PoliticsRe: Fresh Troubles For Dokpesi As EFCC Investigates Him Over N10bn Publicity Votes by tomholly: 7:47am On Dec 07, 2015
Confess your sins and be forgiven
wachakuta:
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have revealed that the Emeritus chairman, Daar Communications Plc., Chief Raymond Dokpesi will have to account for about N10 billion votes given to him for publicity.

It will be noted that Daar Communications was granted the broadcast right for the U-17 World Cup in 2009 by the Federation of International Football Associations. But in an intriguing plot, Dokpesi approached then President Umaru Yar’Adua demanding payment for broadcasting the football tournament. In an invoice sent to the central government entitled, DAAR-FIFA HOST BROADCASTER BUDGET, Dokpesi demanded N5billion to defray the company’s cost.

Former president Umaru Yar’Adua refused to pay him on the basis that the Federal Government did not enter into any agreement with him and the facilities he used to broadcast the tournament belonged to NTA, a government owned station.

According to an EFCC source ”We have been trying to reconcile records with Dokpesi and he has about N10 billion to account for.”

Apart from the payment of N2.1 billion, a highly-placed source within the Commission listed more issues against Dokpesi as follows: payment of $50 million by ex-President’s campaign organisation; alleged plot to hack into number 60959146 with Sort Code 201334 belonging to one Dr. Haggai I. Ali with Barclays Bank, Queens Road Branch and Bristol, UK; alleged indebtedness of about N3.3 billion to Fidelity Bank out of N7.5 billion; operating DAAR Communications account alone despite the fact that it is a publicly quoted firm; and over-payment of more than N8 billion for the transmission of U-17 Junior World Cup (2009) and non -payment of dividends to shareholders.

The source added: “So far, Dokpesi has to account for over N10 billion and he has been confronted with some evidence which he admitted were some of the transactions he engaged in.

“We have discovered that Dokpesi was paid N8,047,275,290.99 on January 27, 2012 through account number 2017679134 with Maitama branch of First Bank Plc. We have proof of acknowledgement by the bank on January 28, 2012.

“In spite of the fact that the technical facilities used for the World Cup belonged to NTA, Dokpesi presented a bill which varied from N5 billion to N3.5 billion between 2009 and 2010 to N8.047 billion.

“Records showed that ex-President Umaru Yar’Adua rejected the bill and the National Broadcasting Commission advised against the payment of such outrageous amount.”

Asked when the suspects will be arraigned in court, the source simply said: “Very, very soon.”

Jonathan, who is being honoured for his democratic credentials and “upholding human rights in Africa” becomes the first African President to be so honoured.

He is to receive his honour on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at the group’s annual dinner in Geneva, Switzerland.

The Diplomatic Circle, which is a group of diplomats globally, have also scheduled Dr. Jonathan to deliver a keynote address at the event.

Earlier in the year, a public policy organisation on African affairs, the Africa Political and Economic Strategic Center (AFRIPOL) had also nominated Dr. Goodluck Jonathan for the Nobel Peace Prize.

The organisation stated the peaceful way he conceded victory to President Buhari in the general election as one that deserves the attention of Nobel Peace Prize committee.

A raid by narcotics agents of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, has led to the discovery of 137kgs of cannabis and the arrest of two suspects in Abia State. The NDLEA commander in the state, Mr. Dele Akingbade, said the two suspects, 35-year-old Fidelis Ogbonna and 68-year-old Ududem Nwoke, were major hemp distributors in the state.

Akingbade said a cannabis warehouse run by Nwoke was discovered during the raid. It was there the NDLEA discovered nine bags of cannabis weighing 87kg.

When Ogbonna was arrested, a vehicle he used for the distribution was also impounded. 50kg of cannabis ready for distribution was reportedly recovered by the NDLEA agents in the process.

Fidelis, a native of Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State, said he is married with three children. He explained that he could not go beyond primary school level in his education and it has forced him to rely on the proceeds of the cannabis business to fend for his family.

“My father died when I was a little child and I have suffered. A friend introduced me to the cannabis business. I use the proceeds to take care of my family. I also use my personal car to distribute it to avoid suspicion,” he said.

Nwoke also gave a similar confession. He said he had been sustaining his family with cannabis proceeds.

The suspect, a native of Obowo Local Government Area of Imo State told investigators that he has no formal education and is married with two children.

“Cannabis sale is my only source of livelihood,” he said.

Officials told Saturday Punch that his son, who had been assisting his father in the cannabis trade, is currently on the run.

According to a statement by NDLEA spokesperson, Mr. Mitchell Ofoyeju, the suspects will soon be charged to court for unlawful possession and trafficking of cannabis contrary to Section 11 sub-section C and D of the NDLEA Act.

He quoted the acting Chairman of the agency, Mrs. Roli Bode-George, as expressing optimism that the agency’s anti-drug strategies would continue to yield positive results in the country. “These arrests and seizures are products of painstaking surveillance and the public should look forward to a systematic dismantling of drug trafficking cartels in the days ahead,” Bode-George said.

CrimeRe: Department Of State Security Robbery Scandal. by tomholly: 7:40am On Dec 07, 2015

LeQuadCore:
The Department of State Security (DSS) today issued a release disclosing that some its agents took part in robbing a Bureau De Change in Abuja. Curiously, the agency’s release, which was signed by a spokesman, Tony Opuiyo, failed to provide details of the robbery, apparently in an effort to cover up the ultimate ownership of the stolen money.
However, an investigation by SaharaReporters confirmed that the robbery took place on November 20, 2015 near the home of Senate President Bukola Saraki in Abuja.

Mr. Saraki had frequently used bureau de change agents to carry out money laundering since his days as governor of Kwara State, a fact detailed in police reports of his money laundering activities.

SaharaReporters learnt that when Mr. Saraki needed some cash with which to bribe judges handling his numerous challenges to his ongoing trial at the Code of Conduct Bureau, he often called on bureau de change agents to help transport the cash, sometimes after converting it to foreign currency, which is much easier to move around.

Our reliable sources, in confirming Mr. Saraki’s part in the bizarre heist, said the DSS had yet to determine the exact amount of cash Mr. Saraki was trying to raise at the time of the robbery, but they insisted it was in billions of naira.

A source familiar with the DSS investigations said the agency’s operatives attached to the Senate President were always aware of the senator’s procurement and movement of cash. However, on this occasion, Mr. Saraki decided not to use his DSS agents to escort the cash, since he feared “all eyes were on him and on some of his details, too.” Instead, the bureau de change operator was to make his own arrangement for police officers to accompany him as he moved the cash to Mr. Saraki’s home.

Unknown to both Senator Saraki and the bureau de change operator, the senator’s security detail had a plan of their own. They recruited some of their colleagues, including army Captain Hussein Ishaku Mshelia, to waylay the bureau de change operator on his way to Mr. Saraki’s home. The robbers stole the money by staging a perfect “sting operation.” The security agents who carried out the heist were dressed in DSS camouflage and strategically positioned themselves in and around Mr. Saraki's house.

When the delivery vehicle was about five minutes away from Senator Saraki's house, several heavily armed men dressed in DSS vests and military camouflage struck and rounded up the bureau de change operators conveying the money. The agents reportedly told the bureau de change operators that they were under arrest for money laundering, specifically for moving such a huge amount of cash without any evidence of official transaction. The three policemen hired by the bureau de change operators left as soon as the armed interceptors presented identity cards that showed that they were truly DSS operatives.

As soon as the police escorts left, convinced that the DSS agents were truly on official assignment, the armed agents, among them some DSS operatives attached to Mr. Saraki, told the bureau de change operators that they knew where the money was being moved to and aware that the deal was illegal.

When the main bureau de change operator telephoned Senator Saraki to report his trouble, the senator instructed him not to mention his name at all. But Mr. Saraki did not know that some of the agents who had planned and executed the interception and heist were his security agents. Our source said Mr. Saraki initially thought the security men who had caught the bureau de change operator were from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Thereafter, the DSS agents who planned the operation originally demanded N350 million in order to let the vehicle conveying the cash to move on. After much negotiation, they were paid N310 million.

Shortly after the robbery, the suspects were identified and detained at the agency’s headquarters in Abuja. Some of the suspects, confirmed to be SSS personnel attached to Senator Saraki, have undergone several interrogations. SaharaReporters learned that, as a result of the heist, Senator Saraki’s DSS detail, including his chief security officer, named Paul, and chief detail, named Abdulrasheed Ahmadu Maigari, had been reassigned to the DSS headquarters. Another set of DSS agents have been deployed to Mr. Saraki.

Mr. Saraki, who enjoys a cozy relationship with the Director General of DSS, Musa Lawal, personally contacted the DG to request the return of Paul, the senator’s erstwhile CSO. A source within the agency told SaharaReporters that, despite the senator’s request, both Mr. Paul and Mr. Maigari remained at the headquarters where they also underwent interrogation before the DSS released some names today.

Today’s press release, which was authorized by the DG of the DSS, was instructive in its omission of crucial details, including the date, time and location of the robbery. The omissions were designed to conceal Mr. Saraki’s role as the recipient of the stolen funds.

Below is the text of the statement by the DSS:

N310M ROBBERY-DSS ARRESTS CULPRITS: N66.4 MILLION RECOVERED

The Department of State Services (DSS) wishes to inform the general public that the Service has arrested two (2) out of five (5) of its Staff involved in the robbery and sharing, on 20th November, 2015, of the sum of three hundred and ten million naira (N310m) belonging to a Bureau De Change operator in Abuja. While three (3) of the DSS staff are now at large, the Military Authorities have commenced a detailed investigation of five (5) of its personnel involved in the crime.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that Abdulrasheed Ahmadu MAIGARI of the DSS, conspired with four (4) other colleagues of his namely: Solomon INUSA, Peter OKOYE, Patrick ISHAYA and George Mwatapwa IBBI, to carry out this reprehensible act. The five (5) military personnel were led by one Capt. Hussein Ishaku MSHELIA. Meanwhile, the Service has arrested MAIGARI and IBBI; and MSHELIA equally arrested by the Army authorities. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend those still at large. A total of Sixty-Six Million Four Hundred and Thirty Seven Thousand, Four Hundred and Forty-five Naira (N66,437,445.00) and Six Thousand Two Hundred Dollars ($6,200) have so far been recovered, while efforts are being made to recover the remaining amounts. It is to be noted that security agencies now act in concert, thus the joint investigation undertaken with the Police, Army and the DSS.

This action of the Service is in line with the posture of the current Administration and DSS management focus on professionalism, transparency and accountability. Those so far arrested have been suspended pending the completion of investigations. For the avoidance of doubt, the Service wants to reiterate its commitment to the basic ideals and principles as established by its forebears and will not spare anyone found to be contravening the rules and regulations or the laws of the land. We therefore encourage members of the public with useful information that could lead to the arrest of those at large to volunteer same to the Service or other security agency. The DSS also wishes to use this opportunity to assure all law abiding citizens of their safety and urge them to partner with the Service in the smooth discharge of its responsibilities.

CrimeRe: You Can't Believe What The Nigerian Senate Wants To Pass As Law by tomholly: 7:16am On Dec 07, 2015
Na waoh
Veratoocute:
This Article was written by Ends.ng Perry Brimah!

Even China, one of the most repressive nations in the world does not have such inane laws. Nor does Kim Jong-un's North Korea...that If I should send a text today to a friend of mine, with some faulty message about a Nigerian Senator; If someone sees the text or the phone networks pass it to the authorities, I will be arrested and jailed for two years and/or fined almost $10,000.

Only a bunch of brainless psychopaths, devoid of ideas and dependent on public employment can ever come up with and support such barbaric suppression of the people. Only illiterates can conjure such a bill and read it once and twice with a nod.
I must tell you something about these lot; the same lot who stand behind the senate president accused of pervasive and chronic corruption. The men who cook up such legislation and nod to it are the 89 who march behind Saraki to his corruption trials. These are career crooks.

In China where such repressive law does not even exist, there is death for corrupt officials. A brother, Mohammed Sabo Keana said that the condition which will make him support the Saraki text crime bill will be if the same shameless senators propose and put into law a bill that prescribes death by hanging for corrupt office holders. I won't hold my breath.

So I tell you about these beasts; they are worse than the Chinese leadership in terms of repressive dreams. They cannot make a single dollar out of public office. They cannot sell a single pencil and make a profit. Their families are likewise; otherwise why do they live off of corruption and slicing massive pieces of the Nigerian pie to survive? What kind of people will pass no sensible bills, will never be known for good, but will be the ones who on their 2-days a week sittings, hurry to divide up juicy committees and pass bills that proffer immunity on themselves and incarceration on Nigeria's disenfranchised masses? What do you call such Aye-Ayes?
I will tell you about them. Nigeria's legislooters are the scum of the earth. You have the like of Dino Melaye. Can someone tell me how he made his money to buy all those expensive cars? It is known that people who are so vain lack the tools of manhood. This explains why he seeks such vain glory. His cars give him what is missing between his legs and between his parietal bones. Dino Melaiye was lucky. He rode on our war against Jonathan. We were blindsided, or rather focused on the bigger wars; Jonathan, Dasuki and their Boko Haram cash venture. The day Dino won, he showed off his cars.

Time is our friend. How time flies. It has already been 6 months. Just another 3 and a half years. Is that not all? Three and a half more years in that 'hallowed and sacred' house as Dumbo Menace calls it. Just three and a half. Enjoy and then come again to the ballot. Haha.

Can you imagine a people who leave their job and march along side a man accused of gross corruption with charges impossible to shake off. They follow Saraki to the courts to bully the judges. Are these human beings or rotten nuisances in human skin? Bully the judges and then bully the masses.
I said I will tell you about them. The little of Dino Melaye's rant I listened to before I tuned in to lawmakers in UK discussing how to fight Daesh, I heard Dino call their chamber a 'sacred' one. Sacred my foot. That chamber is no more sacred than the nasty chewed gum that sticks under your shoe that you scratch and scrape to try to escape from. Big pay, tiny brains. Ours is the most useless Assembly in the world. After all are these not the murderers who watched as Jonathan and Sambo Dasuki did all that to us leading to over 100,000 Boko Haram deaths and 3 million displaced?

Are these not the nitwits who had no clue how to screen our ministers and approved all even those with records who slighted them in answer to their one track and one step questions?

Are these not the criminals who failed to impeach inebriated killer Joe, before during and after Boko Haram kidnapped our poor, dear Chibok girls and his administration denied it and his wife obfuscated it? And only raised the threat of impeaching the president the three times he affected them, when their jobs or wages or immunity was at stake?

You see, as I was saying earlier, career polithievians have no faith in their seed. They know for a fact that their children will be as brainless and useless as they, this is why they steal to live and live to steal. They steal ridiculously so much because they do not want their children to die miserable deaths of failure, being empty heads as they are. So they steal more than they need and buy homes in Dubai, London and America so their empty-head kids can have places to live. Why else will a public servant become a proud and shameless public thief? My dad was a public servant, a minister, and he left office broke but with pride.

I love him because he made me wealthy in mind. He trained me to be a success. I do not need a dime from him. I would never accept a house from him abroad if he had to loot or otherwise covet money of Nigeria's poor to buy this for me. My dad gave me more. He trusted that the toolset he gave me will make me never need. Not this lot who cut up incomes they know they do not deserve for the nothing but harm they do in a nation where 80% live under a dollar-a-day.

No, not these ones I tell you about. These ones want to steal and to shut us up so we cannot even text each other to lament over their stealing our future. Dino, NaAllah, these people do not have much intelligence, in fact they have none at all. Their brains are empty baskets, filled only with wickedness and deadly hunger for cash, the only value system in Abuja.

I promise them that we will fight them. We will hold placards and harass their children abroad. We will carry placards any time they travel and at our embassies with their names and their records of theft and shame. When we can, we will finish them. Like we fought Boko Haram; like we fought Dasuki and Jonathan, we will fight them. Oh, we will fight them. This I promise.

CrimeRe: Ex-commissioner Sentenced To 10 Years In Prison For N51.5m Fraud by tomholly: 7:15am On Dec 07, 2015
Heyah the love of Fraud is the beginning of
Sexist:
A former commissioner of Local Government and
Chieftaincy Affairs in Adamawa state, John Elias,
has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for
defrauding Adamawa State government of the sum of
N51.5 million while in office.

Justice Bilkisu Bello Aliyu found Elias guilty of the four count charges of fraud brought against him by the Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
He was arraigned on October 22, 2015.

The ex-commissioner was prosecuted, along with his three companies - Oil Trust Limited, AL-Akim
Investment Nigeria Limited and Da’ama Specialist
Hospital, for conspiracy and unlawful dealing in
forfeited property.

He allegedly sold and appropriated some properties,
which were under interim forfeiture to the Federal
Government.

An evaluation exercise conducted by the EFCC on the forfeited properties revealed that the accused
person sold a landed property situated at Galadima
Aminu Way, Yola to one Hamid Yusuf for
N20,000,000.00 (Twenty Million Naira) through his agent, Jibril Mairiga.

He also allegedly gave another property on Atiku
Abubakar Way, Yola, Adamawa State, to his brother,
Dr. Joel Yohanna, for use as a private hospital.
One of the charges read: “That you, Al-kim
Investment Nigeria Limited and John Babani Elias
(M), sometimes in February, 2011 at Jimeta-Yola,
Adamawa State within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court and without due authorization by
the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission dealt with, having put tenants and collecting rents in and
over the property known as four unit houses behind
First Bank of Nigeria Plc.

Jimeta, Yola and which
property is a subject of an interim order of
forfeiture issued on the 13th day of December, 2005 by the Federal High Court, Lagos in charge No. FHC/L/CS/1258/2005, contrary to and punishable under section 32(1) of the Economic and Financial Crimes
Commission (Establishment) Act 2004”.

In her judgement, Justice Aliyu said, "I hereby
sentenced the first convict, John Babani Elias to 10
years imprisonment on count 3 and another 10 years imprisonment on count 4 but the two sentences will run concurrently," Justice Bilkisu Aliyu ruled.

"In addition, the first convict must return/refund
the sum of N51.5 million to Adamawa state local
Government joint account fund from where it was
stolen and diverted by him and his company".

The judge also ordered the Corporate Affairs
Commission (CAC) to shut down Al-Akim Investment
Limited and have its assets forfeited to the federal
government of Nigeria.
PoliticsRe: Bloody Battle In Sambisa Forest Leaves Three Soldiers Dead by tomholly: 7:14am On Dec 07, 2015
Noted God win
austentero:
Reports reaching us indicate that three Nigerian
soldiers have lost their lives in a bloody battle
against Boko Haram members in the notorious
Sambisa forest.
This was reportedly made known by the Army
spokesman, Sani Usman, on Sunday, December 6, in
a statement obtained by Premium Times.
The spokesman said the tragedy occurred following
the commencement of attack against the terrorists
deep inside the Sambisa forest.
Usman said many of the terrorists were also killed
during the attack, adding that several captives were
rescued by the soldiers during the operation. He
further hinted that three soldiers also sustained
various degrees of injuries in the various military
operations against the demonic group.
Below is the full statement issued by the Nigerian
Army:
Military Commence Strikes Deep Into Sambisa Forest
The Nigerian Army has commenced strikes deep
inside Sambisa forest which is believed to be the
remaining strong point of the Boko Haram terrorists.
Various units of the Army have advanced deep into
the forest clearing most of the camps therein,
rescuing persons held captive, arresting some
terrorists and destroying most of their weapons and
equipment.
Advancing troops of the Nigerian Army, supported by
the Nigerian Air Force were able to clear and destroy
Boko Haram terrorists camps at Shuari, Adembe,
Yerimari Kura, Yerimari Gana, Gonin Kurmi, Kore,
Mainya Kore, and Lopere. Additionally, the Multi-
barrel Rocket Launcher Regiment has destroyed the
terrorists camps at Dure, Dure Kore, Jokwa, as well
as several other camps.
The troops recovered foodstuff, motorcycles, flags,
Improvised Explosive Making Devices (IED) materials
and military uniforms. Among other discoveries were
the terrorists tunnels, weapons and equipment. The
soldiers also recovered 2,000 cows rustled from
various persons over time and rescued women and
children held captives by the Boko Haram. While the
animals have been moved to Kanwuri, the rescued
persons have been evacuated and are being given all
the necessary support and assistance.
During the encounter with the terrorists at Yerimari
Gana a number of Boko Haram terrorists were killed
and some suspected terrorists were arrested who are
being interrogated. However, a soldier sustained
gunshot wound and fracture on the leg.
Similarly, while advancing to destroy Nefari terrorists
camp, troops discovered and cleared 3 IEDs laid
along the route. The camp was successfully cleared
and troops have continued their advance while a
blocking force has been deployed to prevent
infiltration and possible escape by the terrorists.
Unfortunately during another encounter with the
terrorists along the axis of advance, 3 soldiers made
the supreme sacrifice, while an officer and 2 soldiers
were wounded in action.
It is instructive to note that the troops morale is very
high and being conscious of their set objective, they
are unrelenting in their determination to defeat the
Boko Haram terrorists.
In a related development, troops have also destroyed
Boko Haram terrorists camps Bulagaije and Disa,
Gwoza Local Government Area, Borno State and
recovered motorcycles, Dane guns and ammunitions.
Sambisa forest is the major stronghold of the
terrorist group which has claimed the lives of no
fewer than 20,000 innocent people since 2009.
Just yesterday, December 5, reports have it that
about between 15 and 30 people were killed while
over 130 were injured after a suicide bombing
suspected to have been orchestrated by Boko Haram
members at Koulfoua island on the Chadian side of

The Department of State Services (DSS) in a statement issued in Abuja on Sunday, December 6, said the Service has arrested two out of five of its staff members involved in the robbery of N310 million belonging to a Bureau De Change operator in Abuja. According to the statement, preliminary investigations revealed that Abdulharasheed Ahmadu Maigari conspired with four of his colleagues, Solomon Inusa, Patrick Ishaya, George Mwatapwa Ibbi, and Peter Okoye, to carry out the attack. Maigari and Ibbi were arrested while the other three are at still at large.
"Efforts are ongoing to apprehend those still at large. It is to be noted that security agencies now act in concert, thus the joint investigation undertaken with the Police, Army and the DSS," the statement reads.

"This action of the Service is in line with the posture of the current Administration and DSS management focus on professionalism, transparency and accountability. Those so far arrested have been suspended pending the completion of investigations. "For the avoidance of doubt, the Service wants to reiterate its commitment to the basic ideals and principles as established by its forebears and will not spare anyone found to be contravening the rules and regulations or the laws of the land. "We therefore encourage members of the public with useful information that could lead to the arrest of those at large to volunteer same to the Service or other security agency. "The DSS also wishes to use this opportunity to assure all law abiding citizens of their safety and urge them to partner with the Service in the smooth discharge of its responsibilities."

thoney99:
A part-time English teacher from Britain who fought as an al-Qaeda militant in Afghanistan and Bosnia, is among the latest group of five men arrested for being involved in Islamic State (IS) and other terror groups.

Bukit Aman Special Branch Counter Terrorism Division nabbed the 44-year-old Briton together with a 25-year-old Bangladeshi, a 29-year-old Nigerian, a 31-year-old Indonesian and a 59-year-old Malaysian, who is also a Rela member, in a series of raids in Selangor, Kelantan, Johor and here between Nov 16 and Dec 1.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said the British national, a Muslim convert who had been under surveillance for some time, was arrested in Jalan Duta on Nov 16.

“He fought in Afghanistan and Bosnia after joining al-Qaeda. He was working as a part-time English teacher in Penang and we have been monitoring him closely,” the IGP said.

The Nigerian, who had been using his guise as a student in a private college in Petaling Jaya for his terrorism-related activities, was arrested a day later.

Investigators believe that he is actively connected to terror groups in Africa.

Both the Briton and Nigerian have since been deported.

The three other suspects, an Indonesian, a Bangladeshi and a Malaysian, are believed to have links to the IS.

The Indonesian, identified as the leader of the cell, was nabbed on Dec 1 in Benut, Pontian, where he was working as a mechanic.

The IGP said the man had performed the bai’ah (pledge of loyalty) to IS’ “Caliph” Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi via Facebook in mid 2014.

“We also believe that he is one of the main persons recruiting and sending trained militants to Syria. We suspect that he has been arranging travels for IS followers in Malaysia and other South-East Asian countries,” he added.

It was learnt that the Indonesian had direct connections with known Malaysian militants, including former “The Ukays” band drummer Akil Zainal.

Akil, a Universiti Teknologi Mara graduate, was among the first batch of Malaysians who went to Syria and publicly declared support for militant groups.

The two other cell members, the Malaysian and the Bangladeshi, were arrested in Kota Baru and Klang respectively.

At a separate event, the IGP said Bukit Aman would always be on the alert with threats from the IS and other terror groups.

“We will not compromise when it comes to security. Every action will be taken to prevent bad things from happening in this country,” he said.

The IGP said terror groups, including the IS would not be allowed to gain a foothold in Malaysia, he added.

Asked whether any of the suspects had been planning to launch attacks in Malaysia, he said that was their main agenda.
