as her accusers got her beaten and stripped naked in broad daylight in a community in Abia State.

The woman who was accused of being a witch, who had allegedly killed many people in the past, was mercilessly beaten and dragged on the streets with many people following her. Her back revealed evidence of skin peeling whips which made a home of scars on her body.

Suspected armed robbers on Tuesday attacked Union bank in Ilawe-Ekiti, Ekiti State, leaving two people dead in the process.

In the operation that lasted over one hour, the robbers killed a policeman and a bank staff. Another bank worker was also reportedly shot in the arm.

The Ilawe robbery attack happened barely a month after another old generation bank was attacked in Ifaki-Ekiti in which a police inspector was killed.

The robbers stormed the bank which is located close to the Alawe’s Palace, at about 2.45 pm and operated unhindered for over an hour. They reportedly blasted the bank’s security door with dynamite before gaining entrance.

The dynamite also blew up a blue colour Toyota Camry car parked within the vicinity of the bank. The robbers reportedly stole an unspecified amount of money.

It can be recalled that at least four police officers were reportedly gunned down during a robbery operation in Offa, Kwara State, last month.

About six other residents and bank customers in the town were also killed in the operation which lasted for more than an hour.

Sources in the town said the robbers blew up entrances into the banks with dynamite, before carting away money from about five banks.

Students of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), on Monday staged a peaceful protest against the institution’s directive preventing students who had not paid their school fees from sitting for the ongoing first semester examination.

The students, who took to the Oye-Ikole highway, locked down the highway for hours before returning to the main gate of the institution to continue the protest.

One of the protesters, who spoke with newsmen said that some students were denied access to the examination hall on May 10 inspite of the fact that the deadline for the payment of school fees had not lapsed.

The institution’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Godfrey Badji said that some students who had not fully paid their school fees were the ones protesting. He said;

According to him, the institution’s management had directed that those who had not completed payment of their school fees should not sit for the examination.

“While implementing this directive, some students who had not paid their school fees were not allowed to participate in the ongoing semester examination.

“This is the reason why those students affected have resorted to protest this morning,”

It can be recalled that FUOYE was closed down indefinitely by the school management after students of the institution clashed with Okada riders in the month of March.

Man wanted after being caught on CCTV using fake notes to buy N120k worth of goods in supermarket

The suspect was caught on CCTV camera of Bonjour La Xception Supermart at Ijegun, Lagos.

On getting to the store, he picked what he wanted to buy, then calculated the price of all the goods before heading to the cashier. He had carefully separated the real notes and fake notes in his pocket.

He gave the cashier the real Naira notes first to count and test, after which he collected it back. He distracted the unsuspecting cashier, and changed the real notes for the fake notes in his other pocket.
