Politics / Re: Are They Using Guns To Put Dead Bodies On The Streets Of Africa? by thesolutions(m): 9:40am On Jan 07
Why are foreigners involved?
It is simple. Most of these resources are of no value to hungry Africans who had been program to work for food rather than for wealth. So Africans won't eat gold or silver or any other mineral resources found in his territory. So they labor for the foreigners who paid them a little token for their labour.
Some of these grew in wealth and wanted the little token for themselves so they mobilized and fund an armed group to eliminate competitor. Seeing this greed, the foreigners obliged to provide more arms on condition that they mine these resources themselves.
Having the tools, they were able to achieve more resources and discovered more precious stones and minerals that was not part of the bargain.
Politics / Re: Are They Using Guns To Put Dead Bodies On The Streets Of Africa? by thesolutions(m): 9:30am On Jan 07
The more quiet the government keep about the true agenda of bandits and herdsmen and every other arm group, the longer this killing spree lasts. The militant group that sprang up in the NigerDelta was settled by the people that created them and they mellowed down because they are now in government and controls the resources. They mellowed down because of threat to the families and communities of the militant group. To some extent, the government did carry out it threat and went on a killing spree in one of the community just to pressure the militant to bow to the terms of the government.

But in the north the religion has been promoted to be the cause of agitation, it has become difficult for the armed groups to be granted amnesty. They were tagged repentant Boko Haram and bandits. Because the creator of that monster had the government. But the beneficiaries were not ready to relinquish the resources to the government which results to different groups of killers under the command of different political actors.
Politics / Re: Are They Using Guns To Put Dead Bodies On The Streets Of Africa? by thesolutions(m): 8:47am On Jan 07
So these guns are not carried by foreigners but by our own blood.
The brothers we loved. The ones we defend. The ones we pray for and the ones we hoped succeeds.
Politics / Re: Are They Using Guns To Put Dead Bodies On The Streets Of Africa? by thesolutions(m): 8:45am On Jan 07
The bias is the selfishness of Africans. They sold their brothers during slave trade. They can sell their community for any shiny thing that is offered by a foreigner. This bias is the reason why every black man is a suspect in a foreign land. They rob the good and serve the evil. They support the corrupt to lead and oppress the good. The good is regarded as a jew guy while the evil criminals are regarded as smart guys.
Politics / Re: Are They Using Guns To Put Dead Bodies On The Streets Of Africa? by thesolutions(m): 8:36am On Jan 07
These resources have no value to an African except the government. But because government exist in Africa, they will rather destabilize the government if their stooge is not successful at the polls so as to continue their fleecing of the continent's resources without paying due benefits to the continent.
The new competition for control of these resources had resulted in coups is some African countries while bandits are funded with the help of some selfish political actors in Nigeria to destabilize any state with desired resources while spreading religious hatred. The president of United States did openly asked the Islamic communities to stop killing Christians. That is the level of conspiracy

Yes, many individuals have bought this religious crisis story and many islamist seems to be enjoying the killing spree as it favours their political dominance, but they are ignorant of it origin.

Daily, Christians and Moslems do their business without crisis. But once a killing spree was announced by any media, everyone picks sides instead of exposing the true enemy without bias.
Politics / Are They Using Guns To Put Dead Bodies On The Streets Of Africa? by thesolutions(m): 5:46am On Jan 07
I mean, Ebola came and is gone. Coronavirus was prescribed to be the key that will put dead bodies on the streets of Africa by Bill Gate but it seems that has passed too without them seeing Africans dropping dead. Now it is guns.

While the conspiracy Theory is suspected, it is obvious that the killings in Africa is sponsored not by Nigerians but foreigners with interest in the affected regions.

Solid minerals are found to be in most places where killings by unknown gunmen and bandits operated. It is worn religious regalia so the people finds it difficult to suspect their atrocities. I mean, the islamist seems to celebrate anything that champion their cause not minding that it is all a conspiracy to hijack resources in their region. The Christian folks are made to believe that they are victims of Islamic agenda. But these are all conspiracies by the criminals who are not ready to pay the government for the resources they are daily lifting from the continent.

the nnpc remains the sole importer of petrol into Nigeria and that's it. Any independent marketer that wants to do so are also free to import. But they will have to source for their own dollars at the official rate, which is the same rate nnpc is getting its dollars. Pls enough of all this conspiracy theories that holds no water. Its better if we can all work together for a better day
So from which bank is NNPC getting it dollars from. NNPC doesn't source for dollars. They sell our crude and use the proceeds to import fuel. As it stands now, NNPC has borrowed dollars from customers that buys crude oil from them. They are going to be supplying crude oil to the company free until they have completed the debt. What this means is there is no more dollars until they have cleared the debt. But you are still young to understand. You will grow up one day.
If some tell you that something you liked is not good, it doesn't not mean the person hates you. Try to ask others about that thing to have wider opinion.

abdeefggh:

Explain the systematic subsidy and let us know when and how they paid for it
The systemic subsidy is the systemic fraud in which only NNPC has the sole right to import PMS using foreign exchange earned from sales of products under their control. What this means is that they fixed their own exchange rate different from rates on the parallel market to keep the price fairly stable. They sell these forex to selected accomplice known as major marketers so it will appear that NNPC is not the sole importer of Petrol. By so doing, The government is shortchanged of the forex accrued from transactions carried out by NNPC. This is why it has become difficult for other marketers to import PMS at a landing cost of 95.7 cents (Approximately N1,080) and sell at 60 cent (N630) using rates from parallel market.

What this means is if Individuals are to import fuel and sell to the market, the price according to the current exchange rate would be between N1,200 to N1,300. If you are not seeing subsidy, it is not my fault.

Why are people not seeing any hope for the naira? It is simple. NNPC is sharing the forex they are earning for import of PMS creating forex drought for the government. The government on it own is mopping up available Forex from individuals making it difficult for people to take these forex to the bank. They will rather sell to the highest bidder outside the banking hall than let the government know that they have possession of forex. The government is not ready to cut it excesses and so the worst is yet to come. The cosmetics will soon wear off and the naked urgly face of the economy will be exposed. No one wants this. But this is the fact of how things are.

Now to those who think there is still subsidy, i want to ask them if they are the ones paying for it undecided
There is fuel subsidy. Until you understand why the prices of Diesel, Kerosene and cooking gas is higher than that of petrol, you won't understand the systemic subsidy.

My dearest Nairalanders I need your help and advice.

A little background about myself. I am a young girl of 21. Studying at one of the prestigious universities in Nigeria and currently in 300L. Is it weird that I have zero to no social media presence like people of my age. People look at me like I'm crazy when I tell them Its been years I visited my Facebook and Instagram accounts, I find it boring and not interesting atall. I don't even have the apps on my phone anymore though I still have the passwords but zero urge to visit those sites. I still take pictures, infact I love taking pictures but I just store them in my google photos, no urge to share on social media at all. Sometimes I share on my Whatsapp status which has my family (Mom, Dad and siblings) alone as contacts. My roommate thinks am making a big mistake and may not get a good guy as a partner since I also rarely go out. I really wish I can change and post more or even become more active on social media but I just love my privacy and being anonymous.

Please those who are more experienced on these things should advice me, am I losing so much by being invisible Online? Offline I am very outgoing and have no problems communicating with people and friends but Online is something else.

After rectifying the error, we brought the server back for a few minutes, but they decided to take the server down again. Since then, we haven't heard from the abuse team, yet the support team keeps insisting that only the abuse team can help us.

So we had to transfer Nairaland to a temporary host in order to bring it back to you. A VERY time-consuming process. We are not fully back, even though most features of the site are working. We still have a long way to go. Additional downtime is likely; don't let it alarm you.

There's a lot more to say, but I have to go back to work to ensure that our return is permanent. Please forgive us for the stress we caused. We appreciate the love and support that you showed us during the ordeal. Nairaland is too important for us to let this happen again.

Best Regards,

I have not tried all the features to know what is not working but I am sure it works better than before. I can now access Nairaland with my VPN on unlike before that it keeps refreshing the cloudflare intrution page. I believe that was the error that took it down in the first place...

CBN and bad leadership is a threat to our lives.
Nigerian's are going through alot this period. cry
They are trying to control money in circulation this festive season. Money that has lost value. This is a great height of cluelessness. If our naira has value, you can manage 20k. Now you have to transport yourself to the Bank every day if your daily expenses is above 20k or you use other payments options. But now that they have created the tension, the banks won't be seeing deposits again so they are still caged by CBN and won't be able to meet up with the 20k daily limits .
YOU CAN NOT CLOSE YOUR ACCOUNT WITH YOUR BANK And THEY Pay YOU CASH. They can only transfer to other bank that you have or no money for you.
Politics / CBN And Anti-people Policies by thesolutions(m): 10:17am On Dec 15, 2023
The year is winding up but CBN seems not to understand what the people are facing. They are still introducing policies that are crippling the economy in the name of fixing the economy.

First, they have forced banks to limit daily withdrawal to 20,000 and 50,000 naira daily for individual and corporate account holders respectfully.

They are unifying the BVN so it is used to carry out transactions per individual. What this imply is that you can not play smart by withdrawing from different account or banks to exceed this daily withdrawal limit.

They have instructed banks to introduce a very high charges to customers using banking hall to carry out transfer transactions from their individual savings account just to force them make use of mobile transfer options. This has made front tellers of these banks to be more arrogant to customers just because they want to make transfers and obtain a receipt. This attitude also affects those trying to check their balance while in the banking hall. These are uncalled for.

While most banks are daily loosing customers to mobile money/microfinance/business banks like Opay, Palm pay, moniepoint, Kuda and their likes, the commercial banks arrogance has not been tamed because they are the only institution with right to receive deposits. But this policy of daily limit will see the banks shot of deposit transactions because people will make use of the alternative which is going to POS Operators who source their funds from private businesses by offering them interest that banks can never give.

The implications of this is that CBN has deliberately shifted the pressure from commercial banks to business owners. This will increase the painns of the masses as the wealthy will always have their ways and business owners won't feel the cash crunch.
In essence, CBN is increasing the volume of unbanked money in circulation in attempt to regulate physical cash inflow. This is bad.

Again, greedy commercial banks are going to embark on another sacking spree because the volume of daily transactions from their banking halls will fall. This still will not improve the economy that CBN is trying to save with cosmetic approach.

Just like the EFCC chairman has said, it is not wise to shut down a business built with proceeds of corruption. It is not wise to destroy ships and vessels and crude oil recovered from oil thief. Neither is it right to destroy drugs and consignments from illegal routes, the CBN should not see the wealthy as enemy of the economy with all these policies targeted at the rich which later fall on the masses.

The CBN should rather advice government on cutting taxes and harassment so that people can invest their wealth. While it is good to control the amount of physical cash in circulation, when people are forced to keep hiding cash because of this policies of limiting cash withdrawal, the economy suffers and the CBN would print more money to cover the shortfall.

The CBN should float the cash. They should introduce a very high denomination of currency so that those who intend to hide physical cash or looted cash will keep them in high denomination so that people can do their daily business. These monies are piece of paper.

eddie7:
right
Die if you like , the dollar will keep rising against the naira !!!
Oni Gbolabo

People in Government must read and heed these:
1. Appreciation and depreciation of currency is not related to race or color. It isn't who is the President either; be he Hausa ,Igbo or Yoruba. It is basically about the production of goods and services and the demand of your products in the world market. A confused country that produces almost next to nothing will never meet up. Policies only control your currency, not the value of other countries' currencies against yours.
Not true. Policies regulate how foreign currencies earned by the government is used. This means government places value on the foreign currency it earned.

2. A country where over 500 industries died within 30 years must be stupid to complain of depreciation of her currency. We keep killing local industries and expect policies to make it up, it's a joke sir. Don't use China as an example of depreciating currencies and strong economy. China produces and may attract more export with that strategy, unlike Nigeria that produces nothing.
Companies that are unable to improvice to lower cost of production is surely doomed to shut down when competitors are able to achieve this. China has been able to lower cost of production in Chinese currency. Again, China has been able to achieve self sustenance and so they can devalue their currency to export excess product to earn foreign exchange from countries that are in need of cheap sub-standard products.

3. A country where someone made away with $2+billion simply to be shared , is already a doomed one in terms of monetary policy and value. A country that produces a Dizeani and a Bafarawa , who spent billions to appease demons. Those money without economic value is an economic waste and poison injected into the system.
No doubt that corruption is a menace. But the two you mentioned are lesser thieves than the alot of other government officials.

4. A country that favours importation over local production is doomed because it creates employment for other countries while sacking her own citizens. Some people are working in Michelin and Dunlop somewhere, yet we use the tyre here. Don't tell me about the principle of comparative advantage here; it's not applicable.

5. A country that exports all raw materials without adding value to them, is shameless to talk of depreciation of her currency, and will later re-import finished products of those materials, is the peak of daftness. A bag of cocoa will go for, like N1 million naira, but when it is processed, its worth is around N7million. Even farmers who produced the raw cocoa can't buy the end product....chocolate!!

6. A country that deliberately operates a banking system that gives loans to importers at the expense of local industries , is doomed and should say nothing about depreciation. Most of the loans are given to senators and representatives not industrialists.

7. A country that give loans in billions to the agric sector without monitoring & evaluation of such loan on how it gets to the real farmers, is a sham. A guy collected over N2 billion agric loan, he bought a jeep, built a nice house and used the rest to import processed pork. Meanwhile, local pork farmers are dying here. Is that not double tragedy, stressing forex and at the same time killing local industries.?

8. A country that spends more on few privileged politicians at the cost of the populace who are unemployed , should not talk about money depreciation. A country that keeps paying NNPC staff N10 billion as salaries every month, when a single drop of petroleum products was not processed ,should shut up about depreciation of currency. The only value-added product to the system is rising crime and criminality !!

9. A country where it is difficult for investors to register businesses because of the demand fir bribes by governent officials. Right from the airport to the hotel; to the ministers and to governors, investors will bribe. All these are part of cost of investment. A friend brought an investor on estate development just for the state Commissioner for Lands to demand 30% of the investment ! To see the governor in a state will cost you N2 million as bribe before you can be scheduled. This is a state as poor as anything.

10. A country where the cost of travelling for treatment abroad by govt officials will build world class hospitals, should not talk about naira against dollar parity. Money taken on that trip is part of stress on forex. Same as forex spent on pilgrimage. Let religion fanatics keep off me here. Without going to Mecca or Jerusalem, you can still make heaven. Yes! You waste forex on pilgrimage and later talk rubbish about forex. Pilgrims get dollars for N160 while industries get it for N350 ! Is that not crazy ?

11. A country where a
few people have access to federal reserves and those few can get loans, not because of what they can produce but the connection they have... Is that country not doomed already?

12. A country where we import what we produce because it's "cheaper" to do so, is doomed.

13. A country that has arable land and teeming idle youths but still complains of hunger, should not talk about currency depreciation. It's not only annoying but nauseating.

14. A country where free money flows can never control inflow and outflow of forex. Imagine someone who wants to hide his loot went to "Aboki ", the forex dealer , to buy dollars worth $50 million just to hide it in the basement of his house. That money has no economic value , yet it deprived those companies that needed it to import raw material. The same companies go to "Aboki " to buy the hard currency at exorbitant price.

15. A country where a strong bank owner can influence shares from within the Stock Exchange floor to inflate their shares' worth from N20 to N150, crash the same share to N30 and ready to buy it back at N28, all within a year. Forget it, the currency will never appreciate in such an economy.

16. A country where banks are involved in round-tripping and inflated cost to siphon money, is doomed. A company wants to import caterpillar worth $50,000. A bank made the forex for such import $550,000. Meanwhile no caterpillar was imported at last, yet the money faded into private accounts. Who strained the forex exchange rate in that case?

Let's think and reason well for the future of this country.

Are you saying this based on a factual actual Country that you know of or based on your ignorance?

In developed worlds court convictions are public records and anyone can access it, you don’t even red to be a company to do that. The only exception are juvenile convictions that are sealed.

That is why if you commit a crime in developed countries it will be difficult if not impossible for you to land that your dream job, because the company’s HR would pull a background check on you and they will get all your criminal history.

As a result of this unemployment among those who have completed their prison sentences, the government of many developed countries in an effort to help reabsorb ex-convicts back into society and to help reduce the chance of fall back into crimes, give companies certain incentives e.g. Tax breaks, special treatments, etc if they hire and retain ex-convicts.

Though Baba Osho did not mentioned names, those in the know, know that he is referring to Chinese Companies. Their Government give these companies incentives in China to hire these people and they hire them and ship them to Africa to work this way if they fall back into crimes, it will be the host Countries eg Nigeria and not China that would bear the consequences.
There is a difference between prisoners and ex-convict. While I perfectly understood your view of government trying to integrate ex-con to the society, government can not take such steps for prisoners who are serving their terms. If any government would do that for anyone, it is usually under mutual agreement for the convict who is probably a government asset and they do that by giving the beneficiary a new identify. Understand this and rest. Prisoners and ex-convict are not the same and the topic mentioned prisoners and not ex-convicts.

Apply some wisdom!

Western countries and China have good criminal databases and any person behind a keyboard with an internet access can look criminal records of anyone in those countries whereas that is not possible with Nigeria.

In most of these countries these information are public knowledge.
No company can have access to inmates without it government consent and no government will release an inmate to a company without providing new identities to the inmates. So if new identities are given to such persons, how do you look it up given that you can only see what the government want you to see. So baba is working with here say even if it is 100% possiblity of truth.
No government will release an inmate to another country without providing them with new identities.
