Any particular reason why a whopping 8y20 was used for this column?

Checking the 3D design you discover we have 900mm cantilever at that edge meeting 1500mm drop beam cantilever both front and side, there isn't a particular column at that 90° edge carrying the roof load,note as well we have lintel with cantilever at the corner window, all loads been equally shared bring in 8y20mm taken that duty with a wider mat for easy spread as the load is been transferred into the soil.
Cantilever 98% all round this building.

I think it was actually N17.4m as we refunded about N1.1m from the original N18.5m paid. This is because of roof cost difference as we couldn't get the preferred roofing brand my clients paid me for.

Welcome Sir,

The total money spent for the two buildings so far stands at about N27m. About N17.5m was spent for the construction till roofing, then from plastering, scaffolding, plumbing piping, air condition piping, ornamental designs, electrical wiring, POP ceilings, window hoods, water and other materials has taken about N9.5m since we completed the roofing. This is for both buildings.

@Timtol nice work but you did not tell here the total cost of this project and you are talking high cost of materials in PH

This building shouldn't trespass 15m for carcass but what's on ground is 16.2m which even seem impossible to complete,labour is higher than Lekki Lagos,materials and many more.

Lowest amount per day is #2,500 for labourers
As we always ensure the client buys his materials himself and even some part of workmanship for perfect transparency and we are spending much higher, only cement is fair here so far...

If the design is well noted, you will notice we have cantilever on the lintel which such design is scarce and to last long it must be cast-in-situ(R.C) and two primary purpose is to serve as shade and aesthetics,in this case increase the cost a bit on both iron,sand, granite, cement,workmanship as well.

Things are really different here than to Lagos, too expensive materials only cement seem cool,no TMT rods and many more challenge.
On this hand we will readjust some certain things for more better work.

The soil is a loose loamy soil where other buildings are seating on(2storey,1storey and bungalows respectively), taken more caution on ours in sharing all loads accurately.
