The Bayelsa state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has alleged that Governor Seriake Dickson’s recent visit to the presidential villa, Aso Rock, was to beg President Muhammadu Buhari to join the APC. 

Despite recent political disagreements, Governor Dickson is known as a core loyalist of former president, Goodluck Jonathan

The party’s allegation was made through the Sylva-Igiri Campaign Organisation (SICO), in a statement signed by its Director, Media and Publicity, Chief Nathan Egba.

Egba who said the governor was at the seat of power without invitation, further said Dickson who sought to seek audience with Buhari, was also denied access to meet with the Chief of Staff to the federal government, Alhaji Abba Kyari.

He said: “Our sources confirmed to us that Governor Dickson went to beg the  presidency to forgive him over his derogatory and inflammatory statements during the election and to prevail on the APC candidate, Chief Timipre Sylva, to soft pedal in Southern Ijaw LGA to enable him win the forthcoming rerun election in the area.

“In return for that favour, the governor proposed to forment an artificial  crisis in the PDP at the national level and use that as a basis to decamp from his party to the ruling APC. His argument was that he recognised the fact that Bayelsa state cannot afford to remain in opposition to the ruling party.

“We know of a fact that this would be the second time Governor Seriake Dickson would be seeking to dump the PDP for the APC in the course of elections in thes.

“The first time was in the heat of the National Assembly primaries of early last year when he sought to replace all serving National Assembly members from the  State with his cronies against the wishes of former President Goodluck Jonathan, who wanted the performing ones to be returned.

“On that occasion, he openly threatened both the former President and the PDP hierarchy of his readiness to decamp to the APC  and using his past relationship with the APC National Leader, Sen. Bola Tinubu to secure tickets for his preferred candidates, as well as himself to defeat the PDP at the polls.

“Of course he got his way in that election with Dr. Jonathan despite sponsored verbal and media attacks against the former First Lady, Dame Patience.

“But unfortunately for Mr. Dickson, the APC unlike his party, the PDP, will not fall for such cheap antics and the officials he met with, clearly told him there was no deal. He therefore, had to return home deflated and empty handed.”

But in a swift reaction to Egba’s claims, the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in a statement signed by the Director, Restoration Campaign Organisation (RCO), Jonathan Obuebite, denied the allegation.

He said: “Governor Dickson has no reason to defect to the APC in order to win an election that had ahead been won. We call on APC to accept the fact that they had lost this election. They have not only lost, they have also been roundly rejected by the people. No amount of propaganda, lies and deceit can change the outcome of an election that had already been won by the PDP.”

Recall that the Bayelsa state governorship election was held on Saturday, December 5, but that of the Southern Ijaw region was nullified by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the election was declared inconclusive.

INEC said the election was nullified due to violence, abduction of electoral officials and ballot box snatching in the area. Results already announced indicates that Governor Dickson is leading in the poll.

However, both Dickson and Sylva have been asking to be declared winner of the election by INEC.

Malaysian high court this morning Dec. 28th sentenced a 37 year old Nigerian man identified as Ekene Collins Isaac to death by hanging after he was found guilty of trafficking 915.6 grammes of methamphetamine three years ago in Malaysia.

Court papers showed that Collins who was a cleaner in Nigeria, committed the offence at Wad 6C, Serdang Hospital, at Jalan Puchong, Kajang, between 7.20 a.m. on March 3, 2012 and 1.00 p.m. on March 5 of the same year. The banned drugs were found inside his body.

The presiding Judge, Datuk Wan Afrah Wan Ibrahim handed down the sentence after she was satisfied that the prosecution had proven the case against him. He did not show any reaction when the sentence was read out by Wan Afrah.

Certainly not a headline people often see or imagine to read about in a season like this but this is where i've found myself against my wish.

I had to create a new NL account for this cos i'll say i'm pretty much an active nairalander so I wouldn't wanna disclose my details to the general public.

It's only natural for one to look at his/her life as the curtains of a particular year is been shut on their face and begin to analyse what the year brought for them and in most cases,plan for the year ahead.I guess,from the topic,you should know by now that 2015 wasn't a good one for me over here.I'll try as much as possible to be brief but not leaving out the important details.

Straight to the point now...
I got admitted to the university in the 2009/2010 session(school name and department withheld).As everyone would,i was very happy,seeing I got admitted in the course I wanted to study.i was very much hardworking bookwise and commited to fellowship activities that I became the 100 level cordinator.it took my time a lot but I still made sure I read everyday,attend tutorials et al.Fast forward to when my results were released,i failed.i needed just one course to be promoted and I saw an absent case.On going to the dept I had the absent case,i saw a name that was just like mine and I passed the course.All the nysc guy in charge then had to do was find my main script and confirm it.He told me to pay him money for it that he paid in school too.Been a christian,i prayed everyday over the issue and left it for God.i even went there with my course adviser and he told me if the script and result is sent,he'll rectify it.even after all my praying and pestering the guy,it was never sent so I was aked to repeat the class.i just couldn't so I made up my mind to transfer to another dept.i practically spent that session in my hostel doing nothing with no intention of going back to that dept.To aid my transfer,i had to fail again so the transfer process won't be hectic.i din't bother preparing for the sessional exams.i just wrote the exam anyhow and failed.so I was asked to withdraw from the faculty which made it easy for the other faculty to accept me.meanwhile during all this,i was given a high post in fellowship as a leader of church pastors.it wasn't like other fellowship ministry groups one could just enter.It was by appointment so the prestige was very much huge considering the fellowship was even among the top 5 in school then(last I checked).i held on to the post for a while but looking at the devotion,dedication,seed sowing and more I had made in my 100 level and my academic result that section,i will say I wasn't really into 'God things' anymore.On seeing a little chance,I wrote a letter of resignation on the office I was occupying.it made everywhere in the fellowship to shake.So much that alumni,church patrons and matrons were all up on my phone asking to see me.i later stopped the visits and switched off my phone for over three months cos it became too much.i got a new line for my family and close contacts to get in touch with me.I left fellowship cos I couldn't be doing bad and still pretend to be serving God.i hated hypocrisy.

1. Use a spring from your old pen to protect your charger from bending or breaking.

Have you been wondering what the spring of an old pen could be used to do? Or wondering how to prevent your charger from breaking just at the charging neck? Using the spring as a stability structure for your charger is not a bad idea since the diameter of most cables are equivalent to the inner diameter of the spring, its a win win.

2. Putting a dry tea bag in smelly shoes.

Tea seems not to be the only product of a tea bag, Moisture is the property that makes your shoe smell, the ability of a teabag to absorb odor via moisture cannot be over-emphasized. You simply take the tea bags after using them for tea, dry them out then put them near the toes on the sole of the shoe. This works great in tennis shoes or any shoe that absorbs moisture that has a bad smell. Try it out! You can also take any peel from a citrus fruit such as an orange, grapefruit, lime or lemon and put that peel in the shoe as well and leave it in overnight. Take it out in the morning and see how that changes the smell of your shoe.

3. Getting More Space In The Microwave

This is indeed a conservative method, and as an environmental engineer, i see this as one of the fast ways to ensure cleaner production in reducing total power utilization. Now back to the gist, my microwave at home has a space width of 3 inches, that means i cannot conveniently put two plates of at least 2inches each at once, this method mitigates that. Look for a tin with a lesser diameter and height (Not lesser than what can carry your second plate), then place the second plate on the tin. Since the microwave works on a rotating principle, the rotation on the tin is transferred to the plate and space is conserved.

4. Using Your Egg Crate To Cool Your Laptop as a Laptop Fan

A laptop fan in ibadan starts from 3k5, you don't have the money to buy one now but your laptop would not stop overheating most especially when you place it on a flat surface, an egg crate could come to your aid. Almost all households have an eggcrate in the kitchen, pick it up and clean it, place it calmly on the flat surface or your bed, then put your laptop on it, the egg crate does two things intermittently, its made of composites which are insulating (repels heat) in property, and it give space for aeration (air flow). After knowing this, i hope u'll still use ur crates for eggs oooo. hahahhahaha...
