The South-West governors agreed to set up the security outfit at a summit organised by the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria last year.
The summit, which was attended by the governors, traditional rulers and other stakeholders in the South-West, was convened following serial killings and kidnapping in the zone by Fulani herdsmen.

EducationOndo State Ranks High In Digital Literacy Programs In Nigeria by tizzyloaded(op): 2:56pm On Aug 12, 2019
Information and Communication Technology (ICT) services are in high demand globally. As the world embraces digital technology, it is imperative for the youth to get equipped with the needed skills to command relevance in the economy. The onus falls on the Government to provide adequate structures to facilitate the empowerment of its youth, thereby fostering development in the society.

The Akeredolu-led administration has consistently demonstrated its commitment to driving growth and development in the State by initiating schemes and programs targeted at training youths in the areas of information and communication technology.

Recently, the Ondo State’s Information Technology Agency (SITA), in collaboration with the Premier Hub Innovation Centre in Akure, organized a 5 day training at the digital village in Uso, Owo local government area of the state. The program covered electric, building and automobile training. It was organized as a follow-up program on the first successful program in the Digital Village.

The ICT project is a monthly program set up by the ondo state government to train over 90 youths across the state with a view to drastically reduce unemployment in the State.

According to the Special Assistant to the Governor on ICT and Chairman of the State Information and Technology Agency, Olumbe Akinugbe, the ICT Resource-based centres are furnished with state-of-the-art facilities and equipment across the state.

At the flagging-off ceremony of the Digital Villages Project, the South West Regional Manager of American Tower Company (ATC) Mr. Michael Ogunfowora recognized Ondo State as the first and only State in Nigeria to establish five Digital Village projects within a year, ranking high in digital literacy programs across the Country.

Another outstanding leap in strengthening ICT skills in the youths of ondo State is the collaboration between the Offfice of Innovation and Partnerships (ION), Ondo State and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), in organizing a career path programs for the unemployed youths in different enterprises across the State. And data science classes are organized for select participants, to further enhance their skills.

Also, a partnership between ION and Facebook will have the team from Facebook train young owners of small and medium sized Enterprises on the use of social media platforms and tools for practical business growth.

This dynamism by the State Government to equip youths with ICT skills has been lauded in various quarters. The ingenious approach to tackling unemployment, poverty and restlessness by facilitating ICT trainings have gone a long way in curtailing these menaces.

The ondo state governor oluwarotimi Akeredolu has urged all youth in the state to take advantage of these positive opportunities presented to them as a tool to upgrade their livelihood.

The Ore industrial Park located in Ondo State is gradually assuming the status of an industrial (Linyi) City which hosts 65 percent of the industries in China as various companies recently established at the Park have commenced operations, The Hope can reliably report.

Among the visible companies are the Cassava/Ethanol Company, Agrochemicals, Papermills, Medium Density Fiber Board, Plantation, Textile Industry and We-wood.

Speaking with our correspondent at the Park, the Business Development Manager of We-Wood, Mr. Jack Sun said that the industries are already rewriting the history of the state industrially and setting it on right footing.

He noted that about 10,000 workers have been engaged by the companies apart from contractors working on construction projects at the Park.

His words: “The state government is setting the state on the right footing industrially. Apart from the companies already operating at the Industrial Park, before the end of this year, a company that will produce milk and a motor assembly plant will spring up here.

Sun said the Motor Plant will be first of its kind in the country as various parts of automobiles would be imported to be assembled at the Park.

He said experts who will man the motor assembly are being trained, while work is ongoing on the site to be used.

According to him, the two companies when they also take off will not only contribute to the development of the state, but will also provide more job opportunities for the people.

He disclosed that the partnership between Ondo State Government and the Linyi City of Sandog in China has been cemented with the provision of security at the Ore Industrial Park and the prevailing peace in the state in general.

The Manager noted that if Ondo State has been embroiled in crisis, it would have been difficult to set up the companies.

“Apart from the state being peaceful, the security measures put in place by the state is helping investors to move into the state,” he added.

He promised that the welfare of workers in the companies would be made a priority and that their salaries would not be delayed.

PoliticsSnake Saga: Ondo Govt Replies Jumoke Akindele’s Outburst On Akeredolu by tizzyloaded(op): 6:20pm On Jul 29, 2019
The Ondo state government on Sunday said outburst of a former Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Mrs Jumoke Akindele on the state governor, Rotimi Akeredolu over the snake saga at the Assembly, doesn’t deserve any serious reply.

The state commissioner for Information and Orientation, Donald Ojogo said the former speaker was only seeking attention.

Akindele had on sunday alleged Governor Akeredolu of high handedness the way he addressed the 26 members of the House when he visited the Assembly’s complex over the invasion of snake.

In a Statement, Akindele said the governor attempted to make sure that the whole world sees the lawmakers as coward, ineffectual and mindless errand boys.

The former Speaker however appealed to Akeredolu to build another Assembly’s complex from the scratch or carry out a comprehensive renovation of the complex.

Apparently reacting to the Akindele’s attack on the governor, Ojogo in a two paragraphs Statement said, “the difference cannot be properly known or situated if every effort is granted attention.”

“Seemingly striving as they may appear, the Ondo State Government will not descend that low to legitimise every relevance-seeking effort; it will hurt more to react if such efforts come from persons (Akindele) who ordinarily, ought cover their faces in shame.”

“No one, especially those struggling to export what do not possess, can come in between the Executive and the Legislature in the State,” Ojogo opined.
