A creepy ultrasound photo that appears to show a 'demon' watching over an unborn baby has gone viral.

The image, posted by an anonymous Imgur user, has been viewed over a million times in two days as internet users offer their various interpretations of the eerie photo.

It shows a foetus, which appears to be around eight-to-10 weeks old, and what looks like a menacing face with a naked body outside the womb.
The user wrote: 'A friend's ultrasound. When you see it...' along with the photograph which was posted on New Year's Day.

The 'figure' seems to stretch from the top of the ultrasound to its base and includes a face with large black eyes and a horn-shaped mark on its head.

Hundreds of users volunteered their interpretation of the image, with many saying it looked like a 'demon'

Manshottothemoon was one of many people who spotted the 'demon on the right' of the baby

Jackbos had a different interpretation entirely, claiming the figure looked more like a Hindu goddess

Some users found the photo 'terrifying', with one saying they could see not one but two 'entities'
When hundreds took to the site asking for more information, the original poster was forced to give an update.

Luigivampa-over9000 later explained: 'Everything is fine now. The baby was premature by 2 months.

'They asked the tech who did the ultrasound what it was - they didn't really have an answer besides they haven't seen something like that before. Kinda an interesting story with a photo to go along.'
