thanks had to attend to other ventures oh and my Oga sent plenty emails that i had to attend to ol boi see as men come dey scare me well ill attend to the points before i started stakersden, i had these 2nd gueses about the challenges of going into 'tete' biz. even my mum advised me not to do it that its against our religious beliefs; uncles, friends and even govts regulations suddenly licensing grew from 500k to 15million cos they have seen people are going into that area of biz but thank God for my 5 year experience in corporate world, i did a plan with a distinct biz model and errm, the cashflow isnt bad one thing is, stakersden can finance this biz without me putting a dime in my 'pension' money nyways good points. i have my pen here and my pad and im gonna attend to all the issues raised here thanks a lot |

assetstrap: Wow i didn't envisage that time period, i reckoned a lot longer. Do u know what quality of rice u can produce on your farm compared to the imported ones? and furthermore in terms of irrigation how r u going about it. cheers 1) There are different varieties of seeds i can grow with good yields. I have some peeps in IITA that can advise on what to plant at a particular/specific ecology. 2) There are 2 planting seasons. The wet and dry season. Wet season- The rain will take care of itself while i intend to sink boreholes to ensure adequate water during the dry season The fadama projects are supposed to a fortress but mehn, nothing is going on with that programme. |

fuke: Your idea is ok but the type of land is important.
For Plantain come to Ilesha in Oshun state. The land there is naturally made for plantain
For rice it is Effon Alaye , not fr from Ilesha . It is the gateway to Ekiti state. Land here is also good for plantain.
As for land I will assist. yeah, type of land is key. Thats true not sure i have any challenges as per land The Efon Alaye land, how big is it? |

By the way, are you going this alone with only your capital involved? I can do it alone but 2 friends are on my neck asking if they can be part of it. let me tell you why they are on my neck. When i was about to start stakersden, i asked one of them to drop cash and come on board, ol boi, i practically chased this guy all over Lagos. He didnt come through and i started solo a year and half now, hes seeing the cashflow and now he believes in me na olodo |

you must have paid a fortune to acquire the land |

elowa: Your drive has alwaz inspire me. . .sure you know wat i mean Agriculture is really recession proof, thereby a good biz to venture into. But like debo said, why go with two legs into the water at inception? I ll advise you begin "semi-big" and expand gradually with profits being turned back to capital. I may have a couple of questions later before June, at least i alwaz know where to find you. Debos point is Mint! isnt 20 hectares small? in Brasil, a Big farmland is over 10,000 hectares i wonder why you guys think 20 hectares is big. Thats small oh cos at say 6Mt yield per hectare, thats 120,000 KG worth of grains. small jare Buzz me anytime lets talk |

Dis Guy: apart from the shonga farms, the SG signed a new deal with some spanish consortium Vaoslar Consortium
I would focus on export (as well) as a cover up to investement in nigerian market, the policies are great on paper, constantly changing and each government has a new bride every term- look at cassava, some people must have invested billions in it since the OBJ era, if you are not former governor you'd probably still be waiting for a miracle in terms of loans and government support True I am one of the people who wont run to a bank to start up a company. Ill prefer to approach a bank when my cashflow is healthy and i need to scale up production . Export is good if you can meet up with the standard out there. Thats where the processing Mill comes into play. If i can feed my local govt/state very well, then ill think about export The NIRSAL arrangement from CBN isnt for me at this stage. I dont want any gbese on my head |

Once you gain more experience in the biz and good profits are coming , you can at that point face it full time.

violent: Don't do it, come back to IB!
On a more serious note, i think what you've got going on is some pretty ambitious project that could either make or break you. The chances of the former far outweigh the possibilities of the latter and in my opinion, the only thing you may have to worry about is appropriate capital and skills, a management team you can rely on (not trust) and a good plan in place to protect your fields from "human" and natural pest. I wouldn't worry too much about natural pest tho, it's the "human" types that are more disturbing. Your clientele will naturally take care of itself, and if you can sufficiently produce enough at low cost, you may just establish another "dangote-ish" monopoly like market! dangote bawo hehe points noted bro, Do you have Tmonis BB pin? |
