The President of the defunct Niger Delta Peoples Volunteer Force, Alhaji Mujahedeen Asari- Dokubo, once again took a swipe at President Goodluck Jonathan and this time lambasting the President of being disappointment to the Ijaw ethnic nationality describing Jonathan as weak and unassertive as a leader.

Adding that he should hand over Gov Amaechi to the militant for them to deal with the Governor

He said this when he was reacting to the latest crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, which has led to the factionalisation of the ruling party, lamented that Jonathan
could not take bold and courageous steps to tame the dissidents.

Asari-Dokubo, who spoke in a telephone interview with osundefender correspondent, regretted that Jonathan could not act like a typical Ijaw man, who is famous for boldness and exceptional courage.

He asked the President to be guided by an Ijaw famous saying, “Ama Doko Doko Biokpo,” which he interpreted to mean “small, small towns but they are very courageous and keep hope alive.”

Asari-Dokubo said he was unimpressed by “what he called poor response” to the crisis rocking the PDP by the Presidency and advised Jonathan to emulate former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who confronted and dealt with the dissidents in the party during his tenure.

He recalled how Obasanjo allegedly wielded power to quench the insurgency led by a former Delta State Governor, Chief James Ibori,within the PDP, against his re-election in 2003.
To this end, he asked Jonathan to stop further peace talks and negotiation with the dissident governors and their collaborators, including Obasanjo and former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar.

He said Jonathan only needed to sit up and demonstrate uncommon courage to subdue his political enemies, adding that the crisis was orchestrated to frustrate his second term ambition.

Asari-Dokubo decried the recent statement credited to Abubakar Gumi that the killings in the North would stop as soon as Jonathan renounced his second term bid, adding that the cleric and his co-travellers were cashing in on the weakness of the President.

He nonetheless expressed the conviction that the plot against Jonathan would fail.
He said: “Jonathan is disgracing the Ijaw people and people of the South-South by negotiating with these dissidents. I am terribly annoyed by the way he is handling this issue, he is a disgrace. If he cannot withstand them he should tell us because there is no basis for negotiation.

“This is the time for Jonathan to act like an Ijaw man and he should stop disgracing us.
“Jonathan should hit them and he should tell usif he cannot hit them so that we can help him to hit them mercilessly. I have the potential to hit them hard. It is on record that I once held Nigeria hostage and Nigeria could not produce oil for 48 hours and my activities forced the prices of crude oil globally to rise by $30 one day. It was unprecedented and I can repeat it.

“The plot against Jonathan will surely fail but the President should be decisive with these people once and for all. Jonathan should assert himself as President and put these people where they should be. Obasanjo, who is leading these people did two terms and he plotted a third term.

“There should be no negotiation with dissidents. It should be total war, no retreat, no surrender and let us see who will run first. There is time for peace and there is time for war. This is the time to go into war.

“Jonathan should know that this is the time for war and if he cannot sustain the war, we will help him to sustain it. How many governors attempted to frustrate Obasanjo? Ibori and others were united behind Atiku Abubakar to frustrate Obasanjo and they failed because Obasanjo was strong, assertive, decisive and courageous.

“Jonathan should be strong to deal with them but whether he is strong or not, we are ready to support and stand by him. It is not a one-man battle but a total war and they must be totally vanquished.”

Besides, Asari-Dokubo asked Jonathan to hand over the Rivers State Governor, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, to the ex-fighters in the Niger Delta for a decisive action.
On Amaechi, he said, “Let the security men step aside and let us see how Amaechi can come to Rivers State. Amaechi should not be protected because he has betrayed the collective interest of the Niger Delta.

“Jonathan should be decisive and look at the other way and allow us to stand on the streets for 24 hours and we will see whether this madness by Amaechi will not end.”

Incredible quick move by this military veteran turned shop clerk

The clerk Jon Lewis Alexander, a 54-year-old military veteran, was working on Sunday at in the shop when the wannabe tough guy swaggered through the door, puffing a cigarette but was told by Alexander that smoking wasn’t allowed inside.

But instead “He just took another puff and looked me dead in the eyes, like he was Billy
Badass,” Alexander said and the man’s mistakes began piling up from that second on.

“You need to give me all your f--king money,” the crook demanded.

A surveillance video shows the thief start to raise his pistol, but Alexander is quicker a he covers the man’s gun with one hand and swings his own pistol to the thug’s face with the other.

“You need to get the f--k out of here before I blow your f--king head off,” Alexander remembers saying. Then Alexander pushes a would-be robber’s gun away and draws his own pistol.

A heartbeat passes, then two as clerk and robber stand face to face, the muzzle of Alexander’s 9-mm pressed against the man’s lips.

The confrontation ends with the robber backing away from the counter and straight out the door.

Alexander stayed cool throughout the exchange — the result of a long career in “high-risk” jobs that include four tours in Iraq, early positions as a corrections officer and later work as a private investigator, he said.

“I’ve been around weapons and been around danger a lot,” he said. “It didn’t really bug me that much.”

That probably saved his life and the gunman’s. Alexander said he didn’t shoot the thief because he was able to keep the man’s weapon pointed away.

“I couldn’t see shooting the man, if he couldn’t shoot me,” Alexander said.

The owner Jeannine Dawson said she hired Alexander about four months ago. She knew about his background, but was still amazed by what she saw when she reviewed her surveillance tape.

“I was like, ‘Holy s--t,’” Dawson said. “That’s awesome.”

Marionville police have yet to make any arrests in the case. Dawson said the suspect had patronized her store in the past, but she didn’t know his name or where he lived.

Alexander is confident the cops will arrest the man soon and he said his actions were proof you don’t have to be a victim.

“Everybody’s not such an easy target,” he said. “People still are afraid, and they need to realize, hey, it’s okay to fight back.”

What an incredible feat by Alexander.

Been a moderator on NL for some of us is an exciting one, even for free! However, in Nigeria where sentiments thrives and by extension on, NL, few categories are given high priorities over other which is totally unfair. Of course, we want to celebrate our celebrities and a lot of people like gist and all, but when a lot of threads and topics that are usually coming from few particular sections usually make it to the front page, it's totally not encouraging to others. If I want to view topics that relate to family, food, travel and other, I go to the categories and get view of other inspiring minds, but when you go to celebrity section and you see all manners of topics that do not have anything to do with celebrities due to the fact that most people have realised posting them on that section will get a lot of views before they are "moderated", its, certainly not encouraging to want to come and post articles in other categories that would not only have few numbers of views but have the slimmest chances of making it to the promised land of Front page! High priority are usually given to few categories of Nairaland especially that of celebrity even when the threads and topic are irrelevant, compared to ones that are far motivating! What I mean is give level playing field to all the categories on NL so people will visit categories they want to view, drop their articles and have rest assurances that so far it front page worthy, they have higher chance of number of viewers

Shane Filan, a member of the Westlife group fell into bankrupty after falling victim to the Irish property crash.

He recounts to the Daily Mail; 'I remember my little fella, Patrick, looking in a shop window and going: "Daddy, look at that Spider-Man toy! Can I get that?
"I looked and it was £29.99. I was like: ‘That’s really expensive. We can’t get that now". He was soon forced to file for bankruptcy afterwards.

He had invested in property in his home town of Sligo and bought some apartments that doubled in value, but then the recession hit and he was left without the money to build on any of his land.

However, the irish singer is back with a new single and is gradually getting his life back on track.
