I say it with boldness and confidence for the records - your husband is a wicked and selfish man. However, he's not the focus of my post. I see a lot of good advice but I think we are forgetting the angle that if you declare the passport missing and try to get a new COPR. The correspondence will still go to him and he can still suppress it. Also, the birth of your child before you land will seriously complicate your issues further. Therefore, I believe the best approach will be to get the passport from him and land. I will advise that you get someone (more like a professional) to contact him and lay the risks of his actions to him so it will scare him to release your documents. And I don't care about his side of this story. This in itself is abuse and you shouldn't preclude yourself from any action because it is too harsh for him. You and your baby are the most paramount to you and should be all you are concerned about at this time. I have further advice I want to share but will fo that personally. Please reach out to me. [quote author=grasiouso post=115129368]Please I need help. My husband seized my Visa and COPR so I’m unable to travel. I am heavy and due to travel in August with my ticket already booked. He has travelled already and he took my passport with visa and my COPR and cut off communication with me. He never even allowed me see the COPR cos he had his plans so now I’m stranded in Nigeria and need help on what to do. Please how do I go about retrieving these documents from IRCC? 13 Likes 2 Shares |

It has to be 90days before invitation. Some people have been rejected for having 1 or 2 days less than 90 days. Assessment is done against the date of invitation. GraciousWords: |

I agree with you. Suddenly the focus of this thread is on frauds and fraudsters and not improving French skills or guiding applicants. I think we should focus on ourselves and not what others are doing. Nobody on this thread has engaged anyone to carry out the exams on their behalf successfully so why do we immediately believe what is being said and use it to jeopardise our chances? There have also been rumours of IELTS fraud since 2018, however people don't focus on that and actually work to improve their chances. A fraudster will always look for a way out, and a lot of times, they get burnt in the process and can't share their experiences. I think we really should be mindful of our utterances as many people have urged. The impact on others unfair. People cannot easily pick a date and write the exams anytime soon, all because some people alleged. Please let us all delete our posts concerning the fraud and scrub the thread clean of them. Let's think of others as we are normally inclined to do in this thread. Remmrem: 2 Likes |

You can do this and change your spouse to accompanying post-PPR as explained above to Preshmoloye. Omoniyimi12345: 1 Like |

Resharing this post from this thread as evidence. This strategy was adopted by a number of people in prior threads. I just don't have the patience to look for them now. Changing the spouse to accompanying after PPR has no implication aa you already did medical and made provision for them with POF. I can't remember what happens if notification is post-AOR. I think you can contact IRCC and let them know you have changed your mind and will want your family to accompany you. Since your wife and child has already fulfilled the medical requirement, you will be asked to send in all rhe passports for PR. We have seen previous posts and it adds no complications beyond time. The thing about us is that we adjudge our fellow Nigerians guilty all the time because we are now conditioned not to trust ourselves. A Notary public should not certify a document without ascertaining the veracity of all the claims within the document as much as possible. In foreign countries ( or more specifically US), all the signatories to thedocument must appear in person before the NP. Notarising a document without any efforts to confirm its authenticity is the fraudulent act and not the other way round. godG: 11 Likes |

I smiled when I read the last paragraph of your post. You are comparing yourself- a pro-immigration, black, Nigerian graduate with at least 3 years of professional experience at a job that requires high level logical thinking to a Canadian VO who is usually a white, high school cert holder, probably racist and possibly anti-immigration. How aligned will your conclusions be? Remember they have never went through the rigours of obtaining visas to visit 90% of the countries they have visited. Hence, they are likely to be less sympathetic to the 'packaging lies' that is quite common to us here. I did not advocate lying or anything remotely close to it. I never have and I never will. However, to tell them to write an LOE detailing everything as they have told us here (which is a counsel I have seen many times) is likely 'suicidal' to their application. I still maintain that the applicant needs to do is to be methodical and logical in their presentation. It is useful to remember that we are a friendly audience while the is not. That is my view. I think we should be careful the way we advise people to explain everything clearly. The VO will understand. VOs are not is the business of go and sin no more o. They are trained to punish infractions. So while it is ok to declare, we need to be mindful how is presented. Anyone with experience on explaining everything and still getting PPR should post. Help needed for a friend. There was an error in the year of birth on her passport which she tried to change but was told she had to gobto Abuja, she dropped the idea. She was able to get US ans UK visas with the passport and has visited the countries multiple times. There is now an opportunity to correct the birth date and she wants to go ahead. However, she is scared of the implication for her application under EE, as she thinks there is a risk of being banned for misrepresentation, and also for the renewal of her American Visa. Has anyone been in this situation before? Can you please provide details how was it resolved. |

Based on your submissions below, what you provided is sufficient. I will suggest you obtain the GCMS note as Ifeoma77 has suggested. Meanwhile, you can scrutinize your application very well to ensure there was no error on your part. babybanky: 1 Like |

That is incorrect. I and many other applicants have used the birth certificates issued by local government successfully. An attestation of birth is totally not necessary. Your birth certificate is more authentic and is appropriately dated. topeolu1: 4 Likes |

Good day. Great job you are doing here. I have a dilemma in respect of my date of birth. I recently discovered that I was born 2 years after my previously "known" birth date. As would be expected, my passport carries the "incorrect" date and has beeb ussd ro obtain visas and travel to the US several times. I assume that the continued use of this passport will amount to misrepresentation. Therefore, I would like to correct this error on my international passport by getting an affidavit and a new int'l passport. Will a change in birth date due to an inadvertent error earn me a ban? NOTE: I am only trying to determine if to continue to use my passport as it is or to adopt my actual date of birth aa recently discovered. |

Alemo50: @Alemo 50. You should call all those places and inform them that you are not expecting any bills from them because you signed up for a maternity package that is all inclusive. I believe it would be resolved without you paying anything. Otherwise, if you are still in US, you can contact the hospital for resolution. I also had this problem with some small bills when I used MIHS. When I called the practice that invoiced me, they confirmed it was caused by a small error on their system, fixed it and apologized. I would advise you do the same. 2 Likes |

@prettymum. One thing that will help is if you use the visa for the purpose you declared initially.i.e. for vacation. When you come back from vacation, you can then write them about the change in birthing plan. Like Tvegas said, you have to choose your POE strategically. I will advise one of the airports in New York. People get through them 90% to 95% of the time without hassles and commit the trip to God so you don't fall under the remaining 5 to 10%. In fact the most critical factor for success will be committing to the hand of God. 1 Like |

Freshface, phema & toitoi. That clause had been on that link since Feb. 2014 ad someone said earlier. I can confirm because I saw it there before I went to Phoenix in May. The clause quoted by oawele is in the maternity agreement you will sign when you meet the financial counsellor. That is no cause for alarm. However, you might still need to monitor their website for the changes proposed in October. 1 Like |

oawele: Oawele I'm not sure this is correct o. A fellow nairalander was in the situation described above and she wasn't charged for an emergency cs. Unfortunately her post about her experience was wiped out during the attack. However, I know about it because I was there in Phoenix at the same time. Except there has been a change in policy between then and now, you shouldn't be charged for emergency CS. |

Just want to add that my worst birth experience was the most expensive birth for me and it was also in US. So it is not necessarily a function of what you paid. 2 Likes |

@Nita. I totally agree with you. We need more information to make a judgement. Its good for everyone to know what they're up against. Like you highlighted, the lady was already in California within 1 week. That on its own is a huge risk she took for which she should take personal responsibility. Mind you I'm not trying to exonorate the hospital or blame the lady. I mean I did the same while full knowledge of the risk. I remember that each time i told the medical staff I was travelling in a few days, they always looked worried and advised against it, but I did anyway, alone with 3 kids all under 5 (4, 2 and 5 days). So the lady really needs to evaluate. For me personally, I'll choose my birth experience at MIHS over the one I had in with my 1st child almost 5 years ago. This is despite the fact fact that I had tge racist nurse that must have attended to Timtim's friend attend as my day nurse (I saw other nurses attend to other Nigerians met so I knew it was her), but I had the best nurse I ever encountered probably in my whole life as my nurse on the last night. Unfortunately, we Nigerians do not have the habit of doing a review, hence, such terrible nurses will always go unpunished. 2 Likes |

Hi dserious. It is possible to fly with the baby from 2days old you just have to be mindful of the airline's policy. I can't remember which airline allows 2 days but I flew US airways and they allow from 3days old. She was about 4-5 days old. I know united allows from 1week and southwest, which would most likely have been the cheapest of all if booked early, allows from 2weeks. Delta is another option you can try. You can compare prices on the travel websites expedia, kayak, and any others you may know. |

Hi all. My apologies for my late response. I was offline. However it appears all questions addressed to me have been well answered except the one about the travel certificate. It is not really an option for some people here because you have to appear in person to apply for it. I was able to do that because I headed to Mayland after the baby's birth; so Washington was just an hour away. I think the visa offers a convenient option and if you are close to a Nigerian embassy get a passport. I just chose th travel cert I didn't want to visit the embassy multiple times. |

Hi Phema. I flew BA to USA when I was going to have my baby. Soso is right about the POE & cost of your baby's ticket. However I believe it depends on the documentation you have for the baby. Remember that if you use a Nigerian visa, nothing identifies the baby as a Nigerian citizen hence the airlines might require a return ticket for the baby. I have never heard of BA providing accomodation for a long layover. The best i have ever heard is people going through immigration to sleep in a hotel at their own costs. But really this is best clarified with the airline. NB. I used an emergency travel certificate because for sentimental reasons I didn't want a visa. |
