I have yet to submit, but will do so once I am able to secure the letter of good conduct. I have tried to get my hands on past questions for environmental science, all to no avail.
God help us all...

Hello Brother, please can your services be extended to environmental science? I need guidance if I am to scale through the test, and I realise it's the first obstacle I must cross.
Thank you...
BRAINNY:
For those in Managements Sciences seeking admission to UK schools and need assistance.I will write your SOP, get your admission, and prepare you for the test. BUT IT WON'T BE FREE PLS. I wrote the test three times and made it to the interview at all attempts. ***2016, Management Sciences was not included, I
chose Project Management and made it through. At the interview, I was turned down since they needed guys for Engineering Project Management. However,
I got my 10k for making it to the interview

*** 2017, passed the test. Went to the interview, I believed I made it but as we all know, the list wasn't released - the process considered inconclusive. Well, the 10k wasn't paid in full, but we got paid 8k+ about eleven months after.

**** 2018, I wrote and passed, got selected and I'm presently in the UK.

I wrote all that to assure you that I can give you the push you need. Anyone can help you get admission. But beyond admission, you need to make it through the test. I will be here to guide you and provide you with STUDY MATERIALS( I am not selling them pls). Well, I never premeditated this, but I had my student back in Nigeria asking me to guide her through. Therefore, I felt others will need my services too.

** I will be here to help you through the interview too. If I fail to deliver, kindly come and inform the house. And
when you scale both the test and interview, don't fail to come ans inform the house too. Your success is my concern. Thank you.

DMainMan, please I would appreciate it if you can discourage the use of WhatsApp groups here. I went through last year's thread and I feel like I could have gotten more information if they had all written their enquiries here on Nairaland, instead of talking all that vital info to WhatsApp or telegram.
Thank you...

I thank you for your time.
user4321:
Magoosh sounds like a good idea , if you do learn well from video instructions. But beyond getting tutorials, or paying for an online service, you need to take real simulated tests, like the Kaplan (In difficult mode), or the Manhattan Practice Test. The aim of the practice tests at first would be to extract features of yourself in timed test situations. For example you may discover that you get bogged down by the Reading comprehension passages, or that you consistently flop in 3 blank text completions (Like I did grin). After finding out the kind of mistakes you're most likely to make subconsciously, the next step would be to attack the easiest one's at first. For example, I discovered that I was in the terrible habit, of plugging in and testing answers in the text completion parts of the tests, and seeing if they sounded sweet in my ears; fortunately, Kaplan had a good antidote, "come up with your own words, first", and that way I didn't fall into my own trap again.
As for the quant, studying engineering isn't a guarantee of a high score, as the ETS puts a lot of trappings, and thorn filled nests for test takers. in my experience, the best place to hustle for marks would be the Quantitative Comparison, and the Data interpretation. The questions from these sub sections are straightforward, and heeding to sound strategies from a prep company like Magoosh can make the difference.
Overall, consistently taking timed practice test ( and being brutally honest about it) is a very good way to improve. Find a quiet corner, get Internet connection, and a laptop, and simulate for 3 hours 45 mins, at least once a week. I'm confident that you would break the 300 ceiling.

TJ0987:
Hello Guys,
I have written the Gre twice. Once in 2014 I scored 140 Q 146 V; the second time was in 2017 where I scored 150 Q 148 V. After that second score, I was so discouraged I gave up totally. However, I recently told myself "why not try again"? As long as I'm alive and healthy, why not? The most painful part was that I took the Toefl IBT exams and scored 110. It would have been perfect in combination with better Gre scores.
I'm looking to do a PhD in environmental sciences and I need a high score to attract funding. To that end, this time around, I have resolved to make use of good tutors, instead of self help as I did in those times past.
Please guys, can anyone recommend tested and trusted tutors to me (around Egbeda, Iyana Ipaja area). Emphasis on tested and trusted please.
God bless us all.
Or would you advise I pay for Magoosh premium package instead (and probably practice with it for 3 months). I really want to get it right this time.
I would appreciate your responses. Thanks guys...

OMG!!! These are the same people that interviewed me. They tore my research apart limb from limb. I walked out of the interview feeling utterly disappointed in myself, as though I hadn't done any work at all in all these months of drafting my proposal.
They insisted I didn't have to travel to the UK since my study site was in Niger Delta. When I tried to explain to them, they asked me what sense there was in taking my samples and then travelling out of the country with them. I said the equipments I required to do my work were limited (here) and that a professor had advised me to travel abroad if I wanted to enjoy this research I had proposed to carry out, they said if I went to IITA Ibadan, I would find the equipments.
I'm just glad I was given the opportunity to gather more experience interview wise. God bless us all.
Nobleman4l:
My Experience at UI Center for Environmental Group yesterday 8th of May. PhD Category.
It was not funny. My proposal was heavily critisized . They said my objectives were too much and not achievable within 3 years. They faulted my proposal for not having a research question. They were also not happy that I have not written any paper all this years. For those yet to be interviewed for environmental group, you do not have to go with any hard copy of your proposal, they will read of from their system. Also my Msc PTDF awards was not accepted as an award, they said it is just a letter of notification.Go with your Msc transcript, they requested for mine during the interview. They also asked why I wanted to carry out my research overseas and not in Nigeria. I wish all of us the best.

Got to the interview centre by 8am to meet 5 serious looking men and 1 lady at the reception. I could feel the tension in the air. Lol. I decided to break the ice by telling jokes and I successfully got everyone laughing and chatting within a little time.
By about 9.30am, the PTDF staff came to address us, and wish us the very best, after which accreditation commenced. It was already 10am by that time. We went in with our printouts, and were "clocked" in.
I was the first in environmental group to be ushered in. They asked me why I wanted the scholarship, I said because I loved research, and hopefully with the PTDF scholarship, I would be able to carry our quality research.
I was then asked to speak on my proposed research, which I did (I had crammed the sequence a night before, lol). There were 2 men and a woman on the panel. The next thing the woman asked me was why I wanted to do my research abroad since my study area and sample site was in Nigeria. I hadn't thought about that earlier. I told her because of the availability of facilities in the foreign country, of which she replied with "that's not true, we also have the facilities and equipments here in Nigeria" lol.
My award and journal were not accepted because I hadn't uploaded them when the site was active. Hard luck, because I think I read here that some people's were considered despite not having uploaded earlier.
I am more than grateful for the opportunity to have attended the interview (didn't even imagine I would be shortlisted) I really learnt a lot today. Truth is, in life you win some and lose some. So, I'm keeping an open mind. If God chooses to favour me with this scholarship, I wouldn't mind, but if not, we keep moving!!!

I wish everyone success.

EducationRe: Apply 2019/2020 PTDF Scholarship In France, Germany And UK by TJ0987(f): 6:48pm On Mar 19, 2019
I would suggest you focus all your energy on getting the scholarship first. As it is, nobody even knows if they have been shortlisted for the interview stage, since according to them(ptdf), they have not completed the shortlisting process for interviews. Why not take this time to work on yourself in advance (for the interview), and perhaps after that stage, you can start hustling for admission.

Please can I send you my proposal to take a look at? I want to tap from your fountain of knowledge. I'm TJ, I'll send you a Nairaland message shortly. I pray you respond.

Hello guys, I am one of the successful candidates for uk phd last year and I will be here from time to time to answer you Qs.
For those wondering if PTDF will secure admission for you, NO they won't, you will be responsible for securing admissions yourselves for all the overseas scholars.
Secondly, I will advice for you guys to chill and get the award 1st then worry about getting admissions later, cause I assure you, admissions won't be a problem once you have sponsorship (I got mine in 4 weeks and its a phd in univ of Manchester).
Lastly, once you have the award, you are free to change university of choice so far as the university is among the ptdf approved ones (it doesn't have to be the one applied for while submitting ptdf application), for uk scholars at least, don't know of other countries.
Good luck guys it shall all come to pass
EducationRe: Apply 2019/2020 PTDF Scholarship In France, Germany And UK by TJ0987(f): 3:58pm On Mar 12, 2019
I believe a 'C' in O level English would suffice.

Chukeg:
If you seek for admission by yourself, won't they request for English language proficiency test
EducationRe: Apply 2019/2020 PTDF Scholarship In France, Germany And UK by TJ0987(f): 1:29pm On Mar 12, 2019
Please can one just get an admission without any certain proof of funds? (since the scholarship itself isn't sure until you get it) Just as you have advised, so as to raise one's chances of getting better schools. I mean will admission be given (by the school) in good faith?
datascience:
Secure admission for yourself and submit the letter during induction. It saves you lots of stress.

If you have admission for Imperial College and PTDF were to choose Coventry University. Would you be happy with yourself?

Let the decision that PTDF will select for you be your last option. Get admissions in good UK school
