In a situation where the schools do not require( or request for) it, if I go ahead to do it, would it give me an edge, seeing that my gpa would cross the 3.00/4 line when I do it?

Also, please who has done WES recently and how much did it cost in naira (based on the recent dollar rate)? Is there any means of paying less for the service?

It depends on the school you plan to apply to. Some schools ask for WES and some schools dont.

You should research your ideas and the type of research you want to do, have them clear in your mind, and try to discuss them to the best of your ability. Nobody expects you to know all the literature and research in your field as you're just starting out. However, you do need to demonstrate that you have done your home and have some understanding of what you're talking about.

I have now done so and I realise that this question has been asked and even answered.
I am hoping to get full funding for a PhD in the US (PhD Urban Studies).

BSC 3.12/4, msc 3.5/4
GRE Q 151, V 157, AWA 3.5
Toefl (W28, S29, L29, R29 = 115)
My schools of Choice:
CUNY, sociology PhD

I am told that as a first step, I need to get in touch with faculty members who could likely supervise me, but I'm so scared of rejection, because I've gone this path before. Hopefully, a few of them agree to supervise me. I really hope luck shines on me this time around.

Congratulations on this great achievement. You have better chances in the US than Canada. I will suggest that you read through this thread from the beginning and follow the WES evaluation route to put you in a better standing for US schools. I also encourage you to study well for the GRE and make sure you do well in the GRE exam. You may also search for schools in Canada but funding are generally limited in Canada relative to the US. I encourage you to search for schools in US and Canada in google using the following format:

Masters in Petroleum Chemistry + US Universities
Masters in Petroleum Chemistry + Canada Universities.

Hello guys, my 15 year old brother attempted to root the redmi 6A I bought for him on the 9th of July last year. However, the phone went off and didn't go on again (it just keeps vibrating when you plug it in, as if to charge it).
He says after following the instructions on the YouTube video, he didn't clear the memory of the phone i.e factory reset, as was instructed in the video.
Please is there any hope for him? Or is the phone gone for good?

In a situation where your score is about 463, but when you add that of your spouse, even though they "max out" IELTS, your score goes down to 443 at best, owing to disparities in years of work experience and educational qualification, what can be done?
Can the spouse with the higher score "fly solo" and then apply for their partner to join in say 6 months following the principal applicant's relocation?
I ask this because I was told that that route might not work, as some people have had their requests (to have their spouses accompany them after they must have settled) turned down.
Guys, kindly advise me.

Toefl S=29, R=29, L=27, W=25 (110),
3 years work experience in the Federal service.
I am looking to do a PhD in Environmental Policy, I want to veer a little bit from the core sciences into the social sciences.
Unfortunately, a large portion of schools only offer the course at the masters level.
I will keep searching, I really hope I can get in for fall 2020. Getting the PhD has been a life long dream for me, but with the careful guidance of the wonderful people on this platform, I know the dream can become a reality.
