Obi won that election. Everybody knows this

Mostly Igbos and Obidients are delusional about winning an election they very well knew they could never win.

Same Obi that deluded himself that he won an election, will readily serve as running mate behind Atiku his co-loser.

He will be judged by his 1st term performance.

I certainly will not reject Tinubu only to vote for another candidate that also promised to remove fuel subsidy immediately and allow the free market floating of the Naira.

Kindly explain in less than one paragraph how today's Nigeria mirrors or possesses any semblance of a "serious economy".

You have the floor to yourself.

It is not a serious economy to have allowed the obvious flaws that sabotage it.

No single economic security is being implemented as far as I am concerned. Our banking systems and forex policies have been deliberately set up to exploit Nigeria rather than protect Nigeria.

Thankfully, you aren't anywhere close to being allowed to be a monetary policy formulator.

This your bricklayer idea wey dey your head go turn the dollar to aba made toilet paper at the speed of light.

So, say I am abroad and sending in my foreign remittance, you'd force me to turn it in so you and your cronies can loot it or else you'd make me trash it. Dey play, you here.

I'll keep my FX where I am domiciled. Come take am from my pocket or bank account.

This same archaic mentality is what the ones up there are playing ping pong with that's causing all these madness.

You think economies run on emotions, tribalism, etc?

You think serious economies allow their citizens to keep foreign currencies in local bank accounts and transfer it about within the same local economy?

Which serious national economy allow the market place selling and buying of dollars that is allowed in Nigeria?

I have lived outside Nigeria and earn money from outside of that country, and as I remitted my foreign income into my local bank account, it stayed as foreign currency until I was ready to convert it to the local currency of that country.

I was not allowed to transfer the dollar or withdraw it cash. I could set it up for the dollar to accrue overtime as an incoming foreign fund without converting to my local current account, but the only transaction I could ever perform on that foreign fund was to convert to local currency fund in my current account.

At other times, I was not even allowed the privilege of accruing the funds, as they got converted to local equivalent in my current account without me having the power to stop it.

This is a country where you cannot see or hear of forex cash trading except at the international airport.

But the thieves in power in Nigeria have allowed all manner of rubbish by themselves and the rest of Nigeria.

Like I posited earlier, just a series of government proclamations and actions, and those hoarding cash dollars will value tissue paper above it, while those stocking up in domiciliary bank accounts would have no use for it but to sell off to the bank once above a reasonable limit for those receiving foreign remittances only.

All domiciliary accounts should be shut down.

Allow the local bank accounts to have an incoming fund feature, that ensures that the only way out is to transfer into the local currency account or external fund wire. And this incoming fund feature should have both a remittance cap of $5000 above which heavy taxes will be incurred on such funds, and a holding duration beyond which the funds will be automatically localised as Naira.

The government is tolerating too much nonsense.

2027 will be easier for Peter obi bcs tinibu has already showed he is incapable of doing the job. But Peter obi winning in 2027 will be determined by the number of sane people living in Nigeria

Why will the sane people in Nigeria want to vote for a former Governor that was not prolific in anything?

I will is different from I did?

He will always be judged by what he did while operating in a live situation and not what he will do in a theoretical situation.

The sane people remember how he was assessed by the people who suffered his misgovernance, not how he was projected as a saint by those who had to vote for their tribal candidate.

How many votes is Tinubu worth?

Without governors, senators, House of Representatives members, LGA chairmen, etc., Peter Obi is worth over six million votes.

Peter Obi is the biggest political figure in Nigeria currently.

Biggest political figure that could not win a national election and will still serve beneath Atiku?

And is private citizen Tinubu more powerful than President Tinubu?

If he won 8m+ votes without the support of the government that was determined to sabotage him, will he now sabotage his own campaign when he is the incumbent President?

Dey play.

Delusions that will lead to another well deserved defeat, while boasting to prove that he won the election.

Let them keep speculating and buying.

What would piss me off is if the Tinubu regime does not have an end game that will make those buying dollars and stocking it up, shed bitter tears of regret in the near term.

Even as a layman, I know series of actions I can take that would make cash dollars start appearing in refuse dumps in Nigeria as they would have become so useless to those stocking it up outside of the banking system, while those who have them in their domiciliary accounts will be offloading them within the approved banking currency exchange the sooner they get foreign remittances only into such accounts.

This is ridiculous. Why not store the excess dollars if they have them in a central depository, with the CBN as regulator? While the banks can order their dollars if there is a shortfall in requirements. Also ensure banks report to CBN sales of dollars after a certain threshold per customer daily in banks. Anything over 10k dollars should be reported and tracked. This will prevent them from indiscriminate selling dollars to black marketers and also keep track of their es and money launderers.

I don’t agree at all with asking them to sell off all their dollar. The CBN and Nigeria even need that money.

Both the government and the people have a dollar obsession that will continue to ruin the economy.

Still feeding the monster.

Only an insane country suffering from a myriad of security challenges that include kidnapping, would allow every new car owner to be using tinted glasses and windows.

Only a government not ready to bite, would allow Nigerians to be stocking up foreign currencies in domiciliary accounts and trading foreign in every nook and crazy of the country.

A country obsessed with foreign currency and still enabled by the government.
