The explosion occurred at a mosque in Wuro-Burode near yan Gwajo part of Mini.

The blast occurred Tuesday afternoon while worshippers were holding Zuhr (Afternoon ) prayer.

The explosion was reportedly caused by a teenage boy who set off his suicide vest.

President Muhammadu Buhari has again said that herdsmen in Nigeria do not carry guns but only wield sticks and occasionally machetes.

He said this on Monday in Washington DC during the bilateral talk with U.S. President Donald Trump, noting that herdsmen crisis in the country is an age-long challenge.

“The problem of herders in Nigeria is a very long historical thing. The Nigerian herders don’t carry anything more than a stick and occasionally a matchet to cut down foliage and give it to their animals, these ones are carrying AK 47.

“So, people should not underrate what happened in Libya. 43 years of Ghaddaffi, people were recruited from Sahel and trained to shoot and kill. With the demise of Ghaddaffi they moved to other countries and region and carried the experience with them,” he said.

According to several sources, Veteran Nigerian actor/singer/dancer Pius Amolo aka Bongolipso has died.

Bongolipso died in a gas explosion in the early hours of Wednesday, 25th April, 2018.

Bongolipso was popular in the 90’s for his songs and sleek dance moves. He usually appeared in shiny clothing reminding many of late American star musician Michael Jackson.

Speaker of the Oyo House of Assembly, Honourable Michael Adeyemo, is dead.

Some members of the House of Assembly confirmed this to Channels Television, on Friday and expressed shock over the news of the death.

The cause of his death is, however, yet to be ascertained.

His body is currently being taken to the morgue.

He died in the early hours of this morning.

Imam who as served as the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Tambuwal when he was the Speaker of House Of Representative was the former Political editor of Thisday Newspaper.

The younger brother Abubakar Imam confirmed the death on phone this morning. The deceased will be buried at the Al-Nur Mosque in Abuja after Jummat prayers.

President Muhammadu Buhari will leave Nigeria for London, on Monday, April 9, to commence his annual leave, a Presidency source has confirmed.


According to the source, the President is leaving early to enable him rest before participating in the 25th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, also known as CHOGM 2018, to be held at the Buckingham Palace, St James’s Palace, and Windsor Castle.


The meeting is scheduled for April 16 – April 20. Nigeria is one of countries that make up the Commonwealth, a diverse community of 53 nations that work together to promote prosperity, democracy and peace.


Recall that President Buhari had, in 2017, spent 154 days in London undergoing medical treatment for an undisclosed ailment.


He had also spent two months in the UK receiving treatment.


President Buhari who left the country on May 7, after receiving the last batch of Chibok girls released by terrorist sect, Boko Haram, returned to the country on August 19, 2017.

I am delighted to once again welcome you to this National Executive Committee Meeting of our great party. As we usually do, I hope we will take the opportunity of this gathering to resolve outstanding issues and consolidate our plans towards making APC the strongest defender of the interests of our people.

​In particular, I think it is important for me to speak quickly on the contentious issue of the tenure of our National and State Executive Officers. As we all know, a motion was moved at the last National Executive Committee meeting of February 27, 2018, to the effect that when the tenure of the current executives expire in June this year, they should be allowed to continue for one year.

This motion was duly carried by a majority of members present at the last NEC Meeting, even though some of our party members have since spoken up very vehemently against it. Others have even taken the matter to court.

On my own part, I have taken some time to review and seek advise on the resolution. And what I found is that it contravenes both our party Constitution and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

While the APC Constitution, in Article 17(1) and 13.2(B), limits the tenure of elected officers to four years, renewable once by another election, the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria (as amended), in section 223, also prescribes periodic elections for party executives at regular intervals, which must not exceed four years.

Furthermore, Article 31 of our Party Constitution provides that any principal officer wishing to re-contest or contest for another post, must resign from his current post at least one month before the election

​In this circumstance, what is expected of us is to conduct fresh elections, once the tenure of the current executives approaches its end. A Caretaker Committee cannot remedy this situation, and cannot validly act in place of elected officers.

Furthermore, I think if we deviate from the constitutional provisions, we might be endangering the fortunes of our party. If the tenure of our party executives can be legally faulted, then it means that any nominations and primary elections that they may conduct, can also be faulted.

This is not to talk of divisions that would arise, and is already arising within the party, when some of our members feel that they are being denied the right to aspire to executive positions, or that internal democracy is not at play within the party.

I am therefore of the firm view that it is better to follow strictly the dictates of our party and national constitutions, rather than put APC and its activities at grave risk.

Fortunately, we have already approved a timetable for the holding of congresses and elections. I think these should be allowed to go forward and all efforts should now be geared towards making them a great success.

​Once again, I welcome you all to this meeting with the hope that we will promote, always, the highest interest of the party and of our people.
