Comrade Abdulrazaq O Hamzat and I woke up this morning to learn that the management of the National Open University of Nigeria blocked our portals over the night, like thieves. And this was done without any prior notification. We have also received calls from Congress members to that effect. We consider this to be laughable!
Quite recently, Barrister Femi Falana (SAN) published a treatise which he titled, 'CORRUPTION IS FIGHTING BACK'. You will not dispute that he was right. Whilst we embarked on this just cause for the benefit of all students some time ago, we made up our minds to face any consequences. We were overly aware that one cannot engage a Lion without sustaining a scratch or two, and we have always been ready for that. Of course, the management of National Open University of Nigeria might decide to make any decision in a desperate bid to truncate transparency, accountability and justice; whether the decision stands is another thing entirely. We find this stage of the struggle particlarly interesting.
This is the very opportunity we have always wanted, and it is now time to bring full justice to the National Open University of Nigeria.
Meanwhile, our petition to the EFCC and ICPC was submitted yesterday, detailing the endemic corruption against students of the institution. Copies will be made available to the press in the coming week, including the President, Vice President, Senate President, Minister of Education, etc.
For now, we must pay a visit to a court. This will be our new home.
