Bro, I mentioned some sites to check these things. Rightmove.co.uk, Openrent, Zoopla tiptoe1: Read back and you'll see someone who got a 3bedroom apartment for £700-£750 in Manchester, there are some inner city part where you won't get it at that price. You'll be having nothing less than £1500.
Just because there are apartments rented for 5M naira per annum in Island doesn't mean you won't get an apartment rented for less than 2M nairaalso It's a simple logic, rural and urban areas.
But because your friend in UK told you he couldn't get it at that price, you believe it's impossible for every other person. Your matter taya me |

That's life for you oo. Take my case for example. I worked in a very big place in Nigeria. I stayed in a mini flat paying N300k/month. Driving a 2003 car. Many people make jest of me, infact it got to a point that I stopped keeping friends because they could not believe that's the life I was living. I was able to save much and move my family out of the country without anyone's help except God. I believe anyone can do anything with determination. Don't follow the crowd. I know a friend who got a 2bdrm house for £500 in Durham and they are fine. Cut your coat according to your cloth. Eaganguolly: Bros I taya for some people too. In Enugu here, there are places you rent a flat as high as ₦1m/yr and there are places you can get for 400k/yr which is still nice. You live you life according to your target. Everybody can never be the same. If what you what is high life you go for it while the other concentrates on other things which is their target. Am sure some people in UK have money to buy car but did not buy while some bought and later they will be complaining of tax that comes with having a car. Did the English government force you to own a car? You want to live big so you pay for it. |

Bro, some of them wants to stay in an area where things are happening or living close to other Nigerians. That's where competition starts from and they unknowingly spend more to live up to expectations. SMH Dharmie02: I think rent is cheaper up North of England. Meanwhile, a lot of people just see England as the whole of UK. Northern Ireland is a cool place from my research, cheaper cost of living and of course will have its own challenges. My 2cents |

Now, my questions to you. 1. How much will you earn per month after tax as a couple working full time? 2. Give us the breakdown of your monthly spending. 3. Include the location for clearer picture. Then, I will believe you. alphabbey1: That guy is obviously sugar coating the real scenario. Lol, "comfortably save 28m" in 2 years .. Reach there first... You will know why people just use UK as a stepping stone to better countries.... |

N 300k? How will you save that as a family with kids in Nigeria. The reason why most people can't save in UK is when they start to compete with their unreasonable fellow blacks. Is it by force to show off? You are in a foreign country, so all your mind should be how to save as much as possible to invest in Nigeria for extra income and not living an expensive life. Wo, I'm tired of these people Eaganguolly: You have a good heart. Those put up unimaginable fictions to discourage others can only succeed where the person is not determined. Even if people save £800 monthly whether as a student or couples, it is still far better than Nigeria. Does students earn in Nigeria including those running phD program? How many families can boast of saving ₦300,000 per month after expenses? |

Are you telling me a couple working full time can't earn £1,500 each here? Even with £11/hr and 40 hours a week. It's realistic. Not to talk of a professional job like Scrum which pays better. You guys better wake up from doing all these menial jobs. Professionalism is the way in UK. Modified: Change your location if you spend too much on bills. My 2 cents emperorlaqrin: Honestly I just ignored his analysis because it only shows that he has not been to the Uk before hence his imaginary figure.

It's now I agree that Nigerians are special breeds of people. Why they keep exaggerating UK to discourage others is what I don't understand. dupyshoo: There are 3 bedroom houses for £700 - £750 where I live in greater Manchester. Loads of students there as well. |

This is interesting
This is worth it by far
I don't know why Nigerians in UK has launched a campaign to discourage ppl from coming.
Most people in Nigeria earning over 500k monthly can't save 28m in 20 years self
Imagine if the couple can save 1500 to 2000 monthly? |

How do you want to make 3k with a student visa ?
Anyway you can only work for 20hours while your wife work full time. During your schooling period you both cannot make 3k after tax and neither can your wife do a double job so the 3k is not visible.
Ok please can you put a figure to what is realistic. Assuming we are ready to work like mad, hustle with any job available. Or may be the wife should be the one on student visa to allow the highly educated husband hustle for a living. |
Travel › Re: Advice To Every UK Japa Crew by Thortp(m): 8:41pm On Jan 11, 2023 |
A family going on a student visa may experience a very rough 1st year due to the fact that only one spouse works full time as the student can only do 20 hours. 2nd year will be okay when both spouse works full time. Even the worst is both couples earn £1,500 each after tax = £3k/month. House rent PCM - £800 for 2bdrm apartment. Groceries - £300 maximum. Bills (electricity, water, gas) - £200 Internet - Home and mobile - £50 Transport - £200 Miscellaneous - £150 Balance = £1,300. That means the couple can conveniently save £1,300 every month provided it's a low job o.
Save the £1,300 for 24 months (2years) = £31,000 that is 28million naira. You can now take it to Nigeria and invest in something good for yourself. That's another income without working. Now you get it |
