Business / Dstv Is Ripping And Disrespecting Nigerian Customers; Share Your Experience by thesaintino: 6:55am On Jun 16, 2018
Right now I'm so angry with Dstv as I got disconnected and account suspended yesterday while watching that 'must watch' match between Portugal and Spain. While no reason or apologies given for the disconnection, this is more than 12 hours and I have not been reconnected. After all attempts to reach the customer care line failed, see the e-mail I sent to them. Please let's share our experience and demand better service from this company that is ripping Nigerians.
Here is the email I sent

I write to express my extreme displeasure at your services which I will formally report to consumer protection council of Nigeria and if action is not taken then I will be left with no choice but take legal action.
My smartcrd and phone numbers are 10******58 and 0703*****65 respectively, I subscribed for compact + pvr access today but hardly had I watched for an hour before an e16-4 error poppped up while I was watching my team play.
Despite using the ussd *288*2# and sending the reset message, I was not reconnected. Attempts at calling customer service was abortive only to be replied that my account was not cleared and I needed to visit the nearest dstv office which is not possible now as they have closed. I explored all possible ways to be reconnected but to my dismay and anger I just got a message that my account has been suspended.
The fact that this is not the first time that such is happening, coupled with the fact that Dstv never apologises for such makes me believe that it has no iota of regard for its customers. I know no system or institution is perfect but your disrespect for your customers is on another level only to be tolerated in Nigeria. Nigerians have been tolerant of dstv and it's high time we demanded that it acts and treats Nigerian customers right. No thanks as u wait to hear from consumer protection council or my lawyers should Cpc fail to act.
Crime / Re: A Criminal On The Loose And Not A Medical Doctor by thesaintino: 7:57pm On Jun 12, 2016
The guy is not a medical doctor but a criminal claiming to be a doctor to divert the attention of unsuspecting public and security agents
Crime / A Criminal On The Loose And Not A Medical Doctor by thesaintino: 7:21pm On Jun 12, 2016
Earlier today, there was a post on one medical doctor who turned armed robber and car snatcher that has been making waves especially in the face of the current strike by the association of resident doctors. On reading the news, I immediately swung into research being that some years ago there was a news of a group of assassins who were apprehended in Minna and one of them claimed to be a medical doctor. After rigorous Internet search, behold Richard Obafemi, the same name with the accused in earlier post today popped up and bingo, this same criminal element was arrested by DSS in Minna in 2011 for assassination. He claimed to be a medical doctor with national hospital Abuja and was even found with Id card bearing same as well as stethoscope. However upon verification, he was not in the employ of national hospital and he is not a doctor but a criminal on the loose.
Below is the news of the arrest of Richard Obafemi and his gang in 2011 as it appeared in Vanguard. Attached too is the link for verification.

3 SUSPECTED ASSASSINS ARRESTED IN MINNA ON MAY 13, 20119:38 PMIN NEWSCOMMENTS By WOLE MOSADOMI,

Minna Niger state command of the Department of State Services (DSS) Friday in Minna paraded three suspected assassins who were hired by an unidentified politician for some special assignments. Refusing to disclose the identity of their benefactor in order not to jeopardize ongoing investigations, the state Director DSS, Dr. Larry Obiagwu told reporters that the suspects were arrested at a hotel in Minna where they were staying with fake identities and pseudonyms , preparing to start their operation. He said that the arrests of the suspects were due to the proactive counter security measures put in place by security agencies to maintain and stabilize the internal security of the state after the 2011 general elections. The leader of the suspects,Richard Obafemi, who claims to be a medical doctor was arrested with a set of medical stethoscope, which Obiagwu said was used to divert the attention of unsuspecting members of the public and security agents. According to the DSS boss, the identity card found on the suspect presents him as a ‘Pediatric Surgery Director (Consultant)’ at the National Hospital in Abuja, a claim the DSS director said was verified and found to be false. He added that the suspect during further interrogation said he has offered his services to the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), Benin City, Edo state. Another suspect, Hadi Jampi Ambrose was caught dressed in a full combat military regalia with a warrant card of Nigeria Army Second (2nd) Division, a locally made pistol, a camouflage bullet -proof jacket, a military body armour and one expended round of 9mm ammunition while the third suspect, Mohammed Dikwa claims he is a Fulani cattle herdsman . The Director of Security stated that the benefactor of the suspects had fled the state adding that measures and investigations are underway by the State Security Service to ensure that he is caught and brought to book. Confirming this, Ambrose said that one Alhaji (who is their benefactor) told them to come to the state to carry out some special assignment after which they would be rewarded handsomely adding that they had been in the state for some days putting up in a hotel before they were caught by the men of the SSS. He admitted that the uniform was sewn for him by a tailor in Warri while he got the military jack boot and ammunition from a retired ECOMOG soldier and that he bought the locally made pistol from an undisclosed source for N4,500.

Sports / Manchester United Has Officially Sacked Van Gaal by thesaintino: 11:59pm On May 24, 2016
Man utd has officially sacked Louis Van Gaal as communicated by the club's board vice president Ed Woodward in a terse sacking statement made available on Monday 23/5/16 at 8:30 pm. This brings to an end unconfirmed reports of LVG's sacking making rounds even on this platform. LVG has since left the club for a retreat in his house in portugal. As we await the appointment of a new manager, what do you think of LVG's sacking? Is it a prayer that has been answered or should the club have allowed him to complete his contract and so build the confidence of his young team?
Below is the club's statement on Van Gaal's sacking and the press statement of
Gaal himself.

LOUIS VAN GAAL LEAVES MANCHESTER UNITED

(NYSE: MANU) Louis van Gaal is to leave Manchester United, with immediate effect.

Executive vice chairman Ed Woodward said: "I would like to thank Louis and his staff for their excellent work in the past two years culminating in winning a record-equalling 12th FA Cup for the club (and securing him a title in four different countries). He has behaved with great professionalism and dignity throughout his time here. He leaves us with a legacy of having given several young players the confidence to show their ability on the highest stage. Everyone at the club wishes him all the best in the future."

A decision on a successor as manager will be announced soon.

LOUIS VAN GAAL STATEMENT

Louis van Gaal issued the following statement at 20:30 BST this evening (Monday 23 May)...

It has been an honour to manage such a magnificent club as Manchester United FC, and in doing so, I have fulfilled a long-held ambition.

I am immensely proud to have helped United win the FA Cup for the 12th time in the club's history. I have been privileged during my management career to have won 20 trophies but winning the FA Cup, which is steeped in so much history, will always be one of the most special achievements of my career.

I am very disappointed to be unable to complete our intended three-year plan. I believe that the foundations are firmly in place to enable the club to move forward and achieve even greater success.

I hope that winning the FA Cup will give the club a platform to build upon next season to restore the success that this passionate set of fans desire.

Having managed in Holland, Spain and Germany, I had always hoped for the opportunity to manage in English football and be part of English culture. Both of these experiences have lived up to expectations and been fantastic.

I thank my players and wish them well for next season. It has been a pleasure to work with them and it has been particularly rewarding to see so many young players take their chance to break into the first team and excel. I look forward to watching the continued development of these young players next season.

Thank you to the owners and board of Manchester United for giving me the opportunity to manage this great club.

I would also like to express my gratitude to the amazing United supporters. They are truly the best fans in the world.

I am indebted to my support and coaching staff, who have given me their all during their time at the club.

I am deeply grateful to each and every member of the club’s staff - the sports science team, the medical team, the kit and laundry department, club administration, the press office, the manager's team, the Academy team, ground staff and the catering team, both at Old Trafford and the Aon Training Complex, all of whom have given me their unwavering support in my time at United. Never in my 25 years as a manager have I been so well supported in my role.

Finally, my special thanks go to Sir Alex Ferguson and Sir Bobby Charlton for always making me and my family feel so welcome throughout my time as Manchester United manager. Gaal himself.
