Two weeks ago, rumors began to circulate that James Bond producers were considering Elba for the role of 007, but that won't be happening.
Speaking with Good Morning Britain at the premiere of his new movie Yardie in London, when asked: “Do you like it shaken or stirred?”
The 45-year-old star made viewers laugh when he replied: “Stir fried, actually.” As he tried to walk away, their reporter quickly added: “Are we talking to the next James Bond?” "No," Elba replied.
This comes after the official James Bond Twitter account announced that Danny Boyle has resigned as the director and said: “ Michael G. Wilson , Barbara Broccoli and Daniel Craig today announced that due to creative differences Danny Boyle has decided to no longer direct Bond 25.”

A man in Winterveldt, South Africa appeared in the Ga-Rankuwa Magistrate’s court on Tuesday, August 14, for allegedly molesting his neighbour’s pregnant goat.
The suspect who is 33-years-old would remain in custody until his next court appearance at a date still to be determined, according to police spokesperson Captain Samuel Sebola.
He was arrested on charges of bestiality on Friday morning after he allegedly raped the female goat the previous evening.

His neighbour, and owner of the goat, Knowledge Khumalo said he heard the goat making strange noises around 20:00 on the evening in question.
When he woke up the next morning, he went to check in on the kraal and found the goat was missing.
“I went around the community looking for the goat without any success,” said Khumalo. "Later when I returned home, I found the goat was back. However, it looked unwell.”
As he was examining the goat, a man approached Khumalo and asked whether he was the goat’s owner.
“He then told me that he had been at the suspect’s shack that morning and had found the goat in his bed,” said Khumalo.

Community members, including CPF members, later converged at the suspect’s shack where they confronted him.
The man is said to be bricklayer by profession and was reportedly paid R4 500 earlier on the day of the alleged rape for work.

Khumalo said he was shattered to see the raped goat in such a sad state.
“I felt I should have done something to protect the goat,” he said.
The goat has been taken in by the SPCA for medical treatment.
SPCA inspector Mishack Matlou said the incident was the “highest form of animal cruelty he has experienced”.
“As the SPCA, we want to call on the judiciary to take tough action against cases of cruelty against animals”

A Twitter user identified as Obi Bright (@obibc), has taken to the social media platform to share photos of the latest invention of engineers in the commercial city of Aba, Abia state.

According to the images which are making the rounds online, the newly manufactured tricycle a.k.a Keke Napep which is currently being tested on the streets, doesn't use fuel or oil and have zero-carbon emission. It is electrically driven.

The identity of the local manufacturer and more details of the latest product were not ascertained by TORI News as at the time of filing this report, but many online users are applauding the efforts and have also called on the federal government to invest in the invention.

Jones Abiri, the Nigerian journalist detained for over two years has been released. He was released on Wednesday evening after he met his bail conditions
Abiri was detained by the State Security Service for two years without trial over allegations he was linked to armed militancy in the Niger Delta. Despite local and international pressure, Nigerian officials claimed Abiri is not a journalist and tried to justify his illegal detention.
Abiri, publisher and editor-in-chief of Weekly Source Newspaper was eventually granted bail by an Abuja court after he was charged to court following public outcry. The court last week reviewed his bail conditions which were eventually met on Wednesday evening.
His lawyer, Samuel Ogala, also told Premium Times his client’s trial continues at the Abuja magistrate court in Zone 2, Wuse on Thursday.

The map below shows the world according to prevalence of cocaine use as a percentage of the population, according to the most recent statistics available on the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime website. Those countries or territories that appear in darker colours consume the most cocaine, those in lighter colours consume the least (there is no data available for those nations in grey). The data corresponds to a variety of reporting years, so does not offer a perfect comparison, but gives a good indication of the nations that have the biggest appetite for cocaine.


Britain is among the world's biggest users of the drug. The figure given for the UK of 2.25 per cent refers to consumption in England and Wales by those aged 16-59, as recorded in the 2015/16 Crime Survey for England and Wales. Government sources report that cocaine use is slightly higher in Scotland - around 2.34 per cent as of 2014/15, while in Northern Ireland it's lower - 1.8 per cent.
Topping the table is Albania. Public health research from 2014 estimates that 2.5 per cent of its population aged between 16 and 64 use the drug.
Other countries in the top 10 include the US, Spain, Australia and Netherlands, along with a couple of South American nations: Chile and Uruguay.

Notorious assassins have ended the life of a man after they ambushed him and shot him at close range.

Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State was left in a state of commotion on Monday evening as another man was killed by unidentified gunmen in broad daylight.

The sad incident came barely three days after a close ally of former Gov. Segun Oni, Mr. Bunmi Ojo was assassinated in the capital.

The man was shot at a junction close to the end of the newly constructed overhead bridge at the Okesa/Ojumose Area of the ancient town at about 5:30pm.

According to the witnesses, the victim, who was said to be a passenger on a commercial motorcycle, popularly called Okada, was allegedly pursued to the area where he was later killed by his assailants.

It was gathered the killers who also came to the scene on another Okada, ordered the operator of the commercial motorcycle conveying the victim to stop at the spot where he was killed and sped-off immediately they achieved their aim.

However, the assailants spared the operator of the Okada.

The body of the shot passenger had since been moved to an undisclosed hospital by sympathisers who felt he could still survive, as he bled profusely.

The incident led to sudden closure of many shops in and around the Bisi Market located close to the area by their owners, even as many residents who either witnessed or got wind of the killing hurriedly left for their homes.

Nigerian Twitter user Ore decided to take action after a Taxify driver bragged to him about sexually assaulting a female passenger who was drunk while in his cab.


Taxify has now reportedly removed the driver from their platform and would hopefully take further meaningful action.

A man has been shot dead in Anambra state by men alleged to be police officers.

According to Ngini Ebelechukwu, the Metro Patrol Police shot the young man while trying to intimidate his driver to bribe them. Unfortunately, the gunshot was fatal and the officers fled when they saw that the man had been killed.

The incident reportedly happened at Agulu, before the Unizik campus in Anambra state.

Before my very eyes the Metro Patrol Police shot this guy in a bid to intimidate his driver into parting way with bribe,they previously held me to obtain from me. They threw away my papers as they flee the scene.

Alex Iwobi signed a new long-term deal at Arsenal, the Premier League club announced on Friday. Arsenal did not specify the length of the deal for the 22-year-old Nigeria international, who came through the ranks with the Gunners, but reports said it would run until 2023. Midfielder Iwobi scored three goals in 26 league games under the now-departed Arsene Wenger last season.

“It’s always been my childhood dream to represent Arsenal,” he told Arsenal Player.

“To get an extended contract is an amazing feeling and I hope I’m doing the Arsenal family proud, as well as my family.”

Iwobi, the nephew of Nigerian football legend Jay-Jay Okocha, played in three of his country’s matches at the World Cup in Russia.

A petrol tanker has this morning lost control and rammed into a school in Edo State.

The driver of petrol tanker lost control of his truck and rammed into a school in Ekpoma along Ekpoma-Abuja Express Way.
Thankfully no one was in the building when the accident happened as the school was closed for the weekend. The truck however destroyed an SUV that was parked in front of the school.

This accident comes few weeks after a petrol tanker exploded at Otedola bridge in Lagos killing over 10 persons and destroying over 50 cars.

There was mild confusion, yesterday, at a Bayelsa High Court in Yenagoa, after a former Security Adviser to ex-Gov. Timipre Sylva, being tried for alleged rape, arrived on a stretcher.

Perekeme Richard Kpodo had been accused of molesting and detaining one Teke Blessing on June 20, at his hostel. On July 27, he was arraigned and remanded in prison custody till Aug. 10 for ruling on his bail application. .



However, he arrived court, yesterday, on a stretcher. The judge, on sighting him in an ambulance, ordered the prison officials to return him to the Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa where he had been receiving treatment.

The case later continued in his absence and he was denied bail. Justice E. Eradiri, said that the bail application, based on medical grounds, did not indicate that the acused was not getting adequate medical attention from prison.

He noted that he denied him bail based on the nature of the charge which, on conviction, attracts life imprisonment. He then adjourned the case to Sept. 21, for commencement of trial.

Barring any last minute change, the operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, are set to arrest some senior staff of the Joint Matriculations Board, JAMB, who have been fingered in the disappearance of over N8 billion revenue.
The examination body is said to have failed to remit revenue in excess of N8billion to the federal government between 2010 and 2015. The amount include unremitted Value Added Tax and Withholding Tax.
It would be recalled that, following the surprise remittance of N7.8billion to the government by the Ishaq Oloyede led management of the examination body, the federal government, working on the suspicion that the previous management had defrauded the federation of billions in unremitted revenue, ordered a forensic audit of the accounts of JAMB from 2010 to 2015.
EFCC sources said that the report of the forensic audit committee was turned in some months ago and subsequently forwarded to the EFCC by the minister of finance, Kemi Adeaosun, for criminal investigation.
The commission then set up a crack investigative panel to review the report and take further investigative steps to bring the indicted culprits to book. The EFCC source further disclosed that the panel has taken the report through a fine tooth comb.
“We are looking at a number of accounts with suspicious inflow and outflow. From the detailed analyses of the accounts, we have identified a few officers that will help our investigation because funds have been traced to their accounts. Very soon, we will be inviting them for questioning.
“Among the officers that we may invite are a serving director and a retired director of the examination body,” the source said.
Other likely staff to be arraigned in court any moment from now include an official based in Makurdi, Philomina Chieshe, who earlier, claimed that a snake swallowed N36 million, money that was part of the proceeds of the sale of scratch cards.
Chieshe, who was arrested months ago, allegedly told interrogators that the money was collected in installments from her by her coordinator, Samuel Umoru.
She claimed that the coordinator usually asked her to withdraw proceeds of the sale of the cards from her account in two banks.
