Henhen? So, Papa Rolling Dollars actually rolled all the dollars with him? Wives of the late veteran musician, Fatai Rolling Dollar, has come out to say that the veteran singer did not leave any money behind. In an interview with the Punch newspaper, Zainab was quoted as saying that the family was apprehensive of how to cater for the children of the late artiste, who she said, did not leave anything behind. Another of his wives, Serifat, further buttressed the point by saying “Our husband did not leave any money. We hope his fans and government will stand by us. The major challenge we are facing right now is how to ensure that our children continue their education. I am a businesswoman and I only survive on the little profit I make”. The musician reportedly married five wives and had nine children. Two women who were with him until his death gave birth to four of the children. The eldest of the four children is aged 12 and he is in primary five whilst the eldest child in the family, Sikiru, is 50 years old. Another of his children, Jamiu, also expressed fears about the continuity of his education. Now, what I don't get is...did the veteran actor actually leave nothing before he died or the amount that he left is too small to share among the wives and children? You expecting an answer from me? *clasps hands..."I don't know o..!" http://www.tutubranch.com/2013/06/rolling-dollar-money-wives.html

The award for the world's most dangerous airport goes to...the Lukla airport at the gateway to Mount Everest! Here, passengers celebrate every safe landing...lol! At an altitude of 2,843 meters (9,325 feet), the small airstrip has earned a reputation as one of the most extreme and dangerous airports in the world. The single runway is narrow, short and sloped. Miss the runway by a few meters (or feet) and the plane would hit a mountain. "After you cross the river there is no turning back, you have to land," said Pramod Poudel, a Tara Air pilot who has flown hundreds of these flights to Lukla. Because there is no way to go around again, we have to calculate many things like air speed, tail wind, fog," he said. "If you don't do the proper calculation or proper exercise, then it" — meaning an accident — "happens." In 2004 and 2008, 3 and 18 people were killed respectively in an accident at the airport, same in August 2010 (14 people). One plane was unable to stop on the short runway and smashed into a wall. Another skidded off the runway. A third lost its front landing gear as it tried to land and skidded down the runway, forcing the airport to shut for two days. No one was killed in those crashes. Well, seems like the airport would be an interesting place you may want to consider for the next sight-seeing. And really, it is fast becoming a tourist zone...I'd encourage you to visit *winks* but please don't go there with a plane! http://www.tutubranch.com/2013/06/world-most-dangerous-airport.html

The remains of a yet-to-be-identified female have been found at the back of Jastok Guest House, Under G at the Ladoke Akintola University, Ogbomoso. In what can best be described as a mystery, no one is yet able to come up with who the dead lady is and how the body got there. According to reports, the Students Union Government (SUG) are looking into the case. This kind of an occurence is really disheartening. Could she be a student of LAUTECH? Has any female student been reported to be missing over the past few days. Surely, the perpetrators of this crime must be brought to book! The picture is really gory and viewer discretion is advised, but click here to see the photo, if you choose to. http://www.tutubranch.com/2013/06/lautech-female-student-murdered.html

A young teen, Devalon Armstrong (13) has beat his little half-sister to death using wrestling moves he’d copied from the TV. According to police reports, Devalon was babysitting his younger sibling on Sunday afternoon when he decided to test out some moves he’d seen on World Wrestling Entertainment. He is accused of repeatedly slamming Viloude Louis, 5, onto a bed, punching her in the stomach, jumping on her back and elbow-dropping into her kidneys. She suffered broken ribs, internal bleeding and liver lacerations from the brutal bashing at their Terrytown, Louisiana, home. Later complaining of having a stomach ache, she went upstairs to brush her teeth — before being found by her brother 30 minutes later in crippling pain on the bathroom floor. Realizing she was no longer breathing, he took her downstairs to the sofa and dialed 911. Paramedics arrived on the scene but found her unresponsive and she was pronounced dead soon after. The Times-Picayune reports that the suspect is being held at a Juvenile detention center after he confessed to carrying out the moves. Really, really sad. http://www.tutubranch.com/2013/06/boy-kill-wrestling-moves.html

According to NYT, unemployed teacher, Candace Scott, found a bag filled with about $20,000 in cash on the side of the road. The honest woman turned it in to her local Chase bank after seeing the company’s logo on bands around the money . One man’s dirty diaper is another woman’s cash cow. The unemployed teacher driving in College Station, Texas, on Tuesday morning spotted a bag on the road that appeared to her like a soiled diaper and pulled over, thinking that someone had discarded it. Scotte was driving along the road when the bag caught her eye. Just as she made the decision to investigate, an dump truck drove over the bag, partially revealing its contents. She later found the bag contained $20,000 in cash.According to her, the thought of keeping the money did not for once cross her mind as she was torn between calling 911 to report it missing or driving it to her local police precinct. She said; "The bank teller graciously thanked the Good Samaritan for returning the money.“She told me I’m the most honest person in the world, and I said, ‘Or the dumbest.’” As the Eagle newspaper reports, Scott wasn’t left empty-handed for her honesty – she was given a $500 Chase debit card. This honest lady surely deserves to be employed after this! http://www.tutubranch.com/2013/06/unemployed-find-money-bag.html

Brymo the " Ara" crooner has finally revealed why he left Audu Maikori-led ChocolateCity. Doubts as per Brymo's departure were particularly heightened this year when Jesse Jags left the record label also. In a press conference with Nigezie presenter, Brymo referred to as the ‘son of a kapenta’ explains that his reason for leaving was a breach of contract. He goes on to say that he had to ‘dump’ the contract because ‘he knows the Nigerian law system cannot save him’. In his words: “Since I left Chocolate City, I’ve been working on my own personal stuff and seeing if I can take myself farther from where they stopped.” Check on it! http://www.tutubranch.com/2013/06/brymo-dump-contract-breaches.html |

This Rihanna is seriously a no-nonsense star and as Nigerians will say "she no send at all" (as seen in the video) The singer was performing "We Found Love" at a concert in the UK,and came down from the stage to reach out to her fans, when one overzealous fan refused to let go of her arm. The video of the incident that surfaced online shows Rihanna attempting to move along but getting pulled back by the fan's grip. In turn, Rihanna immediately smacked the fan over the head with the microphone before moving on to continue her set as if nothing happened. For mobile, see video here Rihanna was her usual unapologetic self following the occurrence, saying on Twitter that her actions were intentional. "Purpose! That b— won't let me go," she wrote in response to a user who called it an "accident." Rihanna is no stranger to obsessive fans. When she isn't being clung to at concerts, she's being stalked by crazies. A man was recently arrested on the roof of Rihanna's Pacific Palisades home, and in February a separate man pleaded guilty to breaking in to the singer's home and sleeping in one of her beds. http://www.tutubranch.com/2013/06/rihanna-strikes-fan-concert.html Twitter @tutubranch

World football ruling body, FIFA, in a statement today, has disqualified Uwa Echejile as the first goal scorer in Monday’s Confederations Cup match between Nigeria and Tahiti. As shown in the pics above, the first motorcycle made in Nigeria has been unveiled by the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI). According to the Executive Vice Chairman of the Agency, Mohammed Haruna, the federal government should hence, ban the importation of motorcycles. He proudly asserted that Nigeria has perfected the technology and manufacturing capacity to mass produce motorcycles in Nnewi, South-East Nigeria. “About 20 million Nigerians today rely on motorcycles as a means of transport and many unemployed youths and men support their families or earn a living from running motorcycle as a commercial venture. Imagine the large number of jobs that will be created if only Nigeria could close her borders against the importation of motorcycles and allow entrepreneurs to invest in the manufacturing of the parts including production of the motorcycle locally.” Nice one there…hope the Federal Government will harness the opportunities that this breakthrough brings. http://www.tutubranch.com/2013/06/locally-made-Nigeria-motorcylce.html

The UNICEF Ambassador gives advice to girls of the world Dear Girls of the World, Some of you will be familiar with the childhood rhyme, "What are little girls made of? Sugar and spice and all things nice, that's what little girls are made of." Marketing and stereotyping combine to have us believe that you're also made of pink dresses, pigtails, dolls, ringlets, ribbons, bows and tiaras. That you like cupcakes. That all you will want to be are wives and mothers. That you're more "inclined" to the arts and "better suited" to caring professions like teaching and nursing. And, maybe, that's true for some. But my daughter Salma teaches me every day that there's so much more to you -- and for you. Salma is 13, and I can count, on one hand (in fact, on one finger!), the occasions she's worn a dress -- and they've never been pink! Dolls always stayed on the shelf. She's happiest dribbling a soccer ball past her brothers and scoring goals or building model airplanes with her father. She dreams of being an engineer. That's my Salma; that's why I love her. So, when I think about girls rising, I think of girls like her and her sister, Iman. I think of the millions of courageous girls all over the Arab world and beyond who, every day, summon inner strength, surmount barriers and make a difference in their communities. Let me tell you about 16-year-old Wafa Al-Rimi. http://www.tutubranch.com/2013/06/Queen-Jordan-Letter-girls.html

In what can simply be described as a sacrilege, a sixty-year-old native doctor, Gazali Akwedola, has confessed that apart from trading in human parts, he also consumes them as the meat in his peppersoup. According to Vanguard reports, the man said; "I like eating human parts because it tastes so good and better than animal meat especially when taken with hot drink, or wine or beer.” He further disclosed how he trades in human body parts: "With the human parts, I prepare charms and concoctions for my clients. I buy the human parts from Kazeem Sanni especially the human head which he sells to me between the region of N8,000 to N 30,000. After some time, I decided to buy the complete human body for N30,000 or N40,000 because it is cheaper especially a live human. Akwedola who was arrested as a ritualist by the Special Anti-Robbery Squa(SARS) last month says his only regret in his dastardly venture is that he did not become rich after all, adding that despite his many criminal exploits, he found it difficult to feed his family.

I could not but marvel at the irony of life when I read of the controversy in America as a result of the massive leaking of information about the National Security Agency's activities to members of the public by a certain whistleblower by name, Edmund Snowden. The issue? Snowden had revealed to Guardian columnist, Glenn Greenwald, the existence of a growing stockpile of millions of phone records from the US public and direct access to files from the servers of major tech companies such as Google and Facebook. Privacy concerns there...but the NSA claims the vast mining operation is to anticipate and prevent terror plots. In any case, why should any US citizen be so afraid if he has nothing to hide? The US govt certainly have their own faults as well...the people were not aware. But that is not even my own concern...I cannot but paint the same scenario here in Naija- the air of pride with which a Nigerian government would have declared this same thing as one of the scientific and technological achievements of its administration. In this case, the government itself would blow it's own whistle. In a country like Nigeria where accurate census cannot be conducted, this same thing that is creating controversy in the US would have certainly been a course for celebration! http://www.tutubranch.com/2013/06/Edward-snowden-whistlebower-nsa.html

Being referred to as "stylish" is one thing that many of us covet. And truly, there are many tips that teach us one thing or the other about how to become stylish and look younger. Quite unconventionally though, here are some style mistakes that age you: 1. Use of bleaching creams: Some things in life are just good for the short-term but have negative consequences on the long term; such is it with the use of bleaching creams. The worst part of it is that they leave you stuck at a point where to go forward is an issue (you turn black) and to go backward is a problem (you may turn any other colour, including green). 2. Gross discontent with your body size: Yes, we all should exercise and live healthy...but never believe the myth that any body size is what is in vogue..."lepa" or "orobo". The truth is that you can hardly ever satisfy anyone with your body size as this is a subjective matter, depending on who is making the judgement. Also, do you notice that those who seem lucky enough to have the average body size are continually on the struggle not to get fat? Just enjoy yourself and live healthy! 3. Thinking all eyes are on you: If you make this mistake, you'd spend all your life savings trying to impress. Well, all eyes may be on you at an occasion but they will be removed from you as everyone returns to their destination. Then, you'd be left with no cash, worries and most times, debt. Think about it...nothing ages you faster than spending too much time thinking about the fact that you are aging and caring what strangers think! http://www.tutubranch.com/2013/06/Style-mistakes-age.html#more |
