It is no longer news that popular Nigerian singer, Adeleke David, popularly known as Davido, recently registered for the compulsory one-year National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme.

The singer reported to the NYSC orientation camp at Iyana-Ipaja to complete his registration, on Thursday.

However, hours later, he was said to be on his way to Boston for his 'Locked Up' tour of the United States of America.

Meanwhile, all NYSC members are expected to be on ground at the camp during the three weeks' orientation programme, with a few exceptions.

Excerpts from the NYSC Bye-laws revised in 1993 give strict rules for corps members during the orientation period.

According to Schedule 1: 3b: "During the period of orientation, every member shall:

(i) Attend regularly, punctually and participate fully in all official engagements on the field, at lecture and all places of work;

(ii) Not leave the Orientation Camp or absent himself from any official activity without the written consent of the State Director or his representative;

(iii) When absent from his duties on account of illness ensure that such absence is covered by an “Excuse Duty Certificate” issued by a medical doctor then on duty at the camp."

The Bye-laws also state penalties for leaving the camp without the permission of the State Director.

According to Schedule 2: 1b states that:

"The following penalties shall be imposed in the following circumstances.

"Leaving the camp without permission of the State Director" will attract “extension of the service year by double the number of days for which the member was absent from his camp and forfeiture of his allowance for the same number of days of which he was absent.”

The NYSC Bye-laws of 1993 is the code guiding every corps member in the country.

When SaharaReporters reached out to an official of Lagos NYSC orientation camp to confirm if Davido got the written consent of the State Director, the official, after initial hesitation to respond to the matter, asked that the State Coordinator, Prince Mohammed Momoh, be contacted. However, efforts by SaharaReporters to get across to him were unsuccessful.

Nigeria's remake of 'This is America' music video goes viral, endorsed by P. Diddy.
American hip-hop superstar, Sean Combs, alias P Diddy, hailed the Nigerian rapper’s efforts, telling his fans on Instagram he was ‘sending love to Nigeria’.
The cinematographer of ‘This is Nigeria’, Tayo Aina confirmed the inspiration taken from ‘This is America’.

‘‘The whole video was done in 3 one-take scenes. It’s very similar to Childish Gambino’s “This is America” but this time reengineered to cover the issues we face in Nigeria as a people, From drug addiction to lack of stable electricity and a lot more,’‘ Aina said while releasing a behind the scenes video of the project.

‘This is America’ is a 4 minute one take music video.

Falz, who is the son of popular Nigerian lawyer and human right activist Femi Falana, is no stranger to doing conscious music. He has previously called out the glorification of internet fraud in Nigerian music.

Davido performs to screaming crowd of 10,000 in Suriname, South America......... This was after his performance in Amsterdam

Davido has proven time and again that the only way for him is up as he continues to break boundaries.

Just yesterday, he performed in the little known country of Suriname in South America and was able to pull a crowd of 10,000 people, a very commendable feat.

Lead researcher William Skylark wrote in the study, "Leg-body ratios that are slightly above the mean are associated with high socioeconomic status, good nutrition and developmental stability, as well as biomechanical efficiency during locomotion. The observed preference for LBRs that are at or slightly above the population mean accords with the idea that these LBRs signal the fitness of the prospective mate."

At Monday night’s Met Gala, Offset and his crew dressed in their Sunday Versace best per the theme Heavenly Bodies. Of course, Migos couldn’t come through without drippin, but unfortunately, the next day, one of Offset’s many chains, worth a whopping $150,000, was reportedly stolen.

According to TMZ, police say the chain was stolen sometime Tuesday evening from Offset’s hotel room in Manhattan. Cardi B is reportedly the one who had to break the news to her fiancé, after he left the chain on a coffee table in the hotel room. It’s not yet clear which of his many chains was stolen, but judging by photos from Monday night’s event, the thief definitely had plenty of options. Hopefully it’s not the beautiful 'Bando' chain Cardi gifted him on Valentine's Day. Cops are reportedly looking at surveillance footage to see if they can find the perp.
