TravelRe: Passengers Exchange Blows In Moving Airplane by toladop(m): 3:38pm On Jan 24, 2008
Disobeying safety instructions is as bad as terrorism. You do not need to belong to any of the groups to be a terrorist. You can be an independent one.If you try that in some terrorism conscious countries you would be thoroughly investigated.Even if you are convinced that mobile phone does not cause interference, wait 4 those that make d rules 2 permit it
TravelRe: Passengers Exchange Blows In Moving Airplane by toladop(m): 12:32pm On Jan 24, 2008
I actually watched a movie where Snoop Dogg was the pilot and a passenger used his phone to make a call during flight and the plane dropped down to the ground. Please nairalanders/nigerians/passengers switch off your phone once you're in d plane. until it is approved 4 us to use phone in plane it is against safety rules to use phone. Simple rule . Obey
BusinessRe: What To Do With His Retirement Money? by toladop(m): 8:51pm On Jan 21, 2008
Don't you get my point that 4 - 5 million is a very paltry amount of money .people are still dividing the money into percentages. Tell me what real estate 5 million would buy. this money is 2 small. How much is a new bus or truck? How much is a completed house? How much is rent for an office and other payments/taxes/levies. How much is a solid gen? plus running cost?

BusinessRe: What To Do With His Retirement Money? by toladop(m): 9:31pm On Jan 18, 2008
Actually, my opinion is that 4 - 5 million is a small amount of money.I am not so familiar with banking, but if he pays that money into his account, I believe he should be able to qualify for a loan. Some of the advice here are good and very practical but I have an observation about Walcolm's idea. 20% of this money cannot do any reasonable thing on a building especially if he is starting from the scratch. I have completed a building recently and I know how much it costs to raise foundation. It seems your Uncle's retirement is unexpected, so if possible he should get a job that would take care of his needs for now. When I have a good idea on what he should do with the money I would post it. I think the suggestions about savings or fixed deposit account would be O.k while your Uncle is working.

PoliticsRe: Nigerian Police Force Is Under Equipped/funded To Curtail The Incesant Robbery by toladop(m): 10:51pm On Aug 23, 2007
now my recommendation. The senate should form a serious committee that would lead to police upgrading and advancement.
1) Illiterates or semi-illiterates should no longer serve as policemen
2) Suitable accomodation should be provided for policemen. If possible, police estates should be built so that once you are policeman, you are accomodated there.
3) police help lines such as 911 should be established
4) Only some special policemen properly trained and equipped should face robbery situations. this would help reduce the issue of police guns used for robbery.
5) the senate should also ensure that important equipment like CCTV SHOULD BE provided
6) for sure, salary upgrade
7) police should be served food at their stations(most important)
cool more people, especially you nairaland people should be encouraged to join police
9) there should be a police academy where people would apply through JAMB
10)there should be legal and human rights department of police to help advice police

If that is so, he would soon be given the Otunba title
SportsRe: Is Wenger An Ijebu Man? by toladop(m): 9:35pm On Aug 23, 2007
So Wenger is an Ijebu man.Honestly, I am really proud of that. At least, he is my brother. Afterall, what happened after Arsenal won EPL is gradually happening to man utd. Though it seems there would be a 2 horse race dis season with arsenal & chelsea

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: At Last, Thierry Henry Is Off To Barca by toladop(m): 5:25am On Jun 23, 2007
my major concern is not thierry leaving though it is most regrettable.the other day vieira left for a paltry 13.7 million pounds now henry going for 16 million.how on earth can carrick and hargreaves be more expensive. However, I feel convinced because thesun.co.uk even posted his letter to the fans(sorry i don't know how to put link). if wenger leaves, thats the end because the arsenal i started supporting would now be totally different.as speculated, if wenger goes(one of the fears why henry is leaving). i think that would be the end of everything.i wish arsenal can delay and collect the right price.drogba can't be 24million and henry 16. shevy can't be 30 million and henry nearly half of that.unacceptable to me.i don't even know why eto'o is no longer part of the deal.arsenal is in a big mess for real
SportsRe: Super Eagles Coach, Berti Vogts, Has Terminated His Contract With Nigeria by toladop(m): 12:52am On Jun 08, 2007
Super eagles are honestly not serious.I mean even a talented player like zizou won't mess up like this, leaving his coach in the lurch about his situation like this. I mean zizou does not need trainig but he is always in camp on time and behaves well without disregarding his coach and country. There is really no need for Mikel to play for U- 23 if he would be serious with eagles and chelsea.Afterall, Reo-coker played more games than him this season and is still playing for U-21 seriously. you people are funny oh. wetin concern super eagles with Shell. i mean is shell or oil company work the only thing. players should make good plans & investments for the latter days.it is not heard of that FA is helping a player after retirement unless he is gravely ill.afterall german FA did not help Vogts & he is working for us to eat.
SportsRe: Super Eagles Coach, Berti Vogts, Has Terminated His Contract With Nigeria by toladop(m): 11:23pm On Jun 06, 2007
why didn't FIFA ban us since. The other day, Ghana walloped us 4 - 1. We played nonsense in Vogts first match even after all the noise of perfecting strategies in closed door trainig sessions. From my own judgement he decided to coach Nigeria just to enjoy himself. This is exactly the major problem with foreign coaches. an indigenous coach wants his country to win and would do his work passionately.if vogts has really resigned please tell me and send me a link.if that man wants to resign because he lost one match, he is not qualified for the job.i mean he does not trust NFA though not his fault and he is always talking about his financial package(that's why he took the job). That NFA they are the same with eagles. if vogts can't do this job let him drop now so we can get another man now who would take charge from now till 2010. if anyforeign coach has won WC before before it would be once. afterall, i am 100% sure that naija won't win the cup.Super eagles better get serious, if not we will no longer be reckoned with.I don't know why they are always injured when nigeria wants to play.I think our drop in rankings is very justified now. I THINK I AM GETTING TIRED OF SUPER EAGLES DISSAPOINTMENT
EducationRe: How was your JAMB? (UME, May 7th 2005, Nigeria) by toladop(m): 12:54am On Jun 06, 2007
i took the controversial exams last year and scored 216. Though sometimes brilliant people do not perform well in the exam, dull people have high scores many times. I felt that once you score over 200 you are qualified to take the post-UME and your result there would determine your admission. Unfortunately, my name did not come out in Unilag list after 37 names came out in the first Mech Eng list. From my investigations, most of the 37 scored over 300. when i tried to ask some people concerning the unilag issue, they said engineering needs 270 in jamb. so why bother me taking the exam, when i don't qualify.I was frustrated because I had a long journey from PH. the benin- ore - lagos road was one of the most frustrating experience of my life. after waking up by 5a.m with good intentions to get to PH ontime, i got home some minutes to 2 a.m after a very horrible experience. there was no time to even stop and eat on the road. UI was my second choice, though they didn't do an exam, they did a so- called interactive session. after sending my SSCE result were I had 4 B's & C's , they said I didn't qualify for the interactive session. i didn't even apply for engineering but comp. sci. Whereas, 98% of people that took Jamb in Rivers state did one form of exam malpractice or the other excluding me sha. invigilators had a good day making good money even advising candidates to cheat in the exams. some of even charged 200 naira per phone call made by students. many candidates for this exam can't even express themselves in good english can't shade, can't even identify their paper types on their question paper before using their runs without the help of the invigilator and they want to study medicine. this is what i really saw. i then decided to study outside Nigeria(Ghana) and started an A level course to while away time and prepare myself. My exposure now changed which broadened my horizon and I decided to apply to some U.k schools. though i had already forgotten about JAMB, i decided to register as insurance.however, there was no space in PH and i registered in Calabar. funny center. you would not believe that the supervisor of that center organised praise and worship before the exams and asked his assistant to pray for us. he then concluded the prayer by asking God to help so that everyone would write the exam for the last time and to change the minds of people who plan to cheat. everybody was asking for who made arrangement for runs and unbelievably there was no runs in dat center. they were trying to make & receive calls but i couldn't believe that almost nobody can put his phone in vibration. Thankfully, a week after the exam I received an offer from Uk and I got another a week later. we thank God result came early this year and I would check my result when I am ready. now i have to spend heavy amounts of money to study abroad and my father has to divert some investments he planned for his retirement like shares for this purpose. the issue of jamb & education shouldn't be treated with levity in this country.it should be visited and adequate measure made to make everything O.k. a blueprint to make tertiary institutions good is abroad. we can't keep ruining this country and depriving/intimidating poor ones of their rights. please o . government make education top priority and do something urgently about that funny thing called JAMB. time is running
