TMKsouth: We did kwaito first . We did House first . We did Gqom first . We doing amapiano first . Meanwhile, afrobeats is a West African sound not uniquely Nigerian, whereas all SA genres originate in SA. Even in SA afrobeats didn't take over like it did in the rest of Africa coz House and Gqom were holding the fort.
The only Master KG song I know is Jerusalema - like I said, I rarely listen to that music unless I'm in the club.
Right now I have these songs on repeat:
Western 1. Arcade by Duncan Laurence 2. Black Eyed Peas, Shakira - Girl Like Me 3. Good Things Fall Apart by Illenium 4. Call Me By Your Name by Lil Nas X 5. Willow by Taylor Swift
African (I'm listening to classics since electronic music has now taken over) 1. Anything Zahara, Nathi, Vusi Nova 2. Sho Madjozi, Majozi, Jozi (all different artists)
Nigerian songs on my phone playlist: 1. Nwa Baby by Flavour 2. Particula by Major Lazer
Try them all out at some point. afrobeats originated in Lagos Nigeria anybody else is just a copycat even if you don't like amapiano you should try to support it I'll try the non Nigerian songs the flavour song is not my thing, particular is nasty c and jidenna is a nice combo if you don't like electronic you might like àṣà and aramide |

TMKsouth: Listen, there are other things I like from Nigeria but afrobeats is not one of them. You'll just have to respect my freedom of choice - it's a human right. I'm not against that I'm just really pissed by your way of screaming "autotune" like an anthem |

I'm just being honest. honest but wrong
very wrong
you're trying to use autotune to discredit years of dedication and hardwork
listen to what if I say by fireboy
autotune my dirty left foot
good bye! |

1326six: [s][/s] you will still cancel your destiny TMKsouth: Dude, I'm not even into amapiano (can't even name one artist in SA) but some of the songs are catchy, I must admit. I salute our boys and gals for coming up with a unique sound anyway and not copying afrobeats like the rest of Africa following Nigeria like sheep - that's how we roll in SA... trendsetting Anyway, i listen to western and afro pop most of the time but i'll check out Southy Love just now. other African countries have nice genres too Congo Cameroon etc I really love master KG trendsetting?? how many trends have you set? give me your favourite western and afropop songs I can deduce what kinda person you're |

TMKsouth: Not bad hearing it for the first time - very catchy beat at times but not iconic. It's got that one afrobeats element I hate the most though... AUTOTUNE . How do u guys cope at concerts when your artists have to use their real voices ? I get a sense they don't have good voices and they use autotune to mask that. Plus i was expecting effortless SA type dancing.
Anyway, I guess it's much nicer in Naija where u understand the words and undertones. chai then you don't like afro songs autotune is used everywhere stop fooling yourself Im beginning to think you're obsessed with autotune like how exactly was autotune used on that song? go and listen to live versions of those artistes autotune or not music is music and we will take over the universe listen to essence by Wizkid ft tems ft Justin Bieber was autotune used? you dey make me vex sef |

TMKsouth: Yeah I get that part, it's similar in SA. There are also a lot of unemployed graduates in SA as well. The government argues they studied stuff the economy doesn't need. But recently they flew in Cuban doctors to come fight Covid in the rural areas even though we have hundreds of unemployed doctors. So, when South Africans cry that foreigners are taking their jobs there's some truth to that (it's not simply xenophobia), and the government has a hand in it coz this replicates itself throughout the entire system. yeah true but Cuban doctors are expected to be very competent Cuba has the best medical sector in the world and off course the Ciggar |

TMKsouth: Oh, I sent the wrong one?! I don't listen to afrobeats though - it doesn't appeal to me (nothing personal).
I was just pulling your leg with the bad English thing - why u crying now?
Whoa, didn't know French is compulsory in Nigerian schools . Are u for real - in all public schools throughout the country?
I get what Yoruba is now - it's like the Nguni and Sotho language groups in SA.
Sotho = Sepedi (Northern Sotho), Tswana, Sotho (Southern Sotho)
Nguni = Zulu, Xhosa, Ndebele, Swati it's actually not afrobeats it's a type of amapiano we also make nice amapiano check out southy love by fireboy and peruzzi(yeah you guessed right, it's about a south African girl) check out KPK by mohbad and as usual the Nigerian amapiano singer niniola many people have made fun of my typing style maybe that's why I'm on a defensive not really 'cause unlike there we all speak Yoruba but different types just like American and British English are different |

TMKsouth: Substantiate.
Aren't u guys also boasting about how SA would fall apart without you ? And now I'm agreeing we poach your professionals and you're disagreeing - changing your tune.
I guess your aim is just to win the arguement even if the truth becomes the casualty. I don't care they making the money and sending back Nigerian remittance is one of the highest in the world the money matters there are a lot of MSc graduates with no jobs |

TMKsouth: 1. Whoa , Yoruba is that complex? I hear on YouTube most of u guys in Nigeria can't speak your mother tongues fluently. Is it true? Nigerian YouTubers in SA are often amazed South Africans speak African languages 100% of the time.
4. I did french fir a semester actually, but it was basic stuff and have forgotten most of it. Like what is one gonna do with French in Southern Africa, makes sense for u over there sandwiched by black France
5. Actually, i'd give u 4/10 for English
If Yoruba is spoken in Benin and Togo does that mean Nigerian Yorubas are concentrated in the West of the country?
As for Burnas Mozambique trip, I have no idea what Yaba Buluku means (haven't heard it either). Moz also has dozens of its own languages, I'm familiar with Tsonga. But I googled the song and here are the English translations.
https://afrikalyrics.com/dj-tarico-yaba-buluku-translation yeah it's really complex you see Yoruba is just like a blanket term for about 22 sub ethnic groups that are related so we all have our dialects and use the central standard Yoruba as a lingua franca that's false we speak out languages amongst ourselves you see, since there are so many languages we use the pidgin for everyday lives instead but we still speak our languages pidgin is a unity language probably those YouTubers are "Omo butty" posh people that their parents were all about the ₦$ French is taught here and is cumpulsory till high school(senior secondary) I didn't listen in class though I felt it was a waste of time my English is actually very very good I was one of the best in my class I read two dictionaries in my middle school time I studied English till it started affecting my Yoruba besides it's a foreign language I read and understood Wole Ṣoyinka's verbose vocabulary books as little as 10 so I don't care the reason you think my English is bad is because I argue a lot and I don't really like typing that's why I barely punctuate and I write sentence by sentence I'm used to it it's one of the characteristics you use to know that I am the authentic thetranslator yeah we are in the west of Nigeria thanks though actually that's the real song I'm talking of the one with Burna |

TMKsouth: It's no biggie, most black South Africans can hold a decent conversation in atleast 6 languages excluding English coz many are related (like Spanish and Portuguese are).
So I can go to: 1. Namibia and speak Afrikaans (5 out of 10) 2. Botswana - Tswana (8/10) 3. Zimbabwe - Ndebele (5/10) 4. Mozambique - Tsonga (3/10) 5. Swaziland - Swati (5/10) 6. Lesotho - Sotho (9/10)
And the rest are South African (Sepedi, Zulu, Xhosa). Tsonga and Venda are pretty tricky - thats why I said I can speak 9 out of our 11 languages, I was excluding them.
How bout you - apart from Yoruba and English? 1.Yoruba the language of my ancestors (6/10) it's really complex and has many dialects I wanna learn about 15 dialects actually 2.Pidgin (9/10) of course 3.Spanish(3/10) 4.French (3/10) 5.English(8/10) so I can go through west Africa Yoruba is spoken in Togo, Benin pidgin is spoken all over west Africa pidgin is all i need it's very easy to learn most European languages if you understand English they are basically the same Burna boy sang in Mozambique recently Yaba buluku can you translate? |

TMKsouth: We emigrate for completely legit reasons and not to hustle and become a nuisance. And crossing the Mediterranean via Libya or riding crocodiles over the Limpopo river into SA is not exactly emigration, it's refugeeing.
And in case u didn't know, the UK is a major poacher of SA skills - and in return we poach African skills. Levels u see Who's Nigeria poaching from? that's trash we don't "refugeer" or whatever you say we add to any society we go to you poach African skills? Wetin you smoke? |
