[quote author=clinician2x post=125006748]I don't even know why you'll be a doctor and you're here in Nigeria protesting when you can easily go to USA or Canada. E sure me say God created a large number of brainless idiots, put them in black skin and throw them to Nigeria. If u manage to make something meaningful out of yourself, develop your brains to the point of being a doctor, pls for ur own good, leave Nigeria. Leave these idiots and go to a saner clime. [/quot I'm not sure you know the process |
kennyz247:I don't think you know the process. |

ojtech8291:Sorry about the dead. But you have a lot to know... |
ChngedChnges:Once again we are deeply sorry for the loss of a human being in that tragic manner. But then again, All what the person did I believe was to enlighten people on the right terminologies, to educate people. The people on the street may not be able to differentiate, so long as they hear the word doctor. That's why this is necessary. Its just not so appropriate using the demise of a person as an avenue. PhD is Doctor of Philosophy, known to be the highest educational qualification especially when one is in the academia as lecturers. This is different from M.D medical doctor. Only those who train or study medicine and surgery (MBBS - Bachelor of medicine, Bachelor of Surgery), and Dental Science (BDS - Bachelor Dental Science) and those with degree in Vetiniary medicine in clinical settings are regarded as doctors. An Opthalmologist is, a medical doctor who has already received his basic training as a medical doctor, and goes for a further study in eye related diseases and acquires the skills to perform surgery in the human eyes and treat other eye related diseases. He is regarded as the highest in the area of eye problems. He is the one to be sought for when eye diseases arises, of course after one must have contacted his family physician (GOPD - General doctor), who then assesses the individual and refers the person to the Opthalmologist if need be. A lawer who studies law and attends law school is regarded as Barrister, why are those who study Criminology not addressed as such? yet they also work in the court? An Architect who study Architecture and does his masters before even graduating from the university are regarded as Architect. Why are those who study Quautity survey, Building and all other related courses not regarded as Architect?, despite having interrelated courses whils in their training. So I believe the same goes with the aforementioned. These terminologies are important to differentiate so people don't get confused and seek help when they need to and it be rendered appropriately. O.D means Bachelor degree in Optometry. The Doctor of Optometry they bear as I know isn't regarded as such. An Optician is techinal skill worker who is equipped with the know how of making lens and their frames, in other words (eye glasses). And of course their are nurses that are focused only in eye condition, though still have thier basic training in general nursing care. As for the screening and all for Medical doctors from Nigeria to any other country, that's is a global practice. Nigerians who study medicine out side the country who return home to practice and get licenses, must under take the Nigerian medical exams here. And same goes to those who are relocating from Nigeria to other countries. The issue also of this isn't the case abroad, isn't completely true. The same is issue of battling for so much relevance is every where. Please, let's all be guided. |
APOPTOSIS:My condolences goes to her family. Thank you for enlightening the masses. |
