Once again please find below a continuation of MY top 10/20 'dodgy' contracts as listed in the Awarded Contracts Section of the Lagos State Public Procurement Website http://www.lagosppa.gov.ng. I was going to let this one go but the cost of the website upgrade (No.12) and the cost of printer consumables (No. 13 & 16) kept bothering me. This is in the interest of Accountability and the judicious management of Public Funds and Public Trust. We should always hold our leaders accountable instead of 'hero-worshiping' them. If they step out of line we should say so!

Dont' take my word for it, go there for your self. Do you have any integrity? MugabeRobert: |
I commended LASG for the public procurement website, however note that the available documents only cover 2013/2014, 2 years of 8 of BRF, 2 years of 16 of BRF and BAT. Theres seems to be a reason why the Freedom of Information (FOI) act has not been domesticated by LASG. These examples may very well be the TIP of the ICEBERG. SaiBuharii: |
Cost of Vehicles is N1Billion Naira!!! look up the contract award at www.lagosppa.gov.ng Each unit going for N3Million More than market value at time of purchase (February 2014) Google to confirm KIA quotes N1.8Million per unit on its website. So is N3Million extra cost of 'customisation'? Acidosis: |
No. 10 - (Dredging of Channel for N4.5 Billion) This picture of the 'dredged' water channel was taken yesterday - Contract period was 12 months from March 2014 to March 2015.

No. 5 - (Construction of Waste Waster Plant at N2.6Billion) This picture of the Waste Water Construction Site Was Taken Yesterday. Contract period was 18 Months from October 2013 to April 2014.

These are mY top 10 'Dodgy' Contracts as listed in the Awarded Contracts Section of the Lagos State Public Procurement Website http://www.lagosppa.gov.ng Please peruse, do your research and make informed comments. I must commend LASG for publishing the awarded contracts online as very few if any other state government does same, however, this covers only 2 years of the BRF administration 2013/2014

Re: Is Pidgin English From Portuguese? « #11 on: May 05, 2009, 07:49 PM » Quote from: iboboyz on May 05, 2009, 03:35 PM Nigerian Pidgin is an English-based pidgin or creole language spoken as a kind of lingua franca across Nigeria that is referred to simply as "Pidgin", "Broken English" or "Brokan". Nigerian Pidgin English was greatly influenced by the Saro or Krios who infused words like "na" into Nigerian Pidgin. It is often not considered a creole language since most speakers are not native speakers, although many children do learn it early. Nonetheless it can be spoken as a pidgin, a creole, or a decreolised acrolect by different speakers, who may switch between these forms depending on the social setting. Its superstrate is English with Hausa, Yoruba and Igbo as the main substrate languages. Ihemere (2006) reports that Nigerian Pidgin is the native language of approximately 3 to 5 million people and is a second language for at least another 75 million. Variations of Pidgin are also spoken across West Africa, in countries such as Ghana, and Cameroon. Voted best answer in regards the subject. Pidgin did not originate in Nigeria as stated above. There are variations spoken in most Anglophone countries including "english speaking" cameroon that are comprehendable by most parties. Its origins are Krio which is why till date there are similarities with West indies pidgin and West African pidgin e.g "Unu" vs "Una". in response to the above, it is my understanding that unless 'iboboys' wrote the corresponding wikipedia article - 'nigerian pidgin english' the contribution was an unacknowledged quote |
