You do not start your industrialization or developmental journey on energy from a key internationally traded commodity because you simply cannot control the price. Big markets, big consumers do.

Most nations that made the tiger leap in the 70's, 80'and 90's did so on th back of coal. Coal remains the cheapest source of energy and I just do not understand how we can possibly develop without energy from coal plants. The biggest energy producer in Africa, South Africa relies up to 80 percent on fossils of which coal plants dominate.

As the world goes green and coal plants gradually decommission the falling prices of coal should make it even more attractive for us to generate relatively cheap electricity to trigger our own industrial revolution. This will also enable us export 100 percent of our gas for badly needed foreign exchange.

After a number of decades of affordable electricity we too can start utilizing more exotic fuels and cleaner technologies because we should by then be able to afford them.

Our priority now should be cheap energy no matter the cost or we will never industrialize and never prosper. We just cannot afford the gas even we produce.

Rightly said. The best way to move forward faster is to lean back for a moment and thrust forward.
Cheap energy is necessary. But who has the capacity to delve into that and sustain the annual power generation growth by exploring not just coal, but hydro, wind and solar. Most of these could be fabricated locally but government would prefer to allocate huge amounts for importation of these products and handled by foreign companies who would be responsible for maintaining same while they reap the benefits in kickbacks. In the end, maintenance cost becomes unsustainable leading to failure of the equipment.

The best any government can do is to make use of local technicians and technology so that maintenance won't become a challenge like our refineries has been.

Connectivity like every other good inventions of this age has been monitized. So it development can not go beyond what we currently have, else we won't be dependent on satellite for connectivity.

Even federal government had to install 10 billion naira worth of solar in Aso Rock because they can not meet up with 47 billion naira bill for power consumption so how do you expect the ordinary citizens to cope.

You weren't paying attention really. The report didn't state that he was shot by hoodlums. It didn't also state that he was shot by accident during the video shoot.
If you don't ask how he got injured by gun shot then you are part of the skit.
No one wishes him death or harm but the report is not clear and is only attracting sympathy.

Good evening everyone

This story I am about to say happened to me but I don't really care if you believe because even me won't believe it if someone told me.

I remember that year was 2010 when I was in 200 level, I remember me and my guys used to go to night class to read but this fateful day I was the only one that had papers the following day and it's not advisable I read in the hostel because there will always be distraction.

So I decided to go to night class alone,my phone was fully charged with my earpiece at standby. Around 3am I was done and was on my way home with my earpiece blasting music at d highest volume, as I was approaching the hostel I saw a man I believe was a student and also coming from night class moving from one edge of the gate to another.

At first I really didn't pay much attention because I believe he was a student like me coming from class, he wore white jalamia and was moving from one edge of the gate to the other. I believe he was trying to call people in the hostel to open the gate for him.

As I got close to him I realized this guy's legs weren't touching the ground, like he was floating sharply I comot earpiece stop music to observe my surroundings. Lo and behold this guy wasn't calling anyone's name and he wasn't even knocking at the gate but was murmuring.

That moment, I nearly ran mad. It was that day I realized that when your speed is too much your trouser can tear on the run, I lost everything I had on me that day, my phone, bag, earpiece, slippers and everything, I couldn't wait to knock on the gate for my roommate to open, I climb fence straight up.

He asked me what happened, I just told him some guys tried to rob me because I knew he won't believe it and even me won't believe it if you tell me.

It was the following morning, very early that I went to pick some of the things I could find....since then anything anyone is talking about spirituality or things like ghost, I don't argue or counter it because if you haven't experienced it you won't believe it.

Diesel price is between 1,650 to 1,700 against 1,000 to 1,050 that it used to be.

States already enrolled in Dangote free delivery should offer lower price for the product. Others would have to recover their transportation cost.

Now it is costs from government agencies and not that the government is failing to supply crude as at when due.

They claim that they are buying Nigerian crude from third party. They failed to mention that this crude they are sourcing from third party was initially supplied by the government in dollars besides the crude in naira volume agreement so that government can arguments it dollar deficit but Dangote's greed did not hold back. He chose to stop seles in Naira and started selling in dollars claiming that he has exhausted the crude for naira volume agreement with the government. He doesn't want government to benefit from the refinery or the crude oil.

Again, most of the increments announced by dangote are speculative. No products were offered to the customers during the increase above 995. So why announce price increase when no product were offered.

This was a deliberate crisis invention and it is working it purpose.
Government now restarted CNG conversion kits distribution at the expense of the government so that beneficiaries can buy dangote CNG. It will also reduce the volume of petrol consumed locally so he can export the excess for foreign currency.

This is not business. This is tyranny.

Has engine oil, greeze and plastics increased in price yet? Are they not bye products of same oil? The increase are just because demand has increased. If other countries especially the middle east are in the market with there products, will this increase happen. It's all part of taking advantage of an urgly situation.

Diesel is 1450 to 1,600. Cost of production and transportation has just multiplied.
Government placed tariffs on batteries and and solar panels to prevent more people going off the grid for selfish revenue accrual.
The grid supplies power mostly at night when productivity is close to zero.
Why are there no plans to explore EVs?
No. Government has no plans for development of the country. If they do, they would know where to start.

As for dangote, he has to sell the CNG that his refinery is producing. The talk about CNG was high few years ago but no one is concerned about it after he jacked the price up. His alternative after most truck owners rejected the CNG is to roll out free delivery of products purchased from his industries by factoring in the transportation cost using marginal increase in the price of the products using his CNG Trucks.
Now he has seen an opening. US/ISRAEL/IRAN crisis has placed importation on hold. He has no competition. He has increased the price of diesel by 50% to make it more expensive for marketers to transport products themselves. The goal is for everyone to fallback to him either enrol in the free delivery program or migrate to CNG trucks.
He has nothing to loose. Only gains and more gains.

The government didn't listen and at least focus on Diesel production which could have stopped this moves in this kind of situation.
Power generation is going to zero because the cost of diesel is beyond normal.

Next to tumble is our exchange rate. Everything is going to be 3times the current price.

Free delivery is about to commence.
Diesel prices has gone up 1,350 to 1,500 naira per liter.
Transportation cost has gone up from between 35-60 naira per liter to between 60-100 naira per liter.
Feasible price for fuel now is between 1,100 to 1,200
Marketers have to enroll in the free delivery or loose out.
Just know that the transportation cost has already been factored in in the price per liter. If you choose self delivery, you would be paying transportation cost twice.
No one wins against Dangote.

I pay 25k per month and I only watch football matches on DSTV and not all the time.

Sometimes I may only watch matches 3 times a month due to work schedule on top 25k

Install a satellite TV for general viewing.
Get smart TV and get good router for streaming the matches online. You can only consume data when you stream.

I think you should do more research on Nigeria history. The name Biafra was actually the suggestion of an Ijaw man called Frank Opigo, head of the Yenagoa province of the old Eastern Region. A lot of people tend to forget that all the Chiefs and heads of the 20 provinces that made up the old Eastern Region met in Enugu(Eastern Nigeria Consultative Forum) where they discussed for two days, voted and mandated Ojukwu to declare the Eastern Region a seperate country called Biafra. When Opigo was called to speak at the conference, he suggested that the name of the new country be called "Biafra".

So indigenous West Africans chose the name Biafra, unlike the name Nigeria that was created in London by a white woman, imported into West Aftica by her boyfriend, and imposed on people by force
