Crime › Re: Man Beats Pregnant Wife To Death In Lagos For Calling Him ‘irresponsible’ by tomholly: 11:30am On Dec 11, 2015 |
DONSMITH123: A certain Mr. Bright (surname withheld) has been arrested by officers of Ejigbo police station for beating his wife to death.
Mr. Bright and his late wife reside in Olusesi Street in Idimu road, Ejigbo Lagos.
DAILY POST gathered that the couple, who have been married for years, were known for their constant domestic violence.
Resident told our correspondent that argument ensued between the couple over feeding expense.
The woman, it was gathered, called her husband ‘irresponsible man’.
Angered by the wife’s unguarded outburst, the husband descended on her with countless punches till she collapsed and died on the spot.
“When the man noticed his wife was dead, he quickly removed the body and put inside his car boot,” the resident said.
However, luck ran out of the man after a neighbour spotted him and raised alarm, which attracted other tenants.
The prompt intervention of the security men saved the man from being lynched by some angry youths.
He was subsequently arrested and taken to the police station.
When our reporter visited the street on Thursday, residents of the areas were seen discussing the incident in groups.
A source said the remains of the deceased have been deposited at a mortuary in the area.

Nairaland General › Re: How Money Disappeared From My Pocket by tomholly: 11:29am On Dec 11, 2015 |
Sijo01: Am sharing this personal experience on how money mysteriously disappeared from my pocket for all who cares to read to be fully guarded and watchful this season and beyond.
Am still confused, in shock and still can’t put one or two together on how this happened.
I left home for the salon around 3:30 pm yesterday (29/11/2015) after empting my wallet and clearing all cash in sight with the aim of buying drugs for my toothache and doing light shopping on my way back home. The cash was neatly kept in my jeans pocket with exception to N100 which will take me to my destination. I held the N100 with my phones and keys in my hand; boarded a bus to New Benin; paying no attention to other passengers. I was glued to my phone (Nairalanding). On getting to New Benin, I gave the Driver N100 and he gave me a change of N50. Still held the N50 in my hand and boarded another Bus going to 3rd junction. As usual, I was still glued to my phone. I gave the conductor the N50 and collected my N10 change. On getting to 3rd Junction after alighting from the bus, I decided to keep the N10 with the other cash in my pocket. Bingo! My pocket was EMPTY. I went back to the bus searched the floor , my money was not in sight. I was confused and my throat suddenly went dry. I looked around and saw a girl selling sachet water. I flagged her down, bought one with my last N10 and re-energized myself with the water.
I was still in that state of confusion not knowing what to do and how to get back home when I saw a colleague. After exchanging pleasantries, I told her my predicament. To God be the glory, she had enough money on her and she bailed me out.
Am still pained, bitter and sad for loose-guarding to the extent of not knowing how money disappeared from my jeans pocket. The most painful part of it, I don’t know the exact amount. Crime › Re: Husband Arrested For Recording His Dying Wife Without Offering Help by tomholly: 9:50am On Dec 11, 2015 |
END TIME HUSBAND sugarbelly1: 29-year-old businessman, Oluchi Ajimowu, has been arrested by the State Department for Criminal Investigation, Yaba, Lagos, for his alleged involvement in the death of his wife, 23 year old Priscillia Ajimowu. The couple lived with their children in Festac, Lagos before the wife's demise.
The police think that Ajimowu either slammed his wife’s head on the floor, or the mother of two poisoned herself due to frustrations in her marriage. Ajimowu claims that he had locked his wife in her room on November 29, seized her phone and went out with their two children, after they arrived from their outing, he reportedly met his wife foaming in the mouth.
His wife who was a nurse had asked to be taken to the hospital, but he allegedly refused, instead he gave her palm oil and recorded her with his phone for about 40 minutes until she died.
It was gathered that prior to her death, Ajimowu had battered and subjected the deceased to inhuman treatment throughout the four years they spent in South Africa. They decided to relocate to Nigeria. Ajimowu arrived four months ago while the wife arrived on November 27, two days before her death. It was gathered that Ajimowu had put their house for sale shortly after the wife’s death. The couple’s oldest child, seven-year-old Ella, said that there was a pesticide and a drink in the room where her mother was on the fateful day, adding that her father was “not nice to my mother” while they were in South Africa.
She said: “Dad used to shout at mummy and beat her and she would be crying. That day we left her alone in the house. Daddy took the keys and mummy’s phone and locked mummy inside. “When we came back home, daddy parked outside, locked us inside the car and went inside. After that, he called us to ‘come, come and see your mummy on the floor’. Mummy was saying, ‘Take me to hospital, I’m tired’. He started videoing her. He gave her red oil, but she spat it out. Her body was cold.” The deceased’s mother, Mrs. Stella Ayobo, said her daughter had planned to visit her on the fateful day, but had cancelled the visit. She added that Priscillia had not been happy throughout her 7 year marriage to Ajimowu . She added that Oluchi had shortly after his wife’s death reported at the Aguda Police Division, saying a friend took poison and died in his house.
She said: “Four years ago, they went to South Africa. She always called me to report how Oluchi maltreated her. “She came back to Nigeria on November 27. She visited me on November 28 and promised to visit me again the following day, being a Sunday. But that day, around 8am, she called me that she would not be able to come again and promised to come with her children on Friday. “Around 8pm that Sunday, her husband called me that she had been vomiting since morning and I told him to take her to the nearest hospital. He later called me and said it was a poison she took. I told him to bring her. By the time he brought her, she was dead. We took her to a hospital and the doctor said she had died. “He went to the Aguda Police Station to report that a girl visited him from South Africa, took poison and died in his house.”
The mother urged the police to investigate the matter in order to give justice to the family. Priscillia’s older sister, Mrs. Emenike Dorcas, said Ajimowu had convinced her sister to come to Nigeria under the pretext that he would open a chemist’s shop for her.
She added: “I reported the incident to the police at Satellite Town and Aguda divisions. Policemen at Aguda were surprised when they eventually knew the truth of the matter,”. Priscilla’s uncle, Francis Ayobo, said the suspect was not remorseful after his wife’s death.
He said: “It is so surprising that the wife was dying and the husband started videoing her. The videos were more than 40 minutes. He sent it to Priscillia’s sister in South Africa. By that time he would have rushed her to a hospital for treatment. “I noticed that about three other guys were in the background of one of the video because somebody was giving her water and she was foaming in the mouth. Those things should be questioned. He was handed over to SDCI on Wednesday.” The Lagos State Police spokesperson, DSP Joe Offor, said the Aguda Police Station arrested the husband and have handed him over to the Satellite Town Police Division. Follow this simple steps below to add Hibernate mode to your windows 8 and 8.1: Step 1: In your system tray, click the battery icon and select More power options from the panel that pops up.
Step 2: In the power options window, select either Choose what closing the lid does or Choose what the power button does from the left hand side of the panel.
Step 3: In the next window, click the blue text that says Change settings that are currently unavailable
Step 4: At the bottom of the windows, a new set of options will become available. Check the box next to Hibernate and click Save changes.
And that's all. The Hibernation will now show up in the shutdown options.

Politics › Re: EFCC To Summon Okonjo-Iweala Over Arms Deal by tomholly: 9:49am On Dec 11, 2015 |
All dis na political witch hunting of the opponents oooooooooooooooooooo OnankpaBa: Indications emerged last night that the Federal Government would extend its dragnet towards apprehending and prosecuting more individuals and groups which allegedly helped themselves with huge funds meant for the acquisition of arms for the armed forces, leaving the soldiers to fight with bare hands.
Meanwhile, the war of words between Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State and former Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala continued, yesterday, as the governor alleged that the former minister facilitated looting of funds by officials of the past admiistration.
Already, operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission probing how funds meant for arms were diverted and stolen by top politicians, have stumbled on fresh evidence that senior officials of the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank of Nigeria were actively involved in the transfer of funds to the suspects.
The operatives are upset that rather than help to protect the fortunes of the country, the said officials aided and abetted politicians to bolt away with the nation’s scarce resources.
The agency also discovered that most of the records which the Office of the National Security Adviser, ONSA, used in collecting the huge sums of public funds from the relevant government agencies and paying the sludge funds to the politicians, were not kept in the office of the embattled NSA.
It was learnt last night that EFCC operatives were set to summon the former Minister of Finance & Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Dr. Ngozi Okojo-Iweala and some top officials of the CBN to shed more light on what they know about the arms budget said to have been diverted by bigwigs of one of the political parties.
Also to be invited based on evidence of disbursement from the apex bank, are some serving and retired top officials of the CBN who helped in the disbursement of the arms cash to the beneficiaries.
Vanguard learnt that the decision to summon the former minister and the apex bank officials followed the discovery that the bank played an active part in wiring various sums of money to persons and institutions at home and abroad without paying attention to due process.
It was the gamut of transaction documents from the CBN that has assisted them to trace and arrest the high profile politicians and their cronies, who benefitted from the public funds meant for arms.
A source said: “It is clear from our discovery that some money taken from the Abacha loot was used to secure some arms and fight insurgency but it is also clear that a larger part of the money was diverted and nobody raised an eyebrow.
“We want these people to come and give us further clarifications on why they released the money and who got what and why.”
It was gathered that documents at the CBN have established that the $15 million cash which the office of the NSA ferried for the purchase of arms and was seized by the South African Government was part of the Abacha loot. The country is yet to refund the cash to Nigeria.
It was also learnt that part of the Abacha loot was used to secure the services of mercenaries and guerrillas from some countries to assist in re-taking 22 Nigerian territories in the North-East from Boko Haram.
The government at the time had engaged some of the foreign fighters to train troops in anti-terrorism warfare, intelligence gathering and counter terrorism which enabled them recover the lost territories from the insurgents. In spite of that, it never admitted using any of them for any of its operations.
Already, eight of the suspects have been charged with stealing, money laundering and breach of the Public Procurement Act, while none of them is yet to be released even on bail.
Okonjo-Iweala helped Jonathan loot stolen funds, Oshiomhole insists
However, Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State yesterday continued his verbal assault on former Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, as the governor alleged that the ex-minister only helped the past administration to loot funds.
Oshiomhole who was the guest speaker at a dialogue session that was co-organised by the National Human Rights Commission, NHRC, and the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, in Abuja yesterday to commemorate the International Human Rights Day, urged President Muhammadu Buhari not to spare the former Minister who he branded “Ali Baba”.
The Edo State governor spoke on a topic entitled “Towards Advancing the Right to Social Security Protection in Nigeria”.
Speaking to journalists at the end of his presentation, Oshiomhole, maintained that Okonjo-Iweala has serious questions to answer with regards to what happened to looted funds that were recovered from former military dictator, General Sani Abacha.
He said it was not enough for the former minister to “sit there in Washington”, and say that she “transferred part of the money recovered from Abacha to Dasuki for security purpose”.
“All I am just saying is that we are in a constitutional democracy. We are not under an informal arrangement. When you listen to all the narratives, all the disclosures and defence, you will realise that the Federal Government needs to prosecute everybody, not to exempt anyone.
“For example I have read in the newspapers and online, the former Minister of Finance and the Coordinating Minister of the Economy saying that she transferred part of the money recovered from Abacha to Dasuki for security purposes.
“Now, the first question the media should ask is, even under conditions of war, money must be appropriated. The National Assembly, I recall very well, when Aminu Tambuwal was Speaker of the House of Representatives, they reconvened on Sunday in order to attend to an urgent matter submitted by the President. So, the Constitution is very clear.
“Money was looted and foreign countries helped us recover that money and a minister assisted in ensuring that that money is re-looted again. And she is there in Washington and you are here languishing. I am saying that she also must be brought to justice”, the Edo governor said.
Okonjo-Iweala should apologise to Nigerians—SERAP
Meanwhile, Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has asked former Minister of Finance Ngozi Okonjo Iweala to “apologise to Nigerians for claiming recently that recovered Abacha loot was transparently spent while she knew that $322m (about N63billion) recovered Abacha funds were inappropriately released to finance the fight against Boko Haram.”
SERAP’s statement yesterday followed Mrs Okonjo-Iweala’s statement that she released about $322m to the former National Security Adviser Sambo Dasuki for military operations.
In a statement by SERAP executive director Adetokunbo Mumuni the organisation said: “The truth about the spending of Abacha loot is now coming out, and it is clear that Mrs Okonjo-Iweala was wrong to accuse SERAP of bias while she knew that we are simply seeking truth, justice and accountability on the spending of recovered Abacha loot.”
“Mrs Okonjo-Iweala’s approach of ‘no answers, no apology’ on how Abacha loot was spent is doing her reputation more harm than good. We hope that she will take cue from the World Bank (her former employer) when it defined ‘accountability and probity’ as knowing what task has been set, accepting to do it, and going about it with a sense of probity. Probity implying the willingness to self-disclose such information to which a specific stakeholder group has a right as well as tolerance of the scrutiny of such a stakeholder group on information to which they have a right,” the organisation said.
It will be recalled that the former Minister of Finance, had on Wednesday, disclosed that she transferred $322m (N64.148bn) from the looted funds recovered from Abacha to the Office of the National Security Adviser, NSA, to aid military operations in the North-East.
I secured ex-President’s approval — Okonjo-Iweala
In a statement by her Media Adviser, Mr. Paul Nwabuikwu, Dr. Okonjo-Iweala, insisted that she secured the approval of ex-President Jonathan before the fund was transferred. She stressed that the approval followed the recommendation of a committee set-up by former President Jonathan to advise the administration on the way forward.
The ex-Minister explained that based on recommendation of the committee, she personally requested that part of the recovered funds be used for security operations while the rest be channelled to developmental purposes.
She said her decision to release the funds to the ONSA, was sequel to accusations that she was starving the military of funds to prosecute war on terrorism.
Okonjo-Iweala specifically accused Oshiomhole “and other powerful and corrupt interests”, of sponsoring a campaign of falsehood against her.
“To achieve their evil propaganda objective of tarnishing her name, these evil elements have distorted the contents of a memo, dated January 20, 2015, in which the former Minister of Finance, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, responded to a request by the former National Security Adviser, Col. Ibrahim Dasuki (retired), for funds to prosecute the terror war against Boko Haram.
“The central responsibility of the Minister of Finance is to find sources of funding for the financing of approved national priorities such as security, job creation and infrastructure.”

Wasted Destiny. Na so they fool d Bk to death.BH wasting lives jonhemma11: Nigerian Troops Kill More Boko Haram Members, Rescue 210 Hostages
Nigerian troops on Wednesday killed 5 Boko Haram terrorists and rescued 210 civilians held captive by the terrorist group. This was revealed by the acting Director of Army Public Relations, Colonel S.K. Usman.
According to him,the insurgents were killed at Furkati village, which is located in Geidam a Local Government Area (LGA) of Yobe State while the rescue of the 210 civilians was due to an information received by soldiers that the terrorists were holding hostage the inhabitants of the villages of Ejilije, Bulagaije-lari, Bulagaije-Adamde, and Ajiri.Speaking further,he said the terrorists fled these villages once they learnt the Nigerian military was advancing upon them.
The rescued citizens were mainly women, children, and the elderly and have since been transferred to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps. According to Colonel Usman, the insurgents planned using the civilians as “human shields” in the event of a military offensive against them.
4 Dane guns, 4 loaded magazines of G3 riflesan unknown quantity of 7.62mm ammunition,1 Machine Gun barrel, 4 empty canisters of Mortar bombs, a bandolier, and 4 AK-47 rifles were recovered from the insurgents during the operations.

Raymond Dokpesi u better decamp to APC now and Beg Asiwaju so they can pulse this Case oooooooo. MY Opinion ooooooo Johnnyessence: Justice Gabriel Kolawole has deferred ruling in the bail application filed by media mogul, Chief Raymond Dokpesi who is being tried by the Federal Government on six count charges of violation of Public Procurement laws and money laundering.
After listening to Mike Ozekhome, counsel for Dokpesi and Rotimi Jacobs, counsel for the Federal Government on why the media mogul should or should not be granted bail, the Judge adjourned ruling till noon on Monday, 14 December.
He however ordered that Dokpesi should be returned to EFCC custody. http://www.pmnewsnigeria.com/2015/12/10/dokpesi-returns-to-detention-as-court-defers-bail-ruling/ More to follow… |
Romance › Re: 16 Places To Meet A Poor Husband In Lagos by tomholly: 3:33pm On Dec 10, 2015 |
TTrashhhhhhhhhh gist4kidsblog: After carrying out lots of deep research, these are places you would never find Dangote’s son cousin brother-in-law. When the chair-lady of Nigerian single girls says don’t be found in these places, sisters, don’t! 1. Career fairs All the attendees are broke and are looking for a job except the host and the host is usually married! 2. Oshodi Under Bridge Can any good thing come out of this place? Any good thing? 3. Sabo Yaba sigh 4. Ozone Yaba Chances are pretty slim. Just Unilag boys roaming around in carrot jeans and palm slippers. Don’t waste your time abeg. 5. Computer Village You might lose a Bosom or another body part in the process of trying to find a man here. 6. ICM Is it just me or does ICM seem like a place to meet a boyfriend but not a husband? Too many kidults. I stand to be corrected though. 7. Markets Except you are a lesbian. 8. Names of places in Lagos that contains the word ‘bridge’ in it. 9. All the bus stops in the mainland. In fact, once you descend 3MB towards the mainland axis. Don’t reply any stranger that says, ‘excuse me’. 10. Motor parks where Lagos to Abuja is N2, 300. 11. MTN centres. The people that frequent here are people that complain over the slightest things. E.g “I loaded N100 in my phone last night and N2 was gone by morning! I am not leaving this office until you return my money back.” Don’t let that sort of man put you inside house oh. 12. Job interviews/reality show auditions. This is a gamble. You are free to give him your number but don’t reply that sms until he has successfully scaled through, the reality show has ended and he is declared winner. For job interviews, only if he gets the job. Don’t worry you are not a gold digger. Just a woman who knows what she wants. 13. BRT buses Have you noticed everybody always looks sad in BRT buses? Maybe it’s because they are thinking of their 0.28 account balance. Once you get in, HEADSET ON!
14. Justrite Supermarket Justrite prides itself in offering unbeatable prices of good. Any man found shopping here is looking for the cheapest alternative so therefore, that sort of man will give you N270 to cook soup. 15. 2go When you read cases of people meeting their husbands on social networks and you take a decision to try your luck on 2go, you are on your own. 16. Eco Bank Is it just me or is there a stereotype that surrounds bankers in Eco Bank. It’s one thing to find a rich husband, it’s another thing to pray he’s not a stingy rich husband or you’ll wish you married yourself.
Don’t forget to mention the places that you feel should make the list below

Free4man: 5 major reason why you need to read non- fictional books A lot of people assume that being successful in life is directly related to course and jobs related books. People begin to neglect the fact that non-fictional books will contribute as much as any kind of books will do. Among man’s greatest discovery is his ability to put down the reality of life into books, to share knowledge and experience to people out there by guiding their life. Non fictional books can bring up the spirit of creativity in individuals, since most fictional books always drive the readers towards something new and this will definitely lead to creativity in individuals. Human can easily be inspired by books that goes into details about how and why things are made. 5 Manuals that guides: non fictional books is a source of manual that guides. Politics › Re: Lagos Shuts 53 Churches, Mosques by tomholly: 6:41am On Dec 10, 2015 |
follow d rules now RICHL0RD: The Lagos State Government has shut down no fewer than 53 churches, mosques and hotels across the state over noise pollution and other environmental offences. Some of the sealed worship centres were accused of converting residential apartments to places of worship, which according to the government has been constituting nuisance to other residents. The General Manager, Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency, LASEPA, Adebola Shabi, after the exercise, said the agency had been inundated with complaints from residents and neighbours of the shut facilities. He said, “In recent times, most of the petitions kept coming to us. It was as if we are not working at all. That was why we shut the facilities.” Shabi explained that some of the affected facilities had been served abatement notices before the eventual closure, adding that the growing rate of establishment of worship centres called for serious regulations, especially in the areas of noise generated across the state. He said some of the noise-making worship centres were usually makeshift structures. Shabi said, “You cannot have makeshift structures and say you want to be conducting services or vigils there. Definitely, you will be disturbing your neighbours. So, the government won’t allow the use of makeshift structures as a church or mosque. “Nobody is allowed to make a noise above 55 decibel during the day in residential areas and only 45 decibel is allowed in such areas at night. In industrial areas, 90 decibel of noise level is allowed during the day, while the noise rate must not exceed 80 decibel at night.” He, however, observed that the compliance level was increasing, saying more residents had understood the effect of noise polution, while some religious houses had complied with the noise pollution regulations. The LASEPA boss explained that the hotels were shut for failing to conduct and submit Environmental Impact Assessment report. Shabi added that the state government would not condone improper disposal of sewage, saying the usage of old latrines was unacceptable. |
