Yes I quite agree that Yorubas have English names but they hardly bare them as first names. Your grandparents will never even reckon with your English name, no matter how sweet it sounds and no matter how sophisticated they are. Infact, they will take it to the next level by calling you by your unique "oroki" name, which is a special name that is peculiar for eulogising you as a person.

Religion and westernisation or arabicanisation should never make us to lose our identity and be proud of heritage. If you like bear Roseleen or Cassandra or Maureen, and be speaking with English with your nose, you will never be seen as a proper English man, as long as you are black.

Likewise, you can recite the quran in Arabic even in your dreams, it will never make Arabs not to see you as their subjects.

Just be proud of your identity and rep it to blazes.

A lot of Yoruba bear foreign surnames and that is despicable...This you won't find in Igbo land. We can bear first name which is Christian but we can't bear surnames like Tiwa Savage or Bankole Wellington or Idowu Martin's

Prof. Musa Yakubu of University of Ilorin has said that having sex in the early morning lowers blood pressure and reduces risks of heart attack. Yakubu of the Department of Biochemistry made the assertion in a paper, “Knocking Down the Barriers to Four O’Clock Activities and Reproductive Inadequacies”, presented at the 163rd Inaugural lecture of the university on Friday.
He said that having sexual intercourse, three to four times a week, was good for love life. “Research has shown that sex boosts immune system by stimulating the body’s first line of defence and production of immunoglobulin A (IgA), against cold and fever,” he said. immunoglobulin A is one of the most common antibodies in the body system.

Antibodies are proteins made by the immune system to fight bacteria, viruses, and toxins. Yakubu said that sex also regulates menstruation in women by influencing the levels of lutenizing hormones that controls menstrual period and promote better sleep. According to him, the act of sexual intercourse also release the feel-good chemical, known as oxytocin, which enhances closeness with one’s partner and makes people feel happier for a longer period of time.

“Lovemaking of about 20 minutes reduces 150 calories,” he said. The professor of Biochemistry postulated that sex is the most powerful creative force given to human by God for pleasure and deep companionship.

Yakubu, however, noted that any marriage in which the man or woman could not enjoy sexual intercourse or satisfy their partner in bed was a dead marriage. He said that lack of sexual satisfaction had led to the collapse of many marriages in Nigeria, and urged couples to seek for solutions to the problem. “Sexual and reproductive dysfunctions are common among men and women in Nigeria, which necessitates regular screening and check-ups,” he said. He also said that traditional medicines had been authenticated to cure sexual dysfunctions

If I have the opportunity to govern Anambra State, for example, I am 120% certain that I will make such a mark that even the best Anambra State governor will be envious of my achievements. The reason is simple: Anambra State towns and villages have similar values in life. When you start a policy that agrees with their view, most people will support you. I will not be afraid of taking radical actions that will move the state forward for fear of not offending some sections. If Anambra were an independent nation, it would be easy to propel it to greatness because the people love excellence and have similar views of life.

This is true of many other states in Nigeria.

But if I get the opportunity to govern Nigeria, I cannot guarantee if I will excel despite all my hard work and good intentions. The reason is simple. With the exception of the gay issue, which Nigerians from North and South as well as Christians and Muslims agree on, there is no other issue Nigerians agree upon. If, for example, I push for restructuring, one section of the country will criticise me, while the other part will hail me. If I push for quota system, one part will hail me, while the other will demonise me. If I push for compulsory education or push for punishment for parents who refuse their children to go to school, one part will ask for my head on a platter, while the other part will applaud me. If I push for religion to be divorced from governance, one section will hail me while the other will condemn me.

Any appointment I make will be x-rayed, dissected and interpreted as pro-East, or pro-South or pro-Christianity or an attempt to please the North or Muslims so that they will like me.

Any action I take to move the country forward and pull it out of mediocrity and retrogression will be resisted by one part of the nation and hailed by the other part. Riots will break out and people will be killed so as to ensure that such policies are not implemented.

If you want peace to reign, you just let the status quo remain. And allowing the status quo to remain is equal to allowing the mediocrity, backwardness, and decay to continue.

So anybody hoping that a leader will emerge one day who will transform Nigeria is living in a fool’s paradise.

Structured as it is today, Nigeria can NEVER progress, no matter the good intentions and efforts of any leader. It is not lack of optimism or a curse but simple reality.

The North and the South have opposite and contrastive values on all issues in life except the gay issue.

Corruption is a big problem in Nigeria but it is not the most critical issue. Interestingly, something is fuelling the corruption as well as the non-patriotism, mediocrity, stagnation, backwardness, laziness, decay, intolerance, constant killings and lack of value for human lives bedevilling the nation. If you want to drastically reduce corruption, you must first kill why is causing it. If we don’t solve the fundamental problem causing the problems, we will continue hoping and praying in vain for some ruler to emerge one day and transform the nation.

In the majority of cases, start-up success or failure is all about knowing the both the how and the why of taking action, and always being clear about which steps to take next.

To help this process, here are 10 essential things you need to know about running a successful business. Use it as a checklist to make sure your thinking and your business plan are on the right track, or if you need to get more information, strategic education or clarity for yourself on your overall vision, your market, or your product or service.

Offer what people want to buy, not just what you want to sell. Too often, people jump into a business built around a product or service they think will be successful, rather than one that is already proven to have a market.What do I mean?
Instead of creating and selling a new sports shoe with the latest trendy design and materials, you’d be much better off from a business perspective to focus on shoe category generally (a proven category because which people buy shoes every day) and then focus more specifically on the niche of high performance sports shoes, (which you may even sell in a section of a shoe retail outlet). In those days, between 1995 and 2005, it was often a title decider. Everything was completely different about Sunday’s game at Emirates Stadium, and it summed up where both teams are at right now.
It was a match between the teams in fifth and sixth place in the Premier League but it felt more like it was ninth versus 10th, in one of those dead rubbers you get at the end of the season.

Yes, Arsenal won, to end United’s long unbeaten run, but nobody really cared – including United manager Jose Mourinho.

It was the first time Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has beaten him in a competitive game, at the 16th attempt and after 13 years of trying.

But watching Mourinho afterwards, it was probably the first time in about six months that I have seen him relaxed and smiling.

It was a game that was clearly a nuisance for him, sandwiched between the two legs of United’s Europa League semi-final against Celta Vigo that he has made it obvious is his priority.

So, for United, Sunday was just a case of survival – to get off that pitch without getting any more injuries – or at least that was how it looked.

Arsenal were clearly short of confidence, and in a different way they were looking to survive the game too.

They eventually worked out that United were not at full strength and they might be able to win, but for most of the first half they looked nervous, as if they were thinking ‘let’s not lose and have more fans protests after the game’.

The Gunners might have got the three points but the way they did it did not make any sort of statement about how strong they are.

Joy Udo, a teacher, on Wednesday told a Jikwoyi Customary Court, Abuja, that she left her matrimonial home because her husband asked her to choose between the marriage and her job.

Joy, who filed a petition seeking dissolution of the marriage, said her husband Sammul Udo, asked her to resign from her job.

“The major disagreement we had before I left his house was that he asked me to quit my job because his mother never worked, so his wife must not work.
“I refused. I told him that I won’t quit my job because if I do, I will be in a tight corner.

“He does not have enough money to cater for the family, even the capital that he used in starting his business, I gave it to him,” she said.
Joy also told the court that her husband does not bear the entire responsibility of catering for the family, adding that her husband faked his identity to lure her to marry him.
“Before our marriage, my husband claimed to be a pastor, but after the marriage, he stopped going to church and never wanted to pray with the family,” she said.
She alleged that her husband was promiscuous.

“I always see lots of love text messages on my husband’s phone. When I called his lover, the lady will say my husband never told her that he was married.
“When the lady told my husband that I called her, he made trouble with me and said that the marriage between us has ended,” she said.

Joy urged the court to dissolve the marriage and grant her the custody of the children.

The respondent, Udo, a businessman, was not in court.
The judge, Everyman Eleanya, adjourned the case until May 27 for defence.

If truly you're from Niger Delta, what have you gained with all the Oil being taken from your devastated land? I live in Abuja and have seen all the development here and still going on from the money generated from Oil sales, oil from Niger delta but the last time I visited Bayelsa States in 2015 December I weep for the whole of Niger Delta.. that state is too rich with oil to that poor.

Thing is no body is begging you to be a Biafran and you're not speaking for most of our brothers in the South South who have Biafra in the heart.. there will be an opportunity for you guys to decide which side of the devide you want to join. as you know very well the Igbos don't need your oil to excel in any area of their life, the oil has not been the back bone of our success, production, buying and selling (Trade) is.

On Saturday, 1st of April 2017, Nigerian DSTV users were hit with a shocking announcement revealing the increase in subscription charges of every DSTV package by five percent with effect from 1st May 2017.

This marks the fifth time DSTV is increasing its subscription fee in Nigeria since its inception in 2009. From the information made available, the price of DSTV Premium has increased by 55 percent from N9,000 which it charged in 2009 to N13,980 in 2017 while that of DSTV Access has increased by 26 percent since 2009.

In defending this price increase in such a time of economic hardship, DSTV Nigeria released a statement blaming the increase on inflation and Forex restriction. However, it is no news that Forex restriction has been the problem of almost every company in Nigeria that does business using foreign currency.

“We announced last year that we would do everything possible to hold the price barring any extreme factors. Over the years, MultiChoice Africa Limited, which offers video entertainment services in Africa through its digital satellite television service, DSTV, has been under constant attack by Nigerians either over subscription fees or content, and this year is not an exception. Most Nigerians feel robbed by this pay TV and its activities in the country due to its monopoly on certain programmes such as the English Premiership League rights. Apart from the price increase, they are currently under attack on social media for trying to remove a renowned Gospel TV station, Kingdom Africa, a channel that offers family friendly content with a very high moral benefits while they have decided to leave the Big Brother Naija (BB9ja) channel, which some Nigerians claim has little or no moral benefits.

In 2016, the Premier League announced that it had closed a deal valid for the 2016/17 and 2018/19 seasons with Econet Media, owned by a Zimbabwean tycoon, Strive Masiyiwa. Ventures Africa questioned if this was the end of DSTV but over a year later DSTV seems to remain the king of the park in Africa.

Following this recent announcement on price increase, many Nigerians have been calling for the boycott of DSTV while others have decided that they are going to pack up their DSTV decoders and begin a search for other pay TV services currently running in the country. This brings the question of if Nigerians can really do without DSTV.

Can Nigerians do without DSTV?

While scanning through Twitter which has recently become an even more powerful uniting tool, I stumbled across a tweet which suggested that Nigerians can actually put away their cable networks and make use of unlimited internet data bundles to watch whatever station they wished to watch or must have missed.

But how true can this be in Nigeria looking at the fact that Internet access in the country is very expensive? It could become a reality in Nigeria if Internet Service Providers (ISPs) decide to drop the price of their unlimited data bundles in order to help cut cost for Nigerians. If this is possible, Nigerians would be able to save more; instead of spending so much on mobile data, all they have to do is pay for unlimited data bundles which they could also use on their phones, laptops and HDTVs. In this case, the subscriber will only pay for what he or she watches as opposed to paying for what they didn’t watch – something which has been one of the greatest concerns of Nigerians who call for pay as you use DSTV subscriptions.

This is also a call to the telecommunication companies in Nigeria to take advantage of the current situation as an opportunity to increase the number of Internet Service Providers that dropped in February this year. According to the latest data released by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Nigeria’s telecommunications networks lost 1,275,573 Internet users in February.

Even if some Nigerians claim to have ditched cable TV for the internet, we need to consider that once you ditch cable, your Internet connection will become the basic source of your media consumption, this means that you’ll need a very reliable Internet connection. And finding reliable Internet Service Providers can be quite the challenge.

But just in case any Nigerian decides to try this option he or she should make sure that their ISP supports super-high-speed bandwidth necessary for streaming high-definition and super-high-definition video. This is because, in some cases, you might need to upgrade your subscription to get a high bandwidth.

Been out of school for 7 years.. (on my 3rd job) I can tell u nobody dwells on the issue of grades past the interview stage, and many jobs do not go through that stage if they need what you got to offer.. There is a meeting and kaboom.. U have the job.. Credentials are submitted for just official reasons.

I was on my own some few days ago....I came out with 2.2 not that I wasn't intelligent but I didn't want to bribe any lecturer and didn't do that
