@Ajayi
i like the way you argue. Good thinking

yes, the country should go grassroot and dig up the youngsters!!!!!!!!!!!!
do you know when the responsibility of the federation stops as regards unearthing talents?
it stops as soon as they have given opprtunities for these players to showcase what they have on the global scene ( U-17 and U-20 world cups)
what else do you want the Federation to do in unearthing young players?
maybe you dont know, Nigeria have won the U-17 tourney more than most countries of the world so its never a case of not developing young talents

Do u know know where the Yemi Tella boiz are right now? do you know they are not doing well for themselves after the youth competition? personally, players need to develop themselves, get into good clubs, develop ur footballig abilities and bcome a household name in european clubs.
When our players metamorphose from youth competitions to household names in europe, be rest assured our SE will be hawt and one of the best teams. Thats the reason why the Ivoriens can match some of the european teams.

One of the reasons why our youth players tend to fade into oblivion after excelling in youth competitions is cos they are always overaged whenever they represent the country. The 1985 team u talked about must have been U-35 but competed with U-17 chaps all over the world. why wont they win the competition?

Even the Yemi Tella boiz. One of those boiz had a naming ceremony for his baby immediately after the competition and looking at the wife, she'll probably be around 27. So how come the Husband was U-17?

those are the things that i think the NFF should look into. as per unearthing talents, they might not be the best but i doubt if they are not trying their best.

You dont need a soothsayer to know we are short of talents in this country cos most of our players play in grade B clubs apart from Mikel. when u have players in the top clubs in europe, ur national teams will be a force to be reckoned with all over the world

ok
its lagerbacks fault haruna deflected the ball and the ball slipped from enyeama

its also his fault one of our players became a kung fu speacialist
Sagamite's mind is made up. . . . . .If we had won yesterday, he would still have found flaws in the match.
What he fails to understand is. . . . There's no perfect match. I could pick 200 flaws from the German team when they hammered the Aussies 4-0.

Nigeria were grossly unlucky but Kaita's indiscipline was the harbinger.
I am sure Taiye wouldn't have gotten himself crocked if he wasn't busting his gut and over-labouring himself when we were down to 10 men.
Mint!!!!!

Goals are goals like you said when Green shipped in a goal against the yankees
but how do u blame Lagerback for the deflection, the goal enyeama shipped in, the Kaitas kick, taiwos injury, Echejiles injury?

how did he get to the conclusion that Osaze woulda/shouda played as a lone striker instead of Yakubu
the Osaze i saw in 45 mins was useless;

Lagerback was on point and the team was unlucky thats all

We wasted 2 players in one position(Left Back). . . . .If we weren't so unlucky, those 2 subs woulda been TACTICAL instead of trying to replace an injured player in the LEFT BACK POSITION - A position that needed to be plugged but won't necessarily give us a GOAL.

u think its all about removing and adding players as the spirit leadeth ur shooting from distance approach?

shoot from distance? hehehehe

Play 5 in defence and 3 in midfield and 1 in offensive midfielder stroke striker. Let them shoot from distance which they are poor at.

Ignore the guy because thats not true

Olubayo Adefemi would have added a very important youth on the right back if chosen

Peter Utaka (not John Utaka) would have finished clinically that placing that Yakubu missed before Obasi failed to score in an open net.

Solomon Okoronkwo would have brought the guile and pace needed to unlock defence from the right flank. He did this skillfully at the last olympics in Beinjing.

Anichebe would have given an option from the bench which Kanu Nwankwo was too old to give.

Even our best defensive pair from the selected 23 was not even used. Go and re-watch the two goals scored by Greece yesterday and pay attention to our central defenders. Some times they are just content at watching the opponent have a shut at goal and hope that it does not go in.

Largerback simply does not know our best players nor does he know the best formation to suit them. They claimed after the interview that the reason lagerback was hired was because he knew so much about our players but unfortunately our performances and his choices of players show that claim was another media spin by NFF.
im sure u went to a tertiary institution
is anichebe better than Obasi?
or are u saying we should have taken 24 players?

who d fck is solomon okoronkow and olubayo adefemi?
would they bench the people on parade?

whats ur point? drop the ones we have and take the ones u highlighted?

if the man had dropped Obasi, peeps like you would have asked why Obasi was dropped for Anichebe (a bench warmer in everton)

Peter Utaka? grin grin grin grin

maybe u didnt know h played friendlies for Nigeria; who should have been dropped for Peter? Yakubu?

Question - Why is the national team made up of players based outside the country? Are they saying they couldn't have found home based player just as good or even better than these foreign players?
The best 23 players of Nigeria are the ones on parade

it doesnt matter where they ply their trade
If most of them play in europe, its because the home based lads are not just good enuff

Brasil has 95% of their squad playing outside the shores of the country, same goes for argentina

even the dutch have their best players outside eredevise
Its not a 9ja problem. Professional players would always want to play in good leagues and i dont think our local league is up to standard yet

1) The same way these same guys knew Amodu's selection was wrong especially proud9ja.

2) The fact of what we have seen of Obasi in the first game.

3) The fact that Obasi is a striker in Hoffenheim and we needed to defend a goal up for as long as possible and our opponents just brought an extra striker into the game.

4) The fact that Odems is our star man due to his skill, work rate, creativity and commitment on the pitch in a lot of matches. Whilst Obasi has done nothing except score against Egypt. He rarely is noticeable in a match for 90mins.
how does what u know be a determining factor as per who gets to play
and so if Odems is the most skillful

what did he do when he was on d field

You think the coach doesnt know who should play and who shouldnt

i can bet Amodu wouldnt know cos he doesnt know jack

Veron plays for Estudiantes, Parlemo also play in local league but none of our local league players were good enough for world cup and yet you don't think that is a problem. There is a saying that a river without a source dries up quickly. That is clearly what is hppening to our football. Without a vibrant local league there will never be continuity in our football

It is refreshing to know that there are people who can still think rationally.
TKB417 claims our local leagues are performing excellently and yet none of the local clubs have a player representing Nigeria in the World Cup and yet someone thinks thats good enough
The Brasilian league is one of the most respected in the world

how many players in this squad play locally in Brasil

Robinho is a Man City Player who chose to leave for home because of his probs with his coach- so dont even go there

what about the Argentines? CIV?

SportsRe: Nigeria Vs Greece: [1 - 2] On June 17, 2010 @ World Cup by tkb417(m): 10:11am On Jun 18, 2010
@tkb417,

it is the job and obligation of the footballing authority of any nation to ensure that football is run and managed to acceptable standards within that country. Especially with issues like selecting the right coaches, plans for grooming a team so that they will not just be getting to know themselves and play together a few months before a major competition. It is the job of the footballing authority in any country to ensure that youth players are spotted early enough by the right coaches with sound technical know how to manage a football team in order to groom them for future national assignments. Every  country I know in europe and south america do that but not our own. Infact we still have people like you asking questions like "is it the NFF/NFA that will manufacture an Okocha for you"? I mean if the NFF/NFA do not choose and appoint the right coaches for the job who will go out and scout for genuine Nigerian Talent who will discover the talents? Will the talents discover Themselves? Instead of doing the right thing people are busy eating bribe from all these old papa them simply because they play for clubs in europe and England just so they can wear national colours and keep playing for their clubs. Our egunje tradition has eating into our football and if you come sounding like you don't know then it is either you are in collaboration with the egunje league of traitors or you genuinely have got no clue about what is going on on or off the pitch.
You dont get it do you?
NFF are supposed to spot the right talents, coordinate football very well to acceptable standards
yeah i agree

will that make you breed another okocha? or win the world cup or not lose to Argentina

There is a dearth of talent right now and thats just my point. NFF , SE, fans are all Nigerians and we are all part of the problem

Someone was saying ex footballers should b allowed to run football in the country in order to stem the rot in the system and another ignoramus lauded the idea as the best post. I chose not to respond because , at this level, i shouldnt be engaging in a free for all banter

who are the people running the FA in England? is it Gascoigne or Lineker? or is it Paul Ince?
what about Brasil? Pele or Falcao? was Ogunjobi not an ex footballer with shooting stars?

abeg, Nigeria got independence in 1960 and it took the country many years to qualify for world cup
was it because the NFA in those years were poor? The country only won the nations cup for the first time in 1980 on home soil b4 another victory in 1994. How come, we couldnt win between 1982-1992 was it cos the NFA was bad?

at a point in time of a nation, the country will experience all these, even Cameroon is experiencing the same thing; it may be long or soon, all i know is Nigeria will be back to its best

Even our best from time immeorial has been 2 nations cup victories and a round 16 berth in world cup
make we relax abeg

@Mikeansy
You have started your illogical reasoning again

do you understand football at all? This is not finance or Politics o

There are things that can trigger a defeat in football. UTD lost to Bayern just because rafael bagged a red card; b4 that incident, the game looked like UTD were gonna score 6 goals
same thing happened yesterday, Nigeria was on the ascendancy with a goal and the tune of the game changed when kaita/calamity bagged a needless red card. We lost simply because one of the players acted daft not because the coach didnt prepare them
SAF still rues the loss to Bayern till today; It has nothin to do with the coach

as for ur NFF jibe,
ive told u, the local teams under th football admin of NFF are doing excellently in Africa. The SE are mostly foreign based and most times the Admin of football only affects them when they come together for about 3-4 weeks to prepare

Have you pondered on why countries like Switzerland, Greece, USA, Japan with the excellent football managers they possess havent been able to win the world cup or produce players like Zidane and co? How come the other countries in Africa are suffering the same fate as Nigeria on the global scene. Leave NFF out of your mediocrity, when there is a dearth of talent in a team, the resultant effect is what you saw yesterday

Cameroon are in the same position right now, before the era of zidan and zaky in Egypt, they were anonymous for a long time in Africa; Nigeria is facing a difficult patch right now and will only get over this if our youth teams produce talented players that can step into the shoes of the likes of Kanu and Okocha. as for now, we can only pray

NFF will not manufacture anothe Jay jay for u.
Jay Jay was never a product of NFA/NFF by the way
