The writer really capture the true happenings in Edo PDP. Shuibu has been the one taking positive Political decisions in the past for Obaseki. That was why everything collapsed since Shuibu left.

Obaseki could not take the right political decisions. He kept shooting himself on the foot. This has made matters worst for his party. To an extent, his own blood Brother decamped from PDP 2 weeks ago

REVEALED: EDO PDP at Loggerheads with Governor Obaseki

by Thompson Jotham

In a startling revelation, Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has expressed deep concern over the wave of resignations sweeping through the ranks of the state's People's Democratic Party (PDP) across its 18 local government areas.

Sources close to the government disclosed that Governor Obaseki, in tandem with the state chairman of the PDP, has voiced apprehension regarding the mass exodus from the party during this critical period.

Allegations have surfaced suggesting that Governor Obaseki has assumed full control of the party machinery, neglecting governance responsibilities, thereby exacerbating internal rifts and contributing to the party's deteriorating state.

The state PDP chairman has openly accused the governor of prioritizing personal control over the party's affairs, which has allegedly led to an influx of insincere members seeking only to leverage their positions as Special Assistants or Senior Special Assistants. This influx, according to party sources, has become a significant nuisance and a drain on the party's and state resources.

Furthermore, the PDP in Edo State has expressed frustration at having to resort to renting crowds to bolster its public image, attributing this measure to the governor's alleged mismanagement and neglect of party interests.

In response to these developments, Governor Obaseki is reportedly set to convene an emergency meeting with his commissioners to devise strategies aimed at mitigating the crisis and restoring stability within the party.

The unfolding situation has sparked concerns about the future trajectory of the PDP in Edo State, with implications potentially extending beyond party lines into the broader political landscape.

Education / Asue Ighodalo Abscond From Schedule Meeting With State University Student by ThompsonJoo: 8:29am On Jun 22
AMBROSE ALLI UNIVERSITY STUDENTS FUME AS ASUE IGHODALO ABSENTS HIMSELF FROM SCHEDULED MEETING

Ambrose Alli University students expressed deep frustration and disappointment today as the scheduled town hall meeting with PDP gubernatorial candidate Asue Ighodalo did not materialize. The event, eagerly anticipated by students seeking clarity on the university's current state and the candidate's plans, saw many students traveling from various locations to attend.

Despite the meeting being slated for 1 PM, students had assembled as early as 11 AM, only to find themselves waiting in vain for Ighodalo, who chose not to appear. This no-show elicited mixed reactions among students, with some expressing shock at his absence while others cited the PDP's reputation for disregarding schedules. Notably, Governor Godwin Obaseki, during his tenure, similarly snubbed a university meeting, which left students feeling neglected.

Ahead of the meeting, skepticism prevailed among students, with some opting not to attend due to past experiences of guest disrespect by the party, while others attended cautiously hopeful for engagement.

Sources close to the students revealed that Ighodalo's advance team arrived at the venue and observed a palpable sense of anger among students regarding Governor Obaseki's administration of the university. They sought Ighodalo's stance on these issues, armed with evidence in the form of videos and photographs depicting unfulfilled promises made by Governor Obaseki during previous visits. Allegedly, the governor had been nicknamed "CHO-CHO-CHO GOVERNOR" by students, highlighting their dissatisfaction with his failure to deliver on promised infrastructural projects, making him the first Edo State governor in history to oversee an eight-year term without constructing any university structures as pledged during convocations.

Confronted with the students' disgruntlement and wary of potential embarrassment, Ighodalo's advance team reportedly advised him to abstain from the meeting, a decision aimed at averting further discontent.

The no-show by Asue Ighodalo has left Ambrose Alli University students disillusioned and questioning the commitment of political figures towards addressing their concerns, underscoring growing skepticism towards political promises within the student body.

Politics / Nigerians Urge National Assembly To Replace Eagle In Coat Of Arms With BAT by ThompsonJoo: 1:46pm On Jun 02
Nigerians Urge National Assembly to Replace Eagle in Coat of Arms with BAT

In a surprising development, a growing number of Nigerians are calling on the National Assembly to pass a bill that would replace the eagle in the nation's coat of arms with a bat. This movement, which has gained traction on social media and in various public forums, argues that the bat better represents resilience and adaptability, qualities seen as essential in the face of current national challenges.

Advocates for the change highlight the bat's ability to thrive in diverse environments and its role in ecosystems as a symbol of resourcefulness and survival. They contend that these traits resonate more with the Nigerian spirit than the traditional eagle, which has long been associated with strength and freedom.

Critics, however, view this proposal as unnecessary and disruptive, emphasizing the historical significance of the eagle in symbolizing the nation's aspirations. They caution against altering a well-established emblem that carries deep cultural and national meaning.

The National Assembly has yet to formally respond to the proposal, but the debate continues to spark discussions nationwide about national identity and symbolism.

Education / FG Suspends Accreditation Of Degree Certificates From Benin Republic, Togo by ThompsonJoo: 1:37pm On Jan 02
The Federal Government through the Federal Ministry of Education on Tuesday announced the suspension of accreditation of degree certificates from Benin Republic and Togo.

https://dailynigerian.com/undercover-how-daily-nigerian/#google_vignette

According to a statement on Tuesday signed by Augustina Obilor-Duru on behalf of the Director of Press and Public Relations, Federal Ministry of Education, the government lamented that “some Nigerians deploy nefarious means and unconscionable methods to get a Degree with the end objective of getting graduate job opportunities for which they are not qualified”.

It followed an investigative report by Daily Nigerian Newspaper titled “How Daily Nigerian reporter bagged Cotonou varsity degree in 6 weeks”.

According to the government, the suspension persists pending the outcome of an investigation involving the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Education of Nigeria and the two countries as well as the Department of State Security Services and the National Youths Service Corps.
The statement reads, “ The Federal Ministry of Education vehemently decries such acts and with effect from 2nd January 2024 is suspending evaluation and accreditation of degree certificates from Benin and Togo Republics pending the outcome of an investigation that would involve the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nigeria and the two countries, the ministries responsible for Education in the two countries as well the Department of State Security Services and the National Youths Service Corps.

“The Ministry therefore wish to call on the General Public to support its efforts, show understanding and provide useful information that will assist the Committee in finding lasting solutions in order to prevent further occurrence.

“The Ministry has also commenced internal administrative processes to determine the culpability or otherwise of her staff for which applicable Public Service Rules would be applied.

“The issue of degree mills institutions, i.e institutions that exist on paper or operate in clandestine manner outside the control of regulators is a global problem that all countries grapple with. FME has been contending with the problem including illegal institutions located abroad or at home preying on unsuspecting, innocent Nigerians and some desperate Nigerians who deliberately patronize such outlets. Periodically, warnings have been issued by the Ministry and NUC against the resort to such institutions and in some instances, reports made to security agencies to clamp down on the perpetrators. The ministry will continue to review its strategy to plug any loopholes, processes and procedures and deal decisively with any conniving officials.”

The PUNCH reports that in 2020, the NYSC said it would commence the prosecution of Nigerian graduates with fake credentials, especially from West African countries.

A former Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission, Prof. Abubakar Rasheed also in 2020 noted that certain Nigerians were purchasing fake degrees from degree mills in and out of Nigeria.

In September 2023, a newspaper exposed a certain London Graduate School selling fake honorary degrees to Nigerians.

Education / Ambrose Alli University Medical Students Forced To Sign An Undertaking by ThompsonJoo: 4:19pm On Dec 06, 2023
Is this not bondage ??

1. After my Part 1 MBBS (Professional) Examination, I will undertake an 18-month intercalated BSc programme in Anatomy or Physiology in the College of Medicine.

2. I will wait until anytime there is space for me to proceed to Clinical (400 Level) before I will do so.

3. I will continue to pay school fees as a medical student.

Forcing students to sign an undertaking like this on the day of their exam is madness. Even cults don't operate like this. You're asking people who have already spent 5 years in the school to sign away their futures, and every opportunity to get justice?

These are children with dreams. How can a school be so shameless?? They paid their fees, paid all the money you asked for, the government paid your salaries, and this how you're going to treat your own students? Is it because your children are not here?

Imo State Government Reserves All Hotels in the State in Anticipation of Gubernatorial Election

*Imo State, Nigeria - October 30, 2023*

In a surprising turn of events, the Imo State Government has reportedly booked all available hotels in the state ahead of the upcoming gubernatorial election. This move has raised eyebrows and generated significant public interest and speculation about the motivations behind this unprecedented action.

Sources close to the government have revealed that the decision to secure accommodations across the state was made in an effort to ensure logistical readiness for the influx of visitors expected during the gubernatorial election. The election, which is slated for November 15, 2023, is anticipated to draw a substantial number of residents, political party members, and observers to the state.

Imo State, known for its vibrant political landscape and historical significance, has witnessed intense political rivalries in the lead-up to the election. Political analysts speculate that the government's decision to book all hotels may be linked to concerns over potential disruptions and security issues during the election period.

Critics of the government, however, have expressed their reservations about this move, suggesting that it could be an attempt to manipulate the election process by controlling accommodations and influencing the movement of political stakeholders and observers.

The opposition parties have decried the state government's actions as undemocratic and have called for transparency and equal access to accommodations for all participants in the election. Legal experts are closely examining the situation to determine if such actions are within the bounds of electoral laws and regulations.

This development has added a new layer of complexity to an already contentious gubernatorial race in Imo State. As the election date draws near, all eyes will be on how the situation unfolds and whether the government's decision to book all hotels will have a significant impact on the electoral process.
