Politics / Re: Why Are Majority Tribes African Men Huge Under Achievers by thesolutions(m): 11:40am On Sep 21

Why can't these tribes not utilize power properly?

African are virtually the poorest men in the world
We do not have community building mentality.
It is all man for himself here in Africa, Nigeria in particular.
People complaining about government are only angry because they are not direct beneficiary of the government largesse.

In Jos for instance, many people praise the governorship tenor of Joshua Dariye even though he did not embark on development projects for the state. His government mantra was "chop I chop". That is the government that most Nigerians want.

Every one that occupied the seats of leadership in this country has an agenda. They can not tell you their agenda because you won't consider them as an option if they do. So the make public campaign promises to please the media even though they do not expect to win from those campaigns but by preplanned poling heist.

The African leaders are doing well as long as their tenet is concerned.
How many of them is complaining of hardships and inflation?
How many of them look sad and actually visit the people they govern in an open space?

The goal is self settling and creating mechanism for continuity, or at least, constant flow of the nations resources to themselves and families.

The problem is not the president. It is everyone involved in governance. It is not about major tribe or minor tribes. It is a program. It is little of fear of the unknown and major of the maximum utilization of power.

Politics / Re: Naira Devaluation Could Be A War Against China by thesolutions(m): 9:30am On Sep 13
MadPolitician:

You do remember that Nigeria imports almost all her chemicals for say pharmaceuticals? If you don't buy these chemicals that totslly essential for producing medicines from China, then you have two options left: buy from other sources, (in which case you will still expend foreign exchange), or don't buy at all and die. You do not have local chemicals factories for your pharmaceutical industry, and you are raising tariffs on imported chemicals! Is your head not paining you?

When people talk about restricting imports without talking about solid measures being put in place to provide local substitutes by the government, they sound hollow. Most imports are basic essentials that will take Nigeria almost a decade to start off the manufacturing of anything near the equivalent locally, even if we start the construction of the factories today.
You can'tput the cart before the horse .

What is going on in Abuja is nothing but the height of political debauchery. I honestly think that the Lagos gang in power became jealous of our traditional importers and reached for the crudest antics to circumvent their activities and share in their earnings. I say this because the government did not just stop at deregulating the exchange rate, they went as far as rasing import duties across board and interest rates. They just want to collect as much as they can from the gains of the importers.

Nothing else makes sense
The essence of the write-up is not to restrict Nigeria/China trade but for China to do something about the value of it currency against naira so as to reverse the decline in trade over the years. Although, China has created back door to this decline with their investments in fintechs in Africa, it still needs to encourage physical trades on products from China as it will keep Chinese engaged with production activities without stockpiling their warehouses.

I understand that there is a deliberate war against business men from certain part of Nigeria. That is why I did not bother saying anything as advice to the Nigerian government because they are deliberate in their policies.. My concern is how China is handling it. They need to devalue their currency further.

Oga, you are one of the problems we have here. Do you have sense at all

So private filling station should ADJUST their meters as they like? We buy fuel over 1k at almost half a liter as one litre? Are you really okay ?
Licensed Private petrol stations do not adjust their meters. It is the Managers of those stations that do that for their own benefit.
That is why the government needs to have it stations that they can regulate and ensure availability of products at all times so that commuters can have options and avoid stations with fraudulent management. When more of the fraudulent stations are pushed out of business, others will behave.

Since trade with china has been hampered by exchange rate difference and government policies, the decline in forex earnings of china from Nigeria has dipped.

China had relied mostly on Africa and the middle east to source for dollar as it devalued it currency for the African market and middle east inclusive.
But the current exchange rate and policies of CBN on payment of goods to international vendors have made it difficult for easy trade that will see Nigeria for instance, exchange it forex for products from China.

Before now, AliExpress was a popular name for Nigerians buying items online. But that has become a luxury as government policies is affecting such transactions at the moment.

MEEVEET:
the ignorance in this post is shocking

How can a normal human believe dangote refinery would make ppetrol cheaper? How na

Is he getting crude cheaper?
Dangote will make petrol cheaper. It is expected to be cheaper than Diesel by 30%
So dangote will not sell fuel more than 700 per liter and it is expected to drop further than that. Again, the price of crude oil is dipping. We can only expect the best from Dangote petrochemicals. His only challenge is converting the naira to dollar using our current exchange rate. I believe government is going to work on that by selling to dangote at a lower market price. It is all win win for dangote against the auto pilot government.
Politics / Dangote Petrol Will Crash The Price If.... by thesolutions(m): 6:30am On Sep 13
I can not but notice that forces are making offers to dangote so as to be the sole trader of dangote Petrol. Dangote as a business man will go for what will favor him but I believe he has seen enough not to embark on such deal because of easier access to crude oil and foreign exchange promised.

Currently, Fuel sell at the same price with Diesel which should not be. What this means is that dangote fuel will sell far below Diesel so that more people won't convert their fuel engine to Diesel engine as I have noticed around me.

But the forces are offering buy back offer to dangote so as to maintain the status quo only that the crude won't be going outside our borders. This arrangement will have to keep subsidy in place which means no change expected at the end.

The government should insist on no subsidy while experimenting on dangote for the first six months of it sell of fuel to see the challenges the nation will face and then make plans to solve any that may arise. Then they will have to evaluate/audit NNPC company during these period to know what to do with it.

I believe they intend to say that import has reduced drastically owing to high exchange rate to dollar.

Great move.
But that is not the solution.
Every state should have state owned petrol stations to check these private owned stations.
If any one becomes greedy, they are pushed out of business.

If it cost #1000 when it's imported, buying from Dangote won't make it become #500, pata pata #800-#950.

But the benefit of producing it locally far outweigh the price it will be sold. Dangote can't sell at an outrageous price
The benefits of producing it locally is that it will make forex available for government to spend frivolously. As long as government is not spending forex on machineries and industrial equipments, it only benefits those whose need for ferex is only tourism to other nations.
If government spending it forex on machineries for industrial revolution is not seen on daily bases, the economy will either remain the same or get worse even with improved local private participation in production.

Dangote won't sell below the market price in naira. He's not in business to make a loss. Price will eventually fall sha, when the naira start gaining value before Dec 2024.
you sure knows he won't make a loss if he sells at half market price. The product is a bye product just like tar. If we have a serious government, a working refinery will determine the price dangote will sell theirs. In just few days of his refinery operation, he has regained his status as Africa's richest man. Give him 2 years without price control, he will be gunning for top 5 in the world.
Price control won't affect his company. It will control his wealth.
