My only concern about Alvaro Fernandez is his relative lack of pace. I was surprised that he didn’t struggle too much with Nico Williams’ speed. Alvaro beats Malacia in most facets of the game apart from that question mark.

It might be wider to send him on loan for regular minutes because that is the best way to develop. He won’t get better by sitting on the bench for Shaw. Keep Malacia as the bench player and when Alvaro comes back in a season who knows he might even give Shaw a battle.

Alvaro has learned how to play the full back position properly without necessarily needing pace. I think he'll be fine though.

He's like that former Chelsea player, Alonso. He's not fast but plays the position well.

An attacking duo/trio needs it all through 90mins. Especially as the best teams in this tournament all have pacy players that press hard and fast.

True. One of the reson spain is always starting Paralluelo, to help stretch opponents defences and give the midfielders space to do their magic.

One of the reasons why i feel spain will go far in this tournament. The addition of those pacy and direct wingers to their squad during those months of strike by the other players was a blessing in disguise for them. Now they can score goals without having to pass their opponent to death and in different dimensions. Its no coincidence they became free scoring in this competition, comparred to Euros.

Not maintaining the standard is probably not their fault to be fair. It's just that the top traditional leagues have more money and are now spending them on their leagues unlike in the past when they don't care about women football (England and Spanish league especially). Those two leagues are now the most sought after in Europe for women's football.
