Crime / Tb Joshua Shares Sombre Message On 5th Anniversary Of Scoan Building Collapse by tinajohn: 9:35pm On Sep 12, 2019

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wAYk8iViMUs

Exactly five years after the tragic collapse of a guesthouse at The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations (SCOAN), Pastor T.B. Joshua has honoured the ‘blessed memory’ of those who died in the incident with a thought-provoking message.

On September 12th 2014, 115 people lost their lives in the horrific building collapse, 84 of them South African nationals visiting The SCOAN for religious reasons.

“A Christian does not consider death to be his end but the end of his trouble,” the cleric eulogised in a special broadcast on Emmanuel TV in commemoration of the anniversary.

Joshua stressed the inevitability of death, adding that a person’s age or the nature of their demise were not the critical issue. “What matters is the grace to continue living hereafter,” he said.

Waxing philosophical, Joshua asked viewers to be introspective as they remember the dark day.

“How are you spending your life,” he reflectively asked. “Because the greatest way to use life is to spend it on something that will outlive it – for instance, to love someone more dearly every day.”

Joshua called on his followers to proactively engage in helping others, stressing that “when you look around you”, you would assuredly find those “in need of your love, help, strength and time.”

He concluded with a sober reminder: “Live each day as if it were your last. Someday, you will be right.”

Despite the passing of five years, the controversy surrounding the cause of the deadly collapse remains, further induced by the attendant court case stuck in a seemingly endless legal quagmire.

The SCOAN still insists the church was ‘attacked’, pointing to a military plane which encircled the ill-fated building several times before its implosion.

The incident, however, has done little to quell the flow of foreign pilgrims to Joshua’s church with numbers from the Nigerian immigration service estimating six in every ten tourists to Nigeria are bound for The SCOAN.

Politics / XENOPHOBIA: A Balanced View! by tinajohn: 9:43pm On Sep 07, 2019
I have read emotion-laden accounts from ‘both sides of the divide’ regarding the toxic issue of xenophobia in South Africa. However, a poignant comment on Facebook (from a South African) seemed well to sum up my own musings regarding the unfortunate violence against foreigners and the retaliatory attacks against South African businesses in several other African nations.

“As a South African, I strongly condemn the violent actions of a few of my disgruntled, jobless countrymen which are not representative of our nation in any way, shape or form. However, what I don’t understand is the generalisation of all South Africans in this negative light because of the xenophobic antics of so few. The large majority of people in our nation are peace-loving and feel ashamed at this uncalled-for violence against foreigners in our land. Let’s reverse the roles – it is indisputable that some Nigerians are truly involved in crime such as drug-dealing in our nation but it is wrong for South Africans to paint all Nigerians black just because of the actions of the criminal few. Many Nigerians are good people and have contributed to our nation positively! I take TB Joshua as an example of this – a Nigerian who is almost unanimously admired and respected here in South Africa. My point is that no nation should judge another and put them into a particular stereotype because of the actions of the few. Let peace reign in our nations; let love reign in our continent. Africa, unite!”

I unequivocally agree with the above. We condemn the violence – but responding to violence with violence only serves to add fuel to an already riotous fire. It’s wrong for anyone to jump to stereotypical conclusions about anyone based on their country of choice. There are bad eggs in every nation and every nation has its own unique challenges. Let’s put our differences aside and embrace what unites us!

If there's anyone whose voice will be heard in addressing this issue, I believe its TB Joshua.

If you watch Emmanuel TV on his Sunday services, you see even more Southern Africans in his church than Nigerians!!!

Politics / WATCH: TB Joshua Fires Back After Controversial Testimony Of Politician!!! by tinajohn: 12:43pm On Aug 31, 2019

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TPD94TeLX68

After news was widely circulated that a Sierra Leonean government official was ‘sacked’ following her testimony at T.B. Joshua’s church, the Nigerian cleric has responded by releasing a video of the lady’s controversial testimony.

International media outlets such as CNN reported the story of Mrs Fatmata Edna Kargbo, the Chief Protocol Officer of President Julius Maada Bio, whose testimony of ‘God’s blessings in her life’ after visiting Joshua’s church in Lagos, Nigeria, sparked public concern in Sierra Leone.

Kargbo was invited for questioning by the nation’s anti-corruption agency after insinuations were rife at the speed of her apparent rise in wealth.

However, Joshua’s television channel, Emmanuel TV, released the video of Kargbo’s actual testimony, which she shared on Sunday 21st July 2019.

According to Kargbo, after visiting The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations (SCOAN) - “the house I constructed for 10 years without finishing – in exactly 14 years, I was able to complete it through the grace of God!”

This contradicts the narrative implied by most media reports that the Sierra Leonean politician amassed excessive finances within the short timeframe of her appointment as Bio’s Chief Protocol Officer in April 2018.

The clip released on Emmanuel TV also paints Kargbo as a patriotic figure who championed the cause of her nation during the deadly Ebola outbreak in the nation in 2014.

A letter from then President Dr Ernest Bai Koroma to Joshua, requesting his assistance in the nation to battle the deadly virus, is revealed, alongside a donation of $50,000 to Sierra Leone and 4,000 bottles of ‘Anointing Water’ to help curb the spread of the disease.

Kargbo reveals she personally received the gifts from Joshua – which were sent in a private jet chartered to the tune of $50,000 – and ensured they reached the affected areas, claiming that the regions where the ‘water’ reached were later declared Ebola free.

Although most media reports claimed Kargbo had been ‘sacked’ from her job, a statement from the presidential office indicated she had only been placed on leave pending the outcome of the corruption investigation.

Education / How TB Joshua’s Prayer Helped Me Gain Admission To Oxford University — Student by tinajohn: 12:06pm On Aug 20, 2019
A Nigerian student in the United Kingdom who gained admission into the prestigious Oxford University has acknowledged that the prayers of the Founder of The Synagogue Church of All Nations, T.B. Joshua, were instrumental to her academic breakthrough.

In a testimony shared on Joshua’s official Facebook Page followed by 3.5 million people, a young lady named Blessing Omorodion recounted how her mother visited the cleric’s Lagos-based Church in December 2018.

“I had recently applied to the University of Oxford to study medicine, so I asked her to pray about my application. The following Tuesday after she visited The SCOAN on Sunday, I received an email stating that I got an interview and, by the grace of God, I got an offer,” Omorodion recounted.
However, the academic requirements necessary to meet the offer were rigorous.

“I was required to get at least an A* and two As in my A-levels exams, so I knew that I would need to pray and work hard to meet these conditions,” she explained.

In the run-up to her exams, Omorodion explained that “things got really tough” but she found strength through praying along with Joshua via his television network Emmanuel TV and ministering “Morning Water” from his church.

“The encouraging words of Prophet T.B. Joshua on Emmanuel TV helped me to maintain my faith,” she testified.

According to Omorodion, she even surpassed her academic expectations in the ensuing exams.

“By the grace of God, I not only met my offer but exceeded it by getting three A*s in my Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology A levels,” she ecstatically concluded.

Her academic institution, Brampton Manor, took to Twitter to celebrate her achievement, with Oxford University’s official Twitter feed retweeting the announcement of her successful admission.

An article published in UK’s Sun Newspaper highlighted Omorodion’s remarkable achievement, revealing she only arrived in Britain aged 15 and could barely speak English at that time.

The University of Oxford, the oldest academic institution in the English-speaking world, is renowned as one of the world’s most prestigious universities and universally ranked among the best higher learning establishments worldwide.

T.B. Joshua equally sponsored a Nigerian student, Olayinka Oduwole, for a PhD in the same institutution, investing over £100,000 (N44 million) in her academic pursuits.

Oduwole has since graduated and now engages in pioneering research into 5G technology at the University of Surrey.

Religion / VIDEO: Pastor Rescues Elderly Woman From Being Burned Alive For Witchcraft!!! by tinajohn: 7:09pm On Aug 17, 2019

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=az3EcP-qvbU&

A community feud fuelled by superstition almost resulted in the gruesome murder of an elderly woman – but for the intervention of Nigerian Pastor T.B. Joshua.

A video uploaded to YouTube sensationally titled, ‘Will This Witch Be Burned Alive’ reveals how the scenario dramatically unfolded at The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations (SCOAN).

Etom Bassey, a Pastor from Assiga, Cross Rivers State cried out amidst the church service that an elderly woman has been accused of being “a witch” and labelled the malevolent cause of all her family misfortunes.

According to Bassey, another lady similarly accused of witchcraft was a victim of ‘jungle justice’ just a fortnight earlier and burned to death as a primitive punishment for her alleged diabolic actions.

With the same cruel fate awaiting Mrs Ukwo Ufia - who had been ostracised by her own children amidst the furore – the pastor insisted the family should bring their dilemma to T.B. Joshua’s church before rushing to any rash action.

“Every church and prayer home they have taken her to confirm she is a witch,” he explained, as the elderly woman looked forlornly on.

The community monarch penned a letter to Joshua, pleading for his prophetic involvement to settle the contentious issue and reveal the truth surrounding the damning allegation.

Community representatives alongside the aged woman’s direct family were all present in the church when Joshua addressed the complex case.

“What is happening to the family is an ancestral issue. Her mother was also labelled a witch and she died out of frustration,” the cleric revealed, much to the amazement of the family who corroborated his prophecy.

Joshua then declared he would “join the family”, affirming that Mrs Ufia was not a witch or the brains behind their calamities.

Kneeling to comfort the distressed woman who burst into tears upon hearing his words, Joshua called on the family to embrace forgiveness.

“It is an abomination – for someone who is not a witch to be called a witch,” he told the sombre family. “We can beg her and she will listen. What of the one in the grave?”

After the service, Joshua prayed for the entire family and gave them N500,000 as they returned to Cross River State with an emotional reconciliation.

Due to deep-rooted superstitions, it is common – especially in Southern parts of Nigeria – for elderly women and young children to be accused of witchcraft and subsequently stigmatised.

Travel / Hong Kong Citizens Visit Nigeria To See Tb Joshua Amidst Huge Protests by tinajohn: 9:17pm On Aug 15, 2019

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=riNNwxsJxX8

As the international community watches events unfold in the world city, Hong Kong, which has been gripped by large-scale government protests for over four months, Hongkongers are flocking in increasing numbers to an unlikely destination in Africa.

Known as a significant economic player in global affairs, many international economists and business people are concerned with the evolving incidents gripping Hong Kong and its effects on the world economy.

However, despite the city-wide protests, there have been an influx of Hongkongers who continue to visit Lagos, Nigeria on a bi-monthly basis.

Research reveals they are bound for an area called Ikotun-Egbe in the outskirts of Lagos, specifically to visit a mega-church called The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations (also referred to as SCOAN) headed by the prominent cleric, T.B. Joshua.

Within the last two months, a staff at Nigeria’s Murtala Mohammed Airport estimated that over 100 had flown in from Hong Kong to visit the popular church for religious tourism.

It appears they go for a myriad of reasons. On Sunday 11th August 2019, Miss Ho Tsang Ki appeared on the Christian television network ‘Emmanuel TV’ to state how she received ‘healing’ from a grave nose problem through Joshua’s prayers.

In the clip, subsequently uploaded to Emmanuel TV’s popular YouTube channel, T.B. Joshua, often referred to as ‘Prophet’, utters the following words publicly to the massive multicultural audience: “There is a woman among the Hong Kong visitors – you often bleed through your nose. You use some pills to stop this. This has been a family problem. I am telling you, it has stopped right now, as I am talking. Right now, God has healed you and it shall be permanent.”

Promptly walking out from amidst the crowd, Ki boldly stated: “I am the one who used to have nose bleeding. Man of God, please deliver me today”.

In her subsequent ‘testimony’, Miss Ki started by recalling the complex problem that saw her go all the way to Africa. “Since I was 6 years old, I had a nose problem that resulted in me having difficulty in breathing and I could not smell”, she explained.

“After a visit to hospitals, doctors inserted something into my nose and it was very painful yet there was no solution,” she continued. “But now, after the prophecy and prayer, I can breathe well and smell normally!”
Another Hong Kong woman standing beside Ki spoke introducing herself as Ki’s friend. “My friend had a severe nose problem for a very long time. She is free now and can breathe well”, Mak Wing Kwan confirmed.

Ki’s testimony, coupled with the continued visits of Hong Kong citizens to The SCOAN despite the sustained protests, show they seem to be recipients of the ‘blessings’ which thousands of religious pilgrims seek in their visit to Joshua’s church.

Indeed, according to Nigeria’s Immigration Service, of every 10 international visitors entering Nigeria, 6 are bound for The SCOAN.

“Perhaps the leaders of Hong Kong should seek God’s counsel at SCOAN at this time as its nationals are doing,” read one of the comments under Ki’s video.

T.B. Joshua is not new to advising political leaders on the quagmires they encounter in their work: late Atta Mills, Joyce Banda, George Weah, John Magafuli are some of the heads of state that are reportedly known to publicly seek advice from the cleric.

Religion / TB Joshua, SCOAN And The Rest Of Us by tinajohn: 2:35pm On Aug 13, 2019
TB Joshua, SCOAN And The Rest Of Us - Victor O

http://www.naijatipsblog.com/tb-joshua-scoan-and-the-rest-of-us/

I am not the public relations officer of Prophet T.B. Joshua neither am I the communications director of the Synagogue Church Of All Nations, SCOAN. Above all, I am neither a Yoruba, which TB Joshua is, nor a member of his church, SCOAN.

I am just a Nigerian who must speak out when it is necessary for him to do so. A Nigerian, who, out of the fear of God, must always speak out on matters of national importance, rather than hide under the facade of innocence to allow things go wrong.

That said, I want to use this opportunity to advise all those Nigerians, including some so-called men and women of God, who criticize Prophet T. B. Joshua and SCOAN unjustly and jealously, to shut up their dirty and stinking mouth and ‘face their warrant.’ NO APOLOGY, WHATSOEVER!

You may be wondering why I am talking tough or hard. I’ll tell you why.

I have been observing, listening, and reading the funny and false stories that some jealous people, especially Nigerians, peddle about the person of T. B. Joshua and his church, SCOAN, without anybody cautioning them.

Meanwhile, the same persons cannot watch and listen to other people talk bad about Pastors E.A. Adeboye, W.F Kumuyi, D. K. Odukoya, Chris Oyakhilome, David Oyedepo, among others, without them standing up to condemn or fight for their idols in their absence.

Does anybody think that T. B. Joshua’s silence on the negative things people say against him is a sign of cowardice on his part? It is not! Instead, it is a proof of his wisdom from above. Anybody who thinks otherwise, should better have a rethink or have his or her head reexamined.

I think it is high time I said something concerning the way some Nigerians speak evil about T. B. Joshua and his church, SCOAN. I am going to say it without looking at faces. This is not a matter of being disrespectful, but a matter of the understanding of the leading of the Holy Spirit.

The first time I heard about T. B. Joshua was in 1994 or 1995. Then, he was just starting out his church at the Agodo area of Egbe, near Ikotun. Then, yours sincerely was living on Thomas Animashaun Street in the Aguda area of Surulere, Lagos.

The gentleman from whose mouth I heard about T. B. Joshua for the first time, said so many unprintable things about the man. He also lied that T. B. Joshua buried so many human beings alive in his church in order to get the power he was using to perform those rare miracles, whose news are everywhere in the world.

Because of those stories, which I later discovered to be baseless, I swore never to go near T. B. Joshua, let alone attending his church. Even when some of my cousins, who were members of his church invited me to come with them to the church, I refused to accompany them there.

In 2015, something happened that forced me to attend SCOAN. By that time, Prophet T. B. Joshua had relocated his church to its present permanent site at Ikotun, near Egbe.

The younger brother of a friend of mine, who was based in Europe, visited Nigeria for an important mission, but could not return to Europe, even when he made every attempt to do so. The reason for his inability to return to Europe, he didn’t know.

After watching Emmanuel Television, owned by SCOAN, the frustrated young man decided to visit SCOAN, without anybody preaching to him or forcing him to go there. He got there and got exactly the solution he needed to solve his problem.

On the day of his testimony at SCOAN, he invited me to accompany him there, and I obliged him. I went there not because I wanted to please him, but to satisfy my curiosity of all the evil stories I’ve heard about the place.

We got to the church premises at some minutes past 4 A.M. and were directed to the Overflow Church. We waited there until some minutes past 6 A.M. when we were ushered into the main auditorium of the church.

I was afraid when I stepped my feet into the main church. I was afraid because I thought that those negative stories, which I had heard about the place might come after me. Unfortunately for those rumour-mongers, who were bent in destroying the good image of T. B. Joshua and SCOAN, that never happened.

After my friend’s younger brother had returned to his base in Europe, I decided to visit SCOAN on my own. I went there six times on my own, making it a total of seven times that I went there.

In all my visits and research about T. B. Joshua and SCOAN, I am yet to find them wanting in any of those areas that they were constantly accused of. Instead, I have been blessed for going there, more than most other righteous churches have ever blessed me with.

SCOAN is the church in Nigeria that cares about the poor and other less-privileged people more than any other church in Nigeria. Keep your proofs while I keep mine, until the time to show proofs comes.
SCOAN is the only church in Nigeria with the largest heart of advertising juicy job vacancies for everybody, including unbelievers and members of other churches to benefit from.

SCOAN is the only or the first church in Nigeria to be recognized by the United Nations, UN, in terms of providing employment and helping the poor and other less-privileged.

I was at SCOAN on the very day some UN representatives visited the church to thank T. B. Joshua and SCOAN for creating jobs and for caring for the poor and other less-privileged people of our society, without partiality.

SCOAN is the Nigerian church where miracles, signs and wonders take place more than in any other church in Nigeria.
SCOAN is the last bus-stop for Christians, from all over the world, who have gone to other churches for solution to their problems without success.

SCOAN is the only church in Nigeria where the giving of offering and paying of tithe is not sang as a song, as is done in most other churches in Nigeria. Apart from forcing people to pay tithe, some churches in Nigeria even keep registers of tithe-payers. What a joke!

SCOAN is the only church in Nigeria that you’ll attend without being ashamed of not giving offering or paying your tithe, when it is very glaring that you don’t have to give or to pay. This is because nobody would bother you or look at you as the poorest man on earth.

SCOAN is the only church in Nigeria, which does not waste its members’ offering and tithe on printing fliers, banners and billboards, yet hundreds of thousands of people, from all walks of life, find their way there to worship.

SCOAN is the church that has the highest number of worshipers from other countries of the world, every Sunday.

SCOAN is the church in Nigeria that promote the tourism policy of our government more than any other church, and yet, does not ask for payment or to be appreciated for doing so.

SCOAN is the only or the first among the few churches in Nigeria, where their pastors would say to their newcomers: “Get what you came here for and go back to your church and worship God there.” Pastors in other churches would do everything to make sure that every newcomer that comes to their church does not return to the church, where he or she came from.

SCOAN is the only or the first among the few churches in Nigeria that does not advertise or fight for members, yet its population keep increasing, day after day.

SCOAN is the most popular church in Nigeria, in the eyes of people from other nations of the world. If SCOAN is the most popular Nigerian church in the eyes of billions of people from other countries, who are the few millions of Nigerians that would think otherwise?

SCOAN is the only or the first on the list of few churches in Nigeria where pastors do not criticize pastors of other churches unjustly or jealously.

SCOAN is the only church in Nigeria where you can be for several hours without getting bored and hungry to go home. This is unlike most other churches in Nigeria, where worshipers tell their pastors when to end the service and where worshipers are free to leave the church before the end of the service, on account of boredom.

Which one will I say and which one will leave out? In spite of all these pluses in favour of SCOAN, many uninformed Nigerians still call it a place of occult and fake powers.

The most annoying part of this is that some men and women of God, whose only job in Nigeria and in other places where they have branches, is to collect offering and tithes, also have the guts to speak evil of T. B. Joshua and SCOAN; the church that change lives and change nations.

In case you’re not a man or woman of God, please, help me ask those men and women of God who run their mouths like a faulty faucet whenever T. B. Joshua and SCOAN are mentioned, what they have done for Nigeria and for humanity in general. If any, let them list them just as I have just listed those of T. B. Joshua and SCOAN above.

I am not surprised that some Nigerians can say what they say about T. B. Joshua and SCOAN because the Pharisees and other unbelievers say worse things about Jesus, the Saviour of the whole world. If they could do that to God Himself, who then, is T. B. Joshua and SCOAN?

The most annoying thing about all this is that most of the people who speak evil about T. B. Joshua and SCOAN have never stepped their feet into SCOAN nor conduct a research about T. B. Joshua and SCOAN. Why, then, do they choose to die in ignorance?

Why would a reasonable man and woman, including the educated, believe and go about saying “Dem say, dem say?” Isn’t it shameful on their own part?

Why were they sent to school? Is it not to use their brains better than those who had no opportunity of going to school? Why then, are they disgracing and advertising their ignorance?

I can never tell you what I did not see or hear. If I have not seen or heard, I’ll tell you so, instead of peddling rumours and falsehood.

So, those people speaking evil of T. B. Joshua and SCOAN should first visit SCOAN before talking rubbish or they themselves would become the rubbish that they speak.

I don’t want to get angry and start mentioning names here. But since T. B. Joshua is the only house of occult in Nigeria, how many other men and women of God, who claim to be saints or most-righteous, are sure to make heaven, with all the noise that they and their members make?

For those of us who are not ‘professional’ pastors, why do we allow some of these ‘professional’ pastors who live on us and who claim to be the best deceive us? Why? Why? Why?

I challenge anybody, including other ‘most righteous’ men and women of God who feel that T. B. Joshua is a devil to do one-fiftieth of what T. B. Joshua does. If they can do it, Nigeria and indeed, the world, would be a better place for all of us to live, because poverty and the high rate of crime would go down.

Can the whole world be wrong about T. B. Joshua and SCOAN, while only a few Nigerians are right about them? If NO, why all these sorts of destructive criticisms?

Finally, I have an advice for all those Nigerians, including some men and women of God, who talk dirty of T. B. Joshua and SCOAN: Why not remove the log in your own eyes first before attempting to remove the speck in T. B. Joshua’s eyes.

Lest I forget, why are you not ashamed of yourself? You have been talking bad about somebody for several years now and the person seems not to be bothered by what you say about him. Isn’t that enough for you keep your dirty and stinking mouth shut and ask yourself: “Is all that I have been saying about T. B Joshua and SCOAN really true?

A word, they say, is enough for the wise. Those who have ears let them hear.

Religion / OPINION: Why Does The Media Misrepresent TB Joshua? by tinajohn: 2:11pm On Aug 12, 2019
On Saturday 10th August 2019, I read a report in Zimbabwe’s Herald Newspaper alleging the Southern African nation’s Belgium-based football captain Knowledge Musona was set to undergo surgery for a nagging ankle injury that has dogged his career for several years. My attention was drawn because headlines were rife several months earlier of Musona’s public testimony in The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations (SCOAN) in which he stated this ankle injury was healed after prayer at the well-known ministry of T.B. Joshua. Skeptics and cynics understandably capitalized on the news of his ‘impending operation’ to tout their adverse assertions about ‘miracles’ and paint Joshua’s ministry in a condescending light.

Merely hours later however, a fuming Musona took to his Twitter account to debunk the story, reaffirm his good health and decry the lies being unrepentantly peddled in the media. “I am not having ankle problems and I am not having an operation on my ankle! Please get your facts right first and stop writing false articles about me," he angrily wrote to Robson Sharuko, the article’s author. However, reading between the lines, Knowledge was not the target of this flagrant falsehood – T.B. Joshua was. Musona’s story is just one of countless examples where the media have grossly misrepresented the cleric, choosing sensationalism over soundness, fiction over fact and bigotry over reality.

Last month, I saw a scandalous headline on Google News: ‘How Pastor TB Joshua Raped Me – Another Nigerian Woman Speaks’. The source was PM News, a Nigerian evening newspaper turned online outfit. A quick read revealed a clearly malicious attempt to drag Joshua’s name into the current quagmire of prominent pastors accused of sexual misconduct. The lady in question did not directly mention T.B. Joshua’s name and earlier articles suggested her sexual predator was actually a ‘prophet’ from the Celestial Church.

Merely hours later, PM News retracted their initial story and issued an apology, stating: “The reference to TB Joshua is regretted.” Shortly afterwards, the lady at the center of the scandal, Vicki Royce, tweeted: “Please media, stop accusing pastors. TB Joshua is NOT THE ONE!” She later admitted – after tales of her ‘running mad’ surfaced on social media – that she was ‘paid’ to formulate the story against the Nigerian cleric. But the ‘damage’ had been done. Casual observers glancing at headlines had already formulated ill-informed conclusions and multiple blogs had reposted the initial story with all defamatory details in place. Shortly afterwards, more Nigerian media jumped on the bandwagon to propagate wild claims of a lady named Bisola who made similarly brazen allegations – despite video evidence she previously apologized for her ‘lies’ against Joshua and admitted to mental instability.

Late in June, a work colleague sent me reports from Nigerian media – Premium Times and Sahara Reporters to be precise – that T.B. Joshua’s visit to Nazareth had been stopped due to the volume of local protests by religious figures. Despite this online furore and supposed protestations, I personally watched Joshua’s two-day revival at the Amphitheatre of Mount Precipice live on Emmanuel TV. The meetings were safe, successful and well-attended, receiving even favourable reportage in The New York Times and Reuters. The Nigerian media which trumpeted the apparent cancellation were conspicuously silent.

I equally recall the time media erroneously shouted T.B. Joshua’s name as one of those involved in the Panama Papers scandal that toppled heads of state and prominent figures worldwide. After all the ‘noise’, the exposé was itself exposed and the attendant racket simmered into insignificance. What about the horrific incident in which over 100 lives were lost during the collapse of a building at The SCOAN in September 2014? The media – especially in South Africa – quickly painted the cleric black, propagating a one-sided narrative that the structure was shoddily built and blithely ignoring the existential evidence of external interference. The case has been in court for five years and the legal quagmire drags on till date.

Examples validating this opinion literally abound - from Kenyan media linking Joshua to a gruesome murder case to Ghanaian media claiming he was ‘spiritually manipulating’ their elections to Zimbabwean media erroneously attributing to him prophetic messages he never uttered to UK media accusing him of contributing to those who died with HIV/AIDS after prayer despite no demonstrable link to the individuals involved. I once even heard that a Nigerian journalist at The National Mirror was sacked for writing a favorable report about The SCOAN, contrary to the biddings of his paymaster! But the question remains – what does the media have against the unusual enigma of T.B. Joshua? Why would they willfully engage in propagating or promoting defamatory or derogatory accounts? Why do reports presenting the positives appear so overwhelmingly underwhelming?

Despite his enormous reach and teeming supporters worldwide (records reveal he attracts sixty percent of foreign tourism to Nigeria), the truth is that Joshua still remains a mysterious, misunderstood, misrepresented figure. Even his clerical colleagues who’d you expect to rally around him amidst media attacks – including the likes of Enoch Adeboye, Matthew Ashimolowo and Paul Adefarasin – are among his fiercest detractors. Intriguingly, the cleric himself has chosen the ‘loud path’ of silence, unprovoked and unperturbed by the deluge of disparagements.

While I don’t really understand why Joshua is the subject of such media disdain, let me end by quoting a parable he once used himself in a sermon: “No matter how long a lie is sustained, the truth will someday prevail. No matter how fast a lie runs, the truth will someday overtake it.” I am personally convinced history will paint a truer picture of Joshua’s credibility and consistency, not the jaded pages of fading newspapers.

Religion / PHOTO: TB Joshua Delivers Women From Spirit Of ‘Homosexuality’ by tinajohn: 1:17pm On Jul 24, 2019
Two females have claimed within the same week to have been ‘delivered’ from a ‘spirit of woman’ after praying along with T.B. Joshua’s television station Emmanuel TV.

Mthombeni Nkhensani, a 23-year-old from South Africa, said she was plagued by “strange dreams where I would be making love with a woman”.

According to her, this began having physical repercussions. “I would masturbate and started to look on women ‘differently’. Last week, the urge became too much,” she recounted in a testimony shared on Joshua’s official Facebook Page.

“Then on Friday, I slept off whilst watching Emmanuel TV. I had a dream where Prophet T.B. Joshua gave me a prophecy. He said he was seeing me twice! He then prayed for me in the dream,” she revealed, adding that this encounter was followed by a notable change.

“Ever since then, the urge is no more,” she explained. “I have not had any dream of sleeping with my fellow women! Thank You, Jesus Christ!”

Similarly, Patricia Mensah revealed she equally received ‘deliverance’ via Joshua’s popular network.

“Just a week after my wedding, I had a dream one night and saw a woman came and sleep with me. Since that incident, I had always seen myself having sexual intercourse with a woman in my dream,” the Ghanaian vividly explained.

This had negative consequences on her education, eventually leading her to drop out early from her academic pursuits.

“I went to the class and there was this lady that I was having a strong desire to have intercourse with. I could not stop looking at her butt and admiring her. At the same time, I felt embarrassed,” she revealed, adding she would retreat into a private place and ask for ‘God’s help’.

According to Mensah’s testimony, her ‘freedom’ also came by praying along with Joshua. “One night I was sleeping with Emmanuel TV on when Prophet T.B. Joshua was conducting mass prayer. Suddenly I was hearing in my dream: ‘Be delivered, in the name of Jesus!’ ”

Patricia revealed she then saw Joshua pray for her in her dream. “He touched my forehead and I fell down. A week after that, I saw him in my dream a second time and he prayed for me again. This time, I vomited all kinds of substances in my dream,” she explained.

That signalled the change she sought. “Since that incident, I have never seen any woman, man or strange thing try to have sexual intercourse with me again in my dream! I feel so light,” she testified on Emmanuel TV’s testimony online portal.

Whilst addressing the contentious issue on a previous occasion, the Nigerian cleric made known his stand.

“God hates sin, not sinners,” he wrote on Facebook. “We should hate the act, not the people because our battle is not against flesh and blood but against the ‘spirit beings’ that cause all these acts.”

Concluding, Joshua stated: “The Bible is my standard. If my parents were one, I would not have been given birth to.”

Religion / T.B. Joshua’s Isreal Visit Described As Huge Success by tinajohn: 7:13am On Jun 30, 2019
In the last week, Israeli media has been awash with news of the controversial visit of Nigerian cleric T.B. Joshua to Nazareth.

Initial news of the visit ignited a furore among apprehensive religious leaders from both the Muslim and Orthodox Christian sector but the tone among locals has emphatically shifted in the aftermath of the successful event.

Dele Momodu, the larger-than-life owner of Ovation Magazine and erstwhile presidential candidate in Nigeria, was among the visitors in Israel to attend the much-publicised Christian event in Jesus’ hometown.

Whilst traversing the ‘Holy Land’, he sampled opinions regarding the controversial cleric and was surprised at the warm response of Israeli’s.

“Joshua-mania hits Israel… It is incredible how T.B. Joshua is wowing the people of Israel,” wrote Momodu to his 500,000 followers on Instagram, subsequently sharing short video clips of taxi drivers speaking glowingly of the cleric.

“Joshua is a good man,” a Nazarene driver named Alosh ecstatically remarked to Momodu. “He is always welcome to Israel. Everyone knows him here and we love him!”

Buttressing Momodu’s assertion, the Mayor of Nazareth, Ali Sallam, touted the economic benefit derived by Joshua’s visit in an interview with local Arabic media, stating the region of Nazareth would accrue up to $1,000,000 as a result of the influx of tourists.

A Nigerian living in Israel named Kennedy stated that Israeli reactions towards him – and his fellow Africans living in the nation – had significantly brightened after Joshua’s two-day event.

“Many of us Africans who work here in Israel are treated with suspicion and we sometimes feel marginalised,” the Tel-Aviv based electrician originally from Imo State said in a video posted online.

“But after TB Joshua’s visit, I have observed a notable difference. Many people have approached to ask me more about Nigeria; they are responding far more positively to me and black people in general,” he stated. “I can testify that T.B. Joshua’s meeting in Nazareth is rebranding Africa’s image abroad.”

Writing on Facebook, Julian H – a pilgrim from UK who attended the event – recounted the experience of how an Arabian seller at a local market gave him free fruit after learning he had attended the meeting with Joshua.

“He told me he watched the event live on a local station and was amazed that miracles can still happen today in Nazareth,” the Brit explained.

“Whether you hate this man or like him, the fact remains that T.B Joshua is Nigeria’s biggest export to the world at the moment,” penned Chukwudi Iwuchukwu, a lawyer and social media influencer, on Facebook.

“No other Nigerian – dead or alive – has the capacity to attract such global media attention except him, which makes him one of Africa’s biggest ever icons,” he bluntly wrote.

Opinion among the local Muslim community in Nazareth – which was significantly divisive before the event – has also swung heavily in the pastor’s favour in the aftermath.

“I thought Joshua was coming to try and force us to convert,” an Arabic clothes vendor named Habib stated.

“But I realise he is just a good man with a message of love for all. Also, I sold more in this last week than in the last four months combined because of the tourists he brought to our town – so he’s definitely welcome back!”

A young group of Arabic men admitted they actually attended the event to mock it. “I went with my friends for a joke. I thought they were all a bunch of actors but when I saw someone whom I personally knew receive healing, I started taking it seriously,” wrote Ahmed Dahar in Arabic on Facebook.

The two-day meeting, which has been viewed 500,000 times on Emmanuel TV’s YouTube channel since its broadcast, also received coverage from international media such as The New York Times and Reuters.

Religion / How TB Joshua's Prayers In Nazareth Saved Young Man From Murder, Suicide!!! by tinajohn: 7:33am On Jun 26, 2019
The official Facebook page of T.B. Joshua shared the touching testimony of a young man living in Switzerland who said the Pastor’s prayers during his trip to a meeting in Nazareth, the hometown of Jesus Christ, saved him from killing himself or someone else.

The testimony, titled: “Deadly Demon Defeated,” reads: The rage intensified. As did the confusion. A cruel voice whirling dangerously within. ‘Why don’t you just kill someone, so you can go to prison and be ‘safe’ in there for the rest of your life…’

Milan, a Bosnian living in Switzerland, faced a terrible predicament. Medical doctors diagnosed ADHD but Milan knew there was something far more sinister at work – an evil spirit. “I couldn’t keep any job or relationship because of this spirit,” he explained. “There was this force that followed me wherever I went. When I got angry, I would feel like I needed to kill – either to kill myself or kill someone else and spend the rest of my life in prison,” he vividly depicted.

“Mr Simikic tried his best to calm the rage within – visiting various ‘healers’ in search of spiritual help and psychiatric hospitals in search of medical help. Nothing seemed to work. “Because I was a danger to society, I was stopped from even driving my car,” he recounted. Normalcy seemed nothing more than a distant dream.

When Milan learned about the Nazareth Meeting with TB Joshua, he reached an internal resolution – “If TB Joshua can’t help me, that’s the end of my life.” Despite his initial skepticism, nothing could prepare Milan for what followed when TB Joshua prayed for him. “I fell down and physically felt as if some spirits were leaving my body through my mouth,” he explained. The curse had finally been broken! The burden was lifted at last!

“When I woke up the next morning, I felt normal for the first time in my life. The heavy, negative force disappeared,” he excitedly testified. “I want to advise anyone facing the problem I once had that the solution can only be found in Jesus Christ,” he exhorted others. Truly, a million thanks are not enough!”

Several other testimonies from the event were similarly posted, including that of an American lady who stated she had always been sceptical of faith-healing but after receiving prayer from Joshua, the Founder of The Synagogue Church of All Nations, and experiencing a miracle herself, “she is now a believer”.

The two-day event in Nazareth made headlines worldwide, attracting the attention of international media such as the New York Times and Reuters.
