This description of Nigerian youths is an off-shoot of the Nigerian society (if still existing) created by the older folks (the leaders of yesterday, today and the nearest future as they have refused to pass on the baton). The older ones, the so-called leaders created the framework of what the average Nigerian youth is today. When they see their fathers, grandfathers (the leaders/politicians and other figures) live a life that negates the ideal way of life, a life of corruption, and that they created an institution of the unsmart being rewarded with a luxurious life and the intelligent being rewarded with a life of struggle to the top. As such, they do not see the need to be smart, intelligent or have the eagerness to keep improving themselves. Hence, a lot of dumb youths these days.

Sadly, it will be worse for the upcoming generations if not attended to quickly.

I think you are right. Late independence gave South Africa the infrastructures they are enjoying today, they lost their culture though. The major disadvantage if the British had stayed longer is that we are going to be totally ripped off who we are. With the huge oil money in the 70's, 80's, the British would have fixed all our basic amenities issues.. South Africa got the infrastructures but they are psychologically damaged.

It is a pity! No tribe is immune to crime, good and bad persons abound in every tribe. Saying and wishing that Igbos should rot in jail is very harsh. I was really expecting to see Nigeria top the chart. 98% of most uncompleted buildings especially those in the rural areas are used as toilets, the "bush method" is also very popular. Have you attended FoL in London? If you see crowd, your body go shock! Have you attended a match in the UK where Nigeria is playing? Have you seen the number of rccg churches in the UK? Have you wondered how everyone in Nigeria seems to have one or two friends /family members in the UK? That country is currently holding the largest chunk of all our citizens abroad.
