Ninety-one persons have been sentenced to different prison terms for rape and defilement in Edo State out of 215 cases that were taken to court between 2010 and 2019, the president of Child Protection Network, Mrs Jennifer Ero has disclosed.

Mrs Ero, who spoke on Monday, at the graduation ceremony of over 100 trainees from Society for the Empowerment of Young Persons (SEYP), decried the high level of vulnerability of young persons in society, leading to rape and defilement of underage children.

The CPN President said that irregular migration and Human Trafficking are difficult and may be difficult to stop, but the sustained campaign would.

Two brothers identified as Otojareri Governor Lucky a.k.a Sam Lewis and Otojareri President Mayor a.k.a John Jacob Carison have been handed a 5 year jail sentence over a $788 scam.

Lucky and Mayor who were arraigned by the EFCC before Justice J. K. Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Port Harcourt, were found guilty of the one-count charge bordering on obtaining the sum of $788.00(USD) under false pretences.

The anti-graft agency's statement reads in full;

Justice J. K. Omotosho of the Federal High Court, Port Harcourt, has convicted and sentenced two brothers to five years imprisonment for obtaining money under false pretences.

The duo are Otojareri Governor Lucky (a.k.a Sam Lewis) and Otojareri President Mayor (a.k.a John Jacob Carison). Their offences run contrary to Section 1(1)(a) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006 and punishable under Section 1(3) of the same Act.

Cape Town's rail unit has reportedly been delayed after the body of a man was found hanging on a mashpole in Cape Town.

Residents woke up to find the body on a pole between Philippi train station and Nyanga Junction in Cape Town.

@Abramjee shared the photo, writing: "Body on mashpole between Phillipi train station and Ntanta junction Cape Town. Central line delayed."

It is not clear how he got up there but Twitter users speculate he's a cable thief who tried to cut the cable with the device seen on his hand.

The 42-year-old Pastor of Iglesia Pentecostal Principe De Paz church in Gaithersburg, Maryland, Octavio Cantarero has been arrested after trying to rape an underage girl.

The pervert Pastor reportedly offered the vulnerable underage girl a single bed in a private room in January before telling her they will be sleeping together.

After the child was able to resist Cantarero when she woke to see him trying to rape her, the US Pastor reportedly told her ‘that her demons had provoked him.’ He then said to have pleaded with the girl not to tell anyone about what had happened.

Cantarero turned himself in on Saturday September 21, after the police issued a warrant for his arrest earlier this month following the complaint made by the little girl in May. The Pastor who is being held without bail ahead of his next court appearance, has now been charged with a fourth degree sex attack as well as attempted second-degree rape of a minor.

A middle-aged man Mr. Sunday Olorunleke has been stabbed to death by yet to be identified persons in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital.

Tribune Online gathered that the deceased who was said to be a commercial motorcyclist, popularly called Okada was killed at his residence located in Aba area of the state capital.

Our correspondent learned that the father of two was alone in the house when the incident happened. His wife and children were said to have travelled to the village. They returned on Saturday morning to meet his corpse in the room.

A source who confirmed the killing said the incident might have happened between Thursday night and Saturday, adding the man was sighted in the neighbourhood on Thursday morning.

The source said, “the wife of the deceased put a call across to the some of the neighbours on Thursday when she could not reach her husband on phone and they informed her that they saw him that very day.

“We were shocked after the wife arrived yesterday (Saturday) morning and met the door closed and sought the assistance of people to break the door where she found her husband corpse on the floor lying in a pool of his own blood.”

Speaking with Tribune Online on the telephone, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Ekiti State, Caleb Ikechukwu confirmed the killing.

He revealed that investigation had commenced in a bid to arrest the perpetrators, calling on the people to go about their normal lawful activities.

The police spokesman advised residents of the state to monitor strange faces and movements within their neighbourhood and report to the police for immediate action.
