One thing is sure: neither Atiku nor Obi would have made that thoughtless statement, "Subsidy is gone" on their swearing in the podium

That thoughtless statement made by Tinubu, coupled with other subsequent thoughtless policy actions, is the reason we are in this mess.

This is probably the most foolish CBN Governor Nigeria ever had.

He supervised the deterioration of the Naira-Dollar exchange rate from N160 to N750 from 2014 when President Jonathan appointed him till 2023 when President Tinubu sacked him.

He even foolishly tried to become President of Nigeria while in a non-partisan role as CBN Governor.

Politics / Re: Seizure Of Presidential Jets; An International Embarrassment - Peter Obi by Throwback: 6:26pm On Aug 15
I have been loud in my demand over time that the government at all levels should be accountable to the people, meaning that they must be very transparent in all their dealings. Until a court in France prohibits Nigeria from moving or selling these three jets, Nigerians have no iota of information about both the buying and selling of these aircraft. It has been done in secrecy.

Federal Government property, which belongs to the people, is being managed as a personal family asset..Paying as much as $100m dollars for a Presidential jet for a country that is the poverty capital of the World and has more out-of-school children with over 40% food inflation is the height of concern for the people’s feelings.

Imagine this same Adaobi that domiciled public funds in his own bank to reap profit for his own private shares and invested public funds in the same Brewery that he had his own shares.

While growing poverty in Anambra, he still wasted public funds to purchase hundreds of cars for traditional rulers in Anambra State when he was Governor.

Wainey:
Or am I the only one thinking these senator earn way more than that.
Cheapest Lamborghini cost N200m and someone has up to three in his garage, that is three years worth of salary.
G-wagon cost up to N100m.
Rolls Royce cost around N600m and u have 3, which is 1.8b.

Your problem is that you're limiting the income of a Senator to only what is earned as a Senator.

Did any of them attain that political office as paupers who need to depend on public service salary and allowances?

Did Lagosians come to your village to drag you to pay heavy tax? If you were even getting enough in your village, will there be need to come to land of prosperity with a poly bag? Without coming to Lagos, how many will make it in your village where ekpa closes businesses and kill people on weekly basis as he likes? Can they get money they use to build mansions in your village where they come with gladness every year to celebrate Christmas? Always thank your host for giving you enable environment to thrive instead of being crippled economically by ekpa in your village

Who ask non lagosians to come to Lagos in the first place?

Igbos are a different breed of anomalous thinking.

Everything must always be about them. Imagine how this topic suddenly became about Igbos?

Who has asked Nnewi LGA, or Njikoka LGA, or Aba North and South LGAs not to build the same if the wealth resides in the SouthEast?

A very ungrateful set of humans will come to Lagos to make wealth and still be angry that they are taxed for the wealth they could not make in Nnewi or Aba.

This is what heavy taxes being imposed on non-Lagosians in Lagos, especially the business-minded and hard working Easterners, is giving Lagos. Look at the big structures being erected with people's sweat.

And tomorrow they'll come and say non-Lagosians should go? Not possible! non-Lagosians will seat and work in that building and become the Local government Chairman.

Did the business minded Easterners come to Lagos with money made in Anambra or Ebonyi?

Did they not come to Lagos to make money so that they can build mansion in their villages and collect high chief titles?

Learn to pay your tax with gratitude for the wealth you have made in that place.

It is not by force to come to Lagos or make money in Shomolu, if you do not want to pay taxes like everyone else.

Lagos is not Anambra.

A criminal that took one bottle of rat poison called otapiapia.

Talking about old age him and Ojukwu who first die.

If only Ojukwu lived to be as old and fit as the great sage.

Like I said, it is allowed for Igbos to tell themselves lies to feel better over the crushing defeat of Biafra that they blame on Awolowo.

Awolowo died naturally at an old age.

He did not die a vegetable like Ojukwu.

But I understand that those who adduce their civil war losses to the great sage, need to find something delusional to make them sleep better.

I like this kind of "skit" where the Nigerian government is also involved.

Since they claim it is a skit, let it continue as a full season telenovela with the final episode being where she is convicted and admitted into the prison.

Politics / Re: The Conspiracy Against Local Refining - Punch Editorial by Throwback: 8:08am On Aug 15
A significant factor is the influence of multinational oil companies and foreign governments, who benefit immensely from Nigeria’s reliance on imported refined petroleum products.

This is the bane of Nigeria's local refining and steady electric power supply problem.

An international cartel has marked Nigeria as a perpetual consumer of imported petroleum products, and it is the same reason our electricity generation has remained stagnant at 4000MW since the 2006, so we continue to consume the imported petroleum products to power our homes, offices, and industries.

Nigeria need to break free from this international conspiracy that is enabled by local unpatriotic collaborators that are both politicians and career civil servants.

Anyone who has fought gallantly for his country is entitled to all that is due to them.

How come Obasanjo who also fought for Nigeria, was President and did not settle such pending matters for these war veterans?

My MOM is Igbo and my DAD is Yoruba. To those of you calling me out to question which tribe that I belong.

See Igbo man attempting to do damage control after inadvertently revealing his is an Igbo, and even affirming "we have forgiven them but we will never forget" .

Very shameless fellow.

The veterans that killed innocent children and pregnant women in the civil war . May their needs never be met .

I read that some of this old fools still live in their family houses built sometimes around 1920's and 1930's . I thought after killing children and pregnant women in the civil war, they've automatically made it in life hmm

Na God go punish all of una and the people that enlisted you fools in that war

My mom lost her elder brother in that war. He was coming from school on that day and they forced him to join the south east soldiers to defend the Igbo land from the invasion of this old idiots begging for pension and that was the end of him, he never came back from the war.. so I was told.

About 2 million Igbo children lost their lives in the hands of this old fools .

We've forgiven them, but we will never forget.

This one has finally confessed that he is Igbo.

His people not only surrendered unconditionally, but he even went further to embrace the identity of those who forced them to surrender.

Who then is he blaming that a child was forced to fight for Biafra who attempted a secession from Nigeria that was defeated the same way Ojukwu and Ironsi defeated the NigerDelta republic of Isaac Adaka-Boro?

Anyway, God really punished Ojukwu who died less healthy than those asking for their rightful pension.

Even Obasanjo that finalised the defeat of Biafra and Ojukwu, is still fit and playing squash at over 80yrs old.

Even Nigeria has also forgiven your people, but Nigeria has not forgotten too.

Tit for Tat.

Sagay shouldn't reason like an illiterate.
The senator's salaries is indeed about 1 million Naira by law as stated by RMAFC.
The extra they get about 20m currently comes from allowance.

OBJ clarified that the senators set their own allowances not RMAFC.

I don't know why a professor will actually reason like a beer parlour political analyst.

If people would not believe RMAFC and would twist the further clarification that the Senator gave, then the mob should just be left to their ignorance so they can continue cooking up figures in their head to feed their anger.

I am still surprised at the utter lack of comprehension of Nigerians.

What exactly did Senator Sumaila Kawu say that RMAFC did not already disclose considering the actual salary versus the allowances which is not a salary?

But in his BBC Hausa interview, Kawu said, “The amount of salary received per month is less than N1 million. If there are cuts, it comes back to about N600,000. In the senate, each senator is given N21 million every month as the cost of running his office.

The Senator practically corroborated what RMAFC said, but we just want to insist that the National Assembly is like a salary windfall for whoever find themselves there.

The salary of a Senator is totally different from the allowances that is used to run the office of a Senator.

InifinteXR:

That's literally not true (a quick google search would tell you that there are at least 14 countries that doesn't collect income tax from citizens and immigrants alike)
Any country rich in natural resources shouldn't need a significant amount of tax from people if the resources are well managed, Also more tax means less purchasing power for the people irrespective of whatever infrastructure the tax is used to procure.

You are right if the small country is able to generate income from natural resources that provide for all government spending.

Nigerian natural resources income that includes oil, is not even able to provide for 10% of spending that the government need to develop the country beyond our current 3rd world status.
