Religion / Is God On Social Media? by Tobilexy: 4:27pm On Jun 05, 2016
recent times I’ve been ruminating on the Omni-Presence attribute of the Supreme Being which connotes that God is everywhere and sees everything in the human realm of affairs. The bone of contention now is that, Is God also present in the abstract realm of social media? In other words, can we assume that God monitors our posts and comments? This thought was prompted by the incessant posts I’ve seen circulating which appears equivocal to me. It is highly myopic to put up a piece that is mostly sympathetic thereby compelling readers to comment, type amen or click Like button, as if that is not enough, some will go further to attach threats and curses that are religiously provoking. Well, this affirms my popular acclamation that Nigerians are notoriously religious. As a matter of fact, they have anthropomorphized God to an extent of repugnance. Let me quickly address these social media cankerworms, enough is enough! Come out of your strait-jacketed psyche. God only sees our hearts and is not necessarily on social media. Excuse me! God cannot send you a message on whatsapp or facebook and threaten evil if you do not share. Religious messages as far as I’m concerned are meant to be healthy and objective not scary and compelling. It is demeaning to tie our faith to an ordinary write-up probably composed by a charlatan whose aim is lost in oblivion. I will point the blame finger to the extremely gullible adherents, who exhibit their fears and shallow mindsets on social media. God is Transcendent and Benevolent, He will; never threaten just to make you obey. He will not ask you to type Amen just to become a billionaire. Hence, to the message broadcasting community on social media, we need inspirational messages not “the conversation between Devil and God” That is sheer religious quagmire! Please try other means of generating traffics for your egocentric profits because God’s Identity is a mystery using it carelessly is a blunder. Please let’s wise up and turn a new leaf. Religion / Re: Post Your 'Front Page-Worthy' TOPICS And LINKS Here by Tobilexy: 9:08am On Jan 24, 2016
[quote author=emusmith post=32618590]Hello Friends,

With so many threads created here; some "Front Page Worthy" and others "NOT Front Page Worthy", we would love to really have a more organized and impactful section that will make Front Page more often than it has been.

For example:

TOPIC: Sex Destroyed Me; Took Away My Luck. I Need Help

LINK: https://www.nairaland.com/2248983/sex-destroyed-me-took-away

After taking this step, don't bother reminding myself and other moderators/supermods to move it to Front page because if it is Front Page Worthy, it will surely make Frontpage in the Appropriate Time.

Consider this thread a clarion call to sanitizing the Religious Section. In the bid to doing so, the following information needs to be well understood:

1. Do not discriminate any belief you know little or nothing about. If you must contribute, do that with courtesy, respect and maturity.

2. Religion lay emphasis on a Higher Being, be it Christianity, Islam, Buddhaism etc and I believe they all promote good living, kindness, love and respect. Through your help, we'll ensure(the best way we can) all these virtues are being restored to this section.

3. Before creating or quoting any thread, remember the rules of Nairaland. They will be enforced on anyone who breaks them

NB: Only Religious Threads Are Allowed Here!

Questions and Complaints will also be taken.

op religion has not failed man, rather it is man that has failed by turning religion in to a two edged sword I.e cohesion and division. religion has been and will continue to be the bedrock of morality and a source for peace, if only we are unfanatical and take it with leniency. we started off with religion (birth), we live with religion (life). and we end with religion (death).

Lots of Christians have their biometric/DNA stored by the government and yet they claim they will never get 666. Too bad,if you have a phone, international passport, you already have mark 666

In the UK if you don't have a National Insurance number you cannot get a job, well unless you are an illegal immigrant, which of course you can't wait to get yourself one.

Religion / 666 VS BVN: Another Clash Between Science And Religion by Tobilexy: 12:43pm On Nov 01, 2015
666 Versus BVN (Bank Verification Number) One cannot defiantly flout the recent correlation that is being drawn between the Nigerian Banking system and eschatological mark of the Beast 666. The Central Bank of Nigeria’s directives that every account holder should get a bank verification number is surprisingly raising an alarm to some socio-religious commentators who are chirping their opinions that it might in some ways be connected to the biblical mark of the Beast. With much interest, I quickly harvested their points even though I could not credit it logically. Retracing my similar research on Obama’s RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) saga, I could not but murmur the statement “these people have started again” Little wonder Nigerians are regarded as notoriously and vigorously religious. BVN according to CBN is a technical advancement that will enable effective banking and monitoring, due to the biometrical database, how this has got to do with 666 is what has left me in the pool of skepticism. One should be slow in crucifying the spurious speculators because they have a point by claiming it is connected to one’s account and ability to buy and sell, just as it is enshrined in the bible as in the case of 666. However it is should be reiterated that the BVN number is not to be emblazoned on anybody’s forehead or hand, neither is it forced by any dictator. The logicality that it is a sign of end times is also equivocal, although it is agreeable that BVN is a delicate sinister tool for any dictatorship ruler, envisaged as the anti-Christ, who can easily manipulate total control through this medium. Caution should be exercised not to tag the CBN governor Mr. Godwin Emefiele as the Anti-Christ because he is not even close to the clues of Revelation 13, whereas Obama’s case still lingers in mind. It should be noted that the Anti-Christ will be a world ruler not an appointed terminal leader. Taking cognizance of the symbiotic nexus between science and religion, i.e fact and faith, I have philosophically noted that it is amazing that Faith proves facts either right or wrong. What am I saying? Take for example, it is factual that one’s mobile phone can call someone far away when a dial is made, but it takes faith to believe that the number will go through without network hindrance, however you must follow the dial procedure. If the number goes through, faith has proven fact right, if it doesn’t faith has proven the fact wrong. Take note that faith doesn’t mean one should shake the phone and expect a call to be made, but rather to make a dial in order to make a call. In other words, faith should be channeled in line with facts, whatever the outcome may be. In the same manner, Eschatological faith should be channeled in line with the religious facts contained in the book of Revelations and not mere myopic reasoning. Well, as the case stands, a stage has been set for another clash between science and religion, Perhaps your personal philosophy should be the referee here. Dr. Zak (The Incurable Optimist)

Education / Re: Hnd/b.sc Holders Discrimination: Irrelevant, Dangerious & Unconstitutional. by Tobilexy: 8:46pm On Jul 05, 2015
Jakara:
Federal Government should please end this certificate discrimination between HND & B.Sc. holders in Federal Ministry of Interior (Prisons, Immigration, Civil Defence) and others in order to increase their productivity. My brother the curriculum is different, moreover how many professors teach in poly few or no professors at all

This discrimination is irrelevant, dangerious, unethical and unconstitutional.

There is a looming bloody clash between these two cadres at fields of operation due to live arms/ammunition they bear and that is why every well meaning Nigerian should help towards scrapping out this because you/ your family will become victim directly/indirectly & never ask God why because you caused it by not publishing or broadcasting this message.

Few of the discriminations witnessed in Min. of Interior are;
? HND (Inspectorate Cadre), while B.Sc. (Superintendent Cadre).
? Entry Level for HND is G/L 7, while a fellow Graduate with B.Sc. is G/L 8.
? HND G/L 7 earns (#70,000 pm), while B.Sc. G/L 8 earns (#120,000 pm).
? Terminal Point for HND is G/L 13, while B.Sc. is to the highest G/L.
? HND/ inspectorate cadre ranks are confusing, while superintendent
ranks are normal ranks/recognized ranks in military/paramilitary
agencies.
? B.Sc Holder hardly pay complement to his superior officer with HND certificate.
? HND graduates are denied one Grade Level during rank conversation.
? Above all, HND holder in this Ministry of Interior are regarded and treated as artisans with WASC or Trade Test qualifications.

It is shameful that staff of Ministry of Interior and others as affected no longer concentrate on their duties or bring ideas that could help the job, rather they focuse on getting more certificates by hook or by crook in order to be converted to superintendent cadre.

It is obvious that other well recognised security agencies like; Nigeria Military, DSS, Nigerian Police, etc do not discriminate
in ranking between HND & B.Sc. Holders.

Federal Government should merge Ministry of Interior with Police to stop this nonsense if they persists in this evil act called discrimination.
Fashion / 7 Right Spots To Spray Your Perfume by Tobilexy: 2:22pm On Jun 27, 2015
When you have a much-loved scent, you’d like to (subtly) share it with the world. This means spraying or dabbing on spots that are designed to warm and gently project from your body. The best places to apply perfume are your pulse points. These areas of your body are known to have a collection of veins and arteries, which can easily become warm, releasing scent as you go about your day.
The top pulse points to apply your fragrance include:
-The areas just above your hipbones
-The back of your legs, just behind your knees
-Inside your elbows
-The nape of your neck
-The small of your back
-Your cleavage
-Your wrists
Areas that aren’t so effective include applying anywhere on your clothing. Not only can this stain your clothes, it may not release the same scent you enjoy on your skin itself. While it’s also tempting to spray perfume onto your hair, only use those that are specifically designated for hair. Otherwise, you may dry out your tresses!
While fragrances are intended to last, it’s always possible they may not take you from day to night.

Religion / CONFIRMED: Biblical Queen Sheba Died And Buried In Nigeria (PHOTOS) by Tobilexy: 10:42pm On Jun 26, 2015
Saw this and decided to share. Did you know that a site, hidden away in the dense rain forests of south-western Nigeria is believed to be the burial ground of the biblical Queen of Sheba. This burial site is itself located within a large area which is surrounded by the ancient Eredo earthwork and is believed to be the wealthy Queen Sheba’s Lost Kingdom.
The small, sleepy village of Oke-Eiri, located on the outskirts of Ijebu Ode, in Ogun State, hosts this burial site of the ancient Queen, and has been the destination of local pilgrims for centuries who come to pay homage to the sleeping legend.
The Christian Bible described the queen as a women of immense power, intellect and wisdom, who came to visitKing Solomon when she heard of his outstanding wisdom. It was recorded that she came with “a very great caravan of camels, carrying spices, large quantities of gold and precious stones”. It was also stated that “never again where so many spices brought into Israel as those the Queen of Sheba gave to King Solomon”. In Islamic tradition, she is commonly referred to, as Bilkis, Bilqis, Balqis or Balquis by the Arabs, who believe that she came from the city of Sheba, also called Mareb, in Yemen. Historical and archeological studies revealed that there are many links between the Biblical queen and Bilikisu Sungbo of Ijebu land. The Queen of Sheba is said to be associated with ivory, eunuchs and gold. Ivory and gold are known to be very abundant in Nigeria at the time, while eunuchs were present in ancient West African palaces.

Religion / Must Read!!(karmic Vibration)why We Reap What We Sow by Tobilexy: 9:37pm On Jun 26, 2015
KARMIC VIBRATION

It is said that life is not a bed of rose and the ups and downs of life makes the world go round. But worthy of note is the fact that the ups and downs of life that set our world in motion is a product of deeds and consequential effects of our actions. This is what is called Karma.

Karma is the sum total of the ethical consequences of a person’s good or bad actions comprising of thoughts, words and deeds. It is the law that states that every action has it consequences.

Karma is a natural law in itself and it has no divine backing. It is comparable to the law of gravity i.e what goes up must come down. Who we are today is a product of our previous karma and who we will be in the nearest future is dependent on our Karma.

Our karma forms a nexus of reverberations that re-echoes itself consequent up on time and it weight. These vibrations has the capacity to alter future events and it strikes some eternal chords. This is the more reason why every religion of the world place emphasis on good conduct as a catalyst to good beyond.

To this end, it is essential to establish that every man is the architect of his own destiny. Life won’t give us what we desire but it is what we sow into life that we will reap.

Charging 3000 to check name in book of life

A rhetorical question remains that when will religion escape being a tool of exploitation, extortion and fraudulence? Perhaps, a fast answer is close to impossibility as far as “Faith” remains the epicentre of religion.
Be that as it may, It is very unwholesome that some unscrupulous individuals especially in our contemporary milieu have decided to change the act of religious ministration to business ventures. One is correct to say that Pastor-ship is now equivalent to “Pastorpreneurship” so also in Islam Alfa-ship to “Alfapreneurship” (money-driven ministrations).
With the famous statement of “Sow a seed” they have victimized innumerable gullible and docile adherents. They have clothed religion with myriad discrepancies evident of corrupt practices and self aggrandizements. Instead of being shepherds, they are profound wolves who lack the fear of God. They receive emoluments of all kinds either deceitfully or diabolically.
Definitely, Nemesis will catch up with them because they will get to their threshold of Karmic vibration (as described by Adekeye Levi) But before then, I beseech all religious adherents, come out of your “straitjacketed psyche” seek knowledge of your faith and stop falling victim. Being religiously bamboozled is ridiculous and it depicts lack of wisdom.
Say no to Religiopreneurship, religion should remain the bedrock of morality.

Religion / The Problem Of Evil by Tobilexy: 8:56pm On Jun 26, 2015
THE PROBLEM OF EVIL by zaccheausgbengaayobami
“Did God create everything that exists?” A student bravely replied, “Yes, He did!” “God created everything?” The professor asked. “Yes sir”, the student replied. The professor answered, “If God created everything, then God created evil since evil exists, and according to the principal that our works define who we are then God is evil”. The student became quiet before such an answer. The professor was quite pleased with him self and boasted to the students that he had proven once more that the Christian faith was a myth.
Another student raised his hand and said, “Can I ask you a question professor?” “Of course”, replied the professor. The student stood up and asked, “Professor does cold exist?” “What kind of question is this? Of course it exists. Have you never been cold?” The students snickered at the young man’s question. The young man replied, “In fact sir, cold does not exist. According to the laws of physics, what we consider cold is in reality the absence of heat. Every body or object is susceptible to study when it has or transmits energy, and heat is
what makes a body or matter have or transmit energy. Absolute zero (-460 degrees F) is the total absence of heat; all matter becomes inert and incapable of reaction at that temperature. Cold does not exist. We have created this word to describe how we feel if we have no heat.”
The student continued, “Professor, does darkness exist?” The professor responded, “Of course it does.” The student replied, “Once again you are wrong sir, darkness does not exist either. Darkness is in reality the absence of light. Light we can study, but not darkness. In fact, we can use Newton’s prism to break white light into colors to study the various wavelengths of each color. You can not measure darkness. A simple ray of light can break into a world of darkness and illuminate it. How can you know how dark a certain space is? You measure the amount of light present. Isn’t this correct? Darkness is a term used by man to describe what happens when there is no light present.”
Finally the young man asked the professor, “Sir, does evil exist?” Now uncertain, the professor responded, “Of course as I have already said. We see it every day. It is in the daily example of man’s inhumanity to man. It is in the multitude of crime and violence everywhere in the world. These manifestations are nothing else but evil.”
To this the student replied, “Evil does not exist sir, or at least it does not exist unto itself. Evil is simply the absence of God. It is just like darkness and cold, a word that man has created to describe the absence of God. God did not create evil. Evil is not like faith, or love that exist just as does light and heat. Evil is the result of what happens when man does not have God’s love present in his heart. It’s like the cold that comes when there is no heat or the darkness that comes when there is no light.” The professor sat down.
