“The IPPIS is not a home-grown initiative, rather it is a prescription of the World Bank, which ultimate consequence is to create anarchy and therefore, retard the growth and development of Nigeria". The system does not, for example, capture the remuneration of staff on sabbatical, external examiners, external assessors, and Earned Academic Allowances. It does not address the movement of staff as in the case of visiting, adjunct, part-time, consultancy service, which academics "offer" across universities in Nigeria. "Implementing the IPPIS would mean asking lecturers to make the trip to the capital city of Abuja for physical biometric data capture, should lecturers not be available when IPPIS personnel visit schools for the capture." “The implementation of IPPlS in Nigerian Universities will further localise their operations and perspectives, thus negatively impacting their ranking in the global academic community". “For example, the promotion exercise in the Professional Cadre, which is subject to external assessment that may last for several months; in such cases, when the outcome of the exercise is returned positive, the beneficiary is paid arrears from the beginning of the assessment process. But this cannot be captured by IPPIS. “The IPPIS does not recognise the 70 years retirement age of academics in the professorial cadre, and 65 years for those in the non-professorial cadre, as against the 60 years in the civil service." “Technically speaking, IPPlS is a scam. It creates more problems than it pretends to solve. The IPPIS system only recognises staff members that are on permanent & pensionable appointments". “The IPPIS restricts the ability of universities to employ much-needed staff at short notice. Such staff, when recruited, may not be paid until cleared by the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF), thus creating avenues ...of corruption. The dynamism associated with staff recruitment will become cumbersome with the introduction of IPPIS". 'IPPIS will not allow for deductions from staff salaries arising from legally sanctioned union and cooperative society activities. “This will directly infringe on the constitutionally guaranteed fundamental right of staff to association." |

*Failed Edo Assembly invasion an attempted coup d’état - Obaseki* *_...says govt will take all steps necessary to defend rule of law_* *_...salutes Edo people for thwarting evil plans_* Edo State Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki, has described the failed invasion of the state House of Assembly Complex as an attempted coup d’état that is tantamount to treason and contrary to the provisions of the Nigerian Constitution. Obaseki who said this in a statewide broadcast on Friday, assured that his administration will take all steps necessary to defend the rule of law and democratic ideals. “Any person or group of persons who set out to test our will in this regard will meet with the full wrath of the law," the governor warned. He noted: "These events portend grave danger to the safety and security of our polity. It had all the hallmarks of an attempted coup d’état. “The people of Edo State rose as one to prevent the desecration of our democracy. It is however worrisome that certain persons are willing to plunge the society into avoidable anarchy and conflict just to satisfy their illegitimate objectives." According to the Governor, "the crisis in the Edo State legislature dates back to June 17th, 2019, when upon my proclamation of the 7th Edo State House of Assembly, some members-elect refused to present themselves for inauguration. “The Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State in a judgement delivered on the 12th of September, 2019, decided that my proclamation of the House of Assembly was lawful and that the National Assembly could not take over the function of the Edo State House of Assembly as the conditions for doing so did not exist. “The court judgement affirmed that the Assembly was duly inaugurated and held that the Governor or any other person could not issue another proclamation." He explained that "Even after this judgement, the 14 members-elect stayed away from the House and refused to be inaugurated to perform their elected role of representing their constituencies. Having failed to sit for over 180 sitting days, the leadership of the House of Assembly had no option but to declare their seats vacant and requested the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct fresh elections to fill the vacancies that had then been created. "Following this action by the leadership of the House, the 14 members-elect approached the Federal High Court, Abuja, to challenge the constitutionality or otherwise of the declaration of their seats vacant. This suit is still pending in the court." Obaseki noted that "This unfortunate situation has festered because a former governor of the state is bent on throwing the state into crisis ahead of the forthcoming governorship elections." "I want to salute the resolve of all well-meaning Edo people in standing up to thwart the evil plans of these undemocratic elements who are bent on perpetrating an illegal assault on our democracy by the purported inauguration in a private residence. "These events portend grave danger to the safety and security of our polity. It had all the hallmarks of an attempted coup d’état. The people of Edo State rose as one to prevent the desecration of our democracy. It is however worrisome that certain persons are willing to plunge the society into avoidable anarchy and conflict just to satisfy their illegitimate objectives. "These acts are tantamount to treason, contrary to the provisions of the Nigerian Constitution. "Be assured, dear people of Edo State, that this government will take all steps necessary to defend the rule of law and democratic ideals. Any person or group of persons who set out to test our will in this regard will meet with the full wrath of the law," he said. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_f0Uh0PyaX0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_f0Uh0PyaX0 https://www.facebook.com/100003009364285/posts/2965752486868368/

*APC MUST WAIT FOR SEPTEMBER 19, 2020 TO TEST THEIR POPULARITY AT THE POLL* September 19, 2020, the day set aside by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for Edo people to choose who governs them in the next four is just six weeks, two days away from today, Thursday, August 06, 2020. Instead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to go into the streets of Edo State to market their unsaleable and already disfigured candidate, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, who is being tried for N700 million fraud, the party is plotting to illegally and violently take over control of the state’s Assembly in order to impeach the incumbent governor, Godwin Obaseki, against the wishes of the majority of Edo people who are direct beneficiaries of the governor’s transformational strides. The invasion of the Assembly Complex at Ring Road, Benin City, by men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad on the orders of leaders of the APC is only an affirmation that the party and its candidate cannot win the governorship election in a fair contest and have resorted to illegal and violent means to topple power and cause crisis in Edo State. This deplorable act is not only condemnable but an insult to the sensitivity of Edo people. The APC must wait for September 19, 2020 to test the popularity of their Machiavellian candidate, who Edo people have always rejected and will continue to reject. The issues have become clearer; the governor is being fought by enemies of the state because he refused to share the patrimony and resources of Edo State amongst a predatory group of godfathers and political thugs. Politics should be about people, not self; Edo people will not relent in resisting the antics of selfish politicians who are hellbent on further plundering the fortunes of the state. President Muhammadu Buhari, the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, and other heads of security agencies must rein in Comr. Adams Oshiomhole, Ize-Iyamu and the APC in Edo State to avert this rape of democracy and ploy to subvert the will of majority of Edo people. #Obaseki2020 #MakingEdoGreatAgain #APCWaitForElectionInEdo Seun Lalasticala Mynd44 Fynestboi https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=2961440117299605&id=100003009364285
