Nairaland / General / What You Should Do After The Crossover by Tobilexy: 8:28pm On Dec 31, 2016
NEW YEAR! NEW LIFE I have come to a realization that many people look forward to the New Year for a new start on old habits. As a matter of fact most religious places will have a large crowd tonight; all kinds of people will come seeking prayers to usher in the new year, afterwards they will disappear to catch fun and continue their old habits! Please... Don't let them escape just like that, touch their lives positively by giving them a life changing message. It's not just about a New Year, it's all about a "NEW LIFE".... Cheers to the end of 2016! Thanks to God Almighty, thanks to all those who made my year worthwhile! Let's Welcome 2017 a fresh opportunity for us to correct our mistakes!

Investment / Government Versus MMM Saga: A Critique by Tobilexy: 8:39am On Nov 12, 2016
Government Versus MMM saga: A Critique This is a case of sheer misplaced priorities and unabashed display of naivety. Wonder banks operate on ponzi pyramid schemes which has been in existence since time immemorial, it is not new and participants are aware of the risks before choosing to abide. I'm not an apologetic of MMM but I realized painstakingly that MMM is an online forum of common people providing help and getting help from each other. Money is transferred directly from one participant to the other. It has no central account where money can be trapped or embezzled. Hence, as far as the flow continues, it flourishes. As a matter of fact, the unsolicited discouragements from the govt. is what can actually make it crash. Profoundly, I lost my calm on this because it is apparent that MMM has put smiles on the same faces govt. made to weep, now govt. want to 'slap' those faces again. MMM has paid those unpaid salaries and has somehow restored hope in this recession period. The question now; Is it the responsibility of the govt. to go against the interest of the masses? No! The fear that people will lose their money is made spurious, it is stressed on an undergirding fact that the govt. is not enthusiastic for not receiving commissions for their self aggrandizement, this is because MMM is not in liaison with NDIC and CBN, that could propel that effect. Have you wondered, why is the govt. not worried that so many youths are losing money on sportBets? Its simple, They pay commissions! I will state emphatically that govt. should come out of this straitjacketed psyche, forget about how it failed in other countries. Get MMM regulated, let it work here and protect the interest of the majority. Alternatively leave the participants to their fate, focus on your priorities and provide good living conditions that might make people forego MMM. Religion / Re: How To Know If Your Religion Is The Fake One! by Tobilexy: 11:52pm On Oct 05, 2016
hahn:
I know what you are thinking, "my religion is the right one!"

Well, that is what the adherents of other religions also say and there are 4,199, excluding yours, of them

As you can see, the odds are not in your favour undecided

Let us also put into consideration that there 7 versions of hell, ie 7 religions who also have hell (aside from yours),

the odds are still not in your favor.

But there is hope! cheesy

This thread aims at helping you identify if your religion is wrong as to as ensure you make the right choice and not end up in the real hell wink

In no particular order, here are common signs you can use in detecting if your religion is the true one and also help you identify the true religion if you happen to come across it.

Please note that the true religion will not have any of these traits. smiley

1) Your "holy" book has lots of contradictions: Let us assume for instance that you are about to purchase a maths textbook for your kid, or for yourself, and on the first page you see "1+1=11", wouldn't this be enough to make you feel skeptical? Now, let us further imagine that you turn to the next page and the next and the next and keep seeing contradictions, would you still buy the book and even, in obvious stupidity, go around telling people that 1+1=11? undecided

If your "holy" book has these contradictions, it would be wise to throw it in the trash can. This is an obvious sign that your religion is false.

In order find out if your "holy" book fits into this category, it would be advisable that you read it on your own. Do not rely on heresay, your pastor, imam, holy junkie to read and interpret it on your behalf. Pick it up and read it for yourself angry

God will be proud of you smiley

2) You find a hard time explaining your religion to other people: Whenever someone else asks you "why" about your religious teachings you seem to find it difficult explaining it to them. No matter how hard and long you try to explain, you always seem to end up at a dead end. Most times, your religious teachings just do not make enough sense when you try explaining it to someone else.

Honestly, if your religion was from the one true "God", it wouldn't be that difficult to explain, now would it? undecided

Afterall, God is not one of confusion. smiley

3) Your religion seems to be plagiarized from other older religions: This one is a hard one to notice especially if you do not have adequate knowledge of other religions. If your religion has similar stories from other older religions then your religion is obviously fake. Afterall, God doesn't copy and paste. smiley

To verify this, you would have to read up on ancient religions and point out the similarities with yours. If there are any, your religion is false.

www.google.com is a good place to start. And it's FREE! grin

4) You are required to believe without evidence and only faith : So, you want to buy a house and the real estate manager tells you that the house is beautiful and gives you all the specs of the house but tells you that you cannot see the house but that all you have to do is believe the house is there and make payment for the house, will you pay? undecided

Now, apply this analogy to your faith. If someone tells you to believe whatever it is they are talking about without any proof, my bro/sis, na bobo. Pure scam. Do not risk eternity for such vague and unverifiable promises sad

5) You have never seen your God: Your God seems to be invincible, no one has ever seen it, or you have to carve stones and sticks just to see it then your God is nothing but a project of someone else's imagination. As beautiful and magnificent as the sun is we all see it. If your god was so real we would see it. Trust me, god would have no reason to play hide and seek.

6) Your god's characteristics contradicts itself: Your god is omnipresent but was not there when the first sin took place to prevent it. Your god is omniscient but created the devil to deceive people knowing very well they will end up in hell eventually. Your god is all loving but threatens people to love it or face eternal torture, damnation and barbecue in hell. That is not unconditional love. To know the meaning of the word unconditional, check it yourself @ www.dictionary.com. It is free. smiley

7) Your god needs to be worshiped: Even to the extent of threatening to burn you in hell if you don't. Seriously? God that created everything needs you, a human who happens to be infinitesimal in the grand scheme of the universe, just to feel funky? undecided If your god is truly great, it wouldn't need to servitude and slavery. These are human cravings, not that of a supreme being. sad

cool Your god supports slavery, discrimination and genocide: Just look into your holy book. If there are pages where these things are supported then your god is actually a psychopath and if you eventually see it, take it to a psychiatric hospital angry

9) No one has ever seen the hell or heaven of your religion: This one is kinda tricky because every religion that has hell and heaven also have adherents who have "died" and seen these places. Christians have died and seen Jesus and Jehovah so have Muslims who have died and see Allah and their future 72 virgin wives wink , Buddhists too etc.

Even you can deduce that there is something fishy here. Did they really see heaven or hell or just projections of their imaginations or are they just plain old lying? lipsrsealed

10) There is no where in your holy book where your god refers itself as the god of your people: God of the Ibos? God of the Yorubas? God of the hausas? God of Africans? Have you ever heard your god refer to itself as the god of your people?

I doubt that. It is either it is god of israel or god of arabs of god of indians etc.

If your god is like this then be certain it is not a true god because a true god will not be tribalistic or take sides. After all, it did create everyone, didn't it? undecided

11) You do not know anyone personally that has been healed miraculously by your god: And neither have you. All the "testimonies" are always in church, mosque, radio, tv, blogs, websites but never to you or people around you. You know a crippled in your area but no pastor or imam has ever been able to heal that person just out of the goodness of their heart. Very suspicious I say undecided

12) Your god always needs money: Your pastor says you need money to build a house for god(as if spirits need to live in houses undecided ) or that it needs money before healing you or providing any of it's other services like granting you a job, giving you a wife/husband, kids etc. It sha needs tithes and offering EVERY TIME. I mean how hard can it be for god to make money? Didn't it create everything?

A side effect of this is that the pastors, imams and spiritual junkies who collect these tithes on behalf of your god always seem to wear the finest clothes, ride the best cars, send their kids to the best schools(which 80% of the congregatio n cannot afford) and enjoy all the canal things of earth while you wait for paradise in heaven. Nigu undecided

I will stop here for now. But these tips should be enough to guide you and help you avoid following the wrong religion, finding the right one and not ending up in hell. smiley

Source: Na me write am. You dey find your own? undecided tongue

You don't need religion to know # God exists. Just look
around you, u'll feel and appreciate a higher class of #art .
Behold, every art is the work of an # Artist. One thing is
certain, All our religions are merely # extensions of other
nations cultures, myths and histories. # Christianity: An
extension of the # Jewish tradition while # Islam: an extension
of the # Arab tradition etc. We are forced to act in defence
and stay in allegiance to our religious colonial masters no
matter their wrong or right doing [Israel, Palestines and the
middle east conflict], # dress like them, # talk like them, and
sometimes even # think we are them. But last time I checked,
a #Dog can never be the master to man. We are just in slave
ships, killing and murdering our selves, trying so hard to fit
into the plan. No matter what we do, we are going to remain
# Africans while they remain # Arabs and # Jews

Politics / Against All Odds @9ja:the Hope Of An Incurable Optimist by Tobilexy: 10:40pm On Oct 05, 2016
Having decided to break out from the cage of taciturnity over a long time from this Social atmosphere, I'm propelled to Write that apparently, our hopes as Nigerians soon evaporated into the thin air of oblivion. the change mantra seem like a mere say to me, enshrouded with theoretical postulations clamouring change!!! vociferously rather than considering a pragmatic approach to salvaging us from this economic recess which has reduced us into abject impecuniosity. Ben Bruce was right when he says: " if we reduce our salary as politicians, reduce convoys, stop importing rice and funding pilgrimages, we wont need to sell national assets" but how many politicians are wiling to have their salaries reduced and restrain extravagancy? the pietiable state of her economy is visible to the blind and audible to the deaf. we have no choice but to live in hope and promises, for i am emboldened of the fact that Nigeria will sumount, against all odds. That moment you have an idea and thoughts reverberating through your mind but cannot think of a satisfactory word for it and organizing the idea in an unequivocal manner, then it is assumed that one has been mentally enslaved (I stand to be corrected). Hmm! The English language was imposed by the British to keep one under subjugation and mental slavery, causing one to see the British lifestyle and system of education as superior to our native culture. It as tamed the mind from thinking afar, one is restricted to think within a limited confines. Obviously, I always seem dazed when I see large volume of books written by the westerners and there mastery of English and how they are so grounded in their writing skills, I admire such dexterity and wish to posses such prowess, then a friend responded by saying “it is their language, we borrowed their language and we began to undermine ours”. Common sense demands we grasp all aspect of life and embrace our native language. Practically, if English language is taught with native language it is easily understood rather taught directly. The language as become a prerequisite to make head way, parents even compel their wards by preventing them to speak vernacular, making the language appear unsatisfactory. Make a single grammatical error and then you will be seen as unlettered and attracting jest, this as been a tradition right from my college days. Our former first lady has really contributed immensely to our “home grown lexicon”, and has been severally impugned for her so called lack of command in English language, I will remain partial to her because , like most of us, English is not her first language, however be reminded that after your familiarity with the English language in Africa here you will still need to take a proficiency test like the GRE, TOEFL, for further studies abroad, and when you arrive there your English eloquence and articulacy still deems incomparable to theirs, hence that is a ‘strangers detector’, what impression does that give to you? As I still leave you to think, the western lifestyle as virtually permeated almost every aspect of our lives even to our mode of dressing, when you wear a suit, it is assumed you are corporate, portraying a civilized and educated person, hence you might be a point of focus if you decide to wear a local attire to an interview, or presenting an academic seminar. I am still trying to figure out how the usage of tie and suit will influence my intellectual prowess and how wearing local attire will deter me from thinking right.
Taking cognizance of the fact that we had an organized religious system known as the African religion, the Europeans, western sociologist and anthropologist gave disparaging view about our idea of God and moral system. on the other hand religion was used as tool by the Europeans to exploit the masses, if you are well versed with Karl Marxist theory, who view religion as the “Opium of the Masses” whereby if there is a gap of failure by the rulers whom the masses look up to for daily needs, they then decide to seek solace in religion when they have been disappointed. More so, it was used as an agent of de-politicization i.e. keeping people from seeing their lives and societal condition in political terms. Hence, religion often drugged the masses into submission by offering a consolation for their harsh lives on earth and hope for salvation in an ideal after life. Similarly, Christianity was introduced by the slave masters of the Native Americans and Europeans. Obedience to God was preached, mans obedience was also embedded in order to seek eternal life and salvation. Thus, it was a tool to instinct fear and helped them to perpetuate their patterns of social inequality. That view indeed stems from a sociological perspective as the idea is to see religion from a societal terrain thereby using a reductionist method. Thank God for the salvation of our souls as we are affiliated with various religions. Be that as it may, religion has been arm-twisted, and used as a tool for exploitation in time past and in contemporaneous by both secular and religious leaders who hide under the cloaks of religion to extort and exploit acolytes. Thus, the smokescreen must be cleared. In order to avoid expounding religion vulnerability as it is sensitive and volatile where by it as been turned into two edged sword i.e. cohesion and division as a result of mans failure of understanding it which as occasioned various crises we contend with today, causing a menace to our societal development, will be a topic for another day. By and large, we are still subjected to the European way of life, as we continue to adhere to the rules of concord and lexicon, we’ve decided to syncretize by bringing in our culture to the foreign religions as a means of survival, that is why we have indigenous churches. Some will hold the view that the Europeans brought civilization to us, were we not civilized before their coming? I so much admire the Chinese, for their resurgence, despite their civilization, their culture and language wasn’t eroded. No doubt, The Foreign languages as helped us to an extent in expression, and has also been one of the universal language like French, Arabic. It will suffice to embrace our own language, religion (African religion) and culture as it’s birthed with intrinsic values.

Politics / Ostensibly, her independence celebration is still pendent see why by Tobilexy: 8:29am On Oct 01, 2016

OUR INDEPENDENCE CELEBRATION IS PENDENT

I woke up this morning with an inordinate anguish not for being a Nigerian but for some reasons in Nigeria. Ok, its "Independence day" and a question was quick to enrapture my mind, Are we truly celebrating or we are "fooling" ourselves? I am an incurabe optimist who always deviate from harebrained assertions that tend to devalorize our Nation. However, I am spilling my social media ink today to express the plight of many Nigerians who have the zeal and willingness to celebrate today as supposed but cannot do so due to paucity of funds and intensed hunger. Apparently, this lends credence to my claim that our independence is still pendent.

You will agree with me that our independence celebration depends on the food on our tables, money in our purses and smiles on our faces. Ostensibly, our independence celebration is pendent because myriads of our future leaders would rather troop in large numbers to Football betting shops today than to be at the Stadium parading in Green and white as the case should be. Consequently, galvanizing their intellectual prowess towards frivolities.

Regrettably, our nation is swimming in the pool of autarky, tepid citizenry and harping on political monstrosity, nevertheless we won't lose hope. I won't say God bless Nigeria because He has already done so, allow me to simply put, God "bliss" Nigeria.
