An official with the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) at the Yola International Airport (name withheld) is being interrogated by the police over the theft of $600 from two pilgrims travelling to Saudi Arabia through the airport.

It was gathered on Thursday that the officer, a woman, was found with the money when she was checked following an alarm by her two victims who each said that $300 was missing from their basic travelling allowance (BTA) after the female officer searched them for prohibited items prelude to their clearance for takeoff.

One of the airport security operatives, who spoke on condition of anonymity, disclosed that following the incident, which occurred on Monday, an in-house investigation was conducted on the female officer, following which the total $600 and another N1,500 was found in her artificial hair.


The airport security source said: “At the initial stage when she was interrogated, she pretended that she didn’t commit any theft on the intending pilgrims. She insisted that nothing like money was on her.

“But to the surprise of us all at the investigation room, the said monies were traced concealed in her hair covered with official barrette.”

The Yola Airport Manager, Adamu Sheilk, who spoke on the incident, said he had forwarded the case to FAAN’s corporate headquarters for a final decision.

The spokesman of the Adamawa State Police Command, DSP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, confirmed the development, saying that the FAAN officer in question was being interrogated by the Criminal Investigation Department (CUD).

A man who cheated on his former wife while they were married, has learnt in the most gruesome way, that hell hath no fury than a woman scorned.

According to reports, the man fell for the seduction of the former wife, who grabbed his penis, while his pants were down and cut it, along with the testicles with a scissors.Then she doused the genitals in acid and then flushed everything down the drain, leaving only one centimetre of penis for the man.

According to Mail Online, the 58 year-old Taiwanese woman told the petrified man:’If I can’t have it, no one else can’, before taking 40 sleeping pills in an apparent suicide attempt.

According to police, the attack happened in the couple’s home in the township of Hukou, which is in Taiwan’s north-western county of Hsinchu, on 24th July.

Reports say they had divorced less than a month ago but Mr Chen, jobless for two years, continued to live off his wife. Authorities with the local Xinhu Precinct said they received a call from a howling Mr Chen, 56, following the incident at 8:50pm local time. According to Taipei Times, the woman allegedly then threatened to douse the man with hydrochloric acid when he blockaded himself inside the bathroom and called for help, police said.

Xinhu Precinct deputy chief Kao Kai-long said: ‘While the victim had his pants down, the suspect used a pair of scissors to cut off the victim’s genitals.’ Arriving officers added Ms Lee was found unconscious in the home after she ingested some 40 sleeping pills in a bid to kill herself. Both she and her ex-husband were taken to National Taiwan University Hospital Zhudong Branch and are in stable condition.

Sixteen gang members have been jailed for more than 61 years for running Class A drugs through County Lines across the South East.

The following all pleaded guilty to two counts of conspiracy to supply Class A drugs (crack cocaine and heroin):

- Tife Orawusi, 20 (16.4.1999) of New Park Road, SW2 was jailed for three years and four months.
- Connell Bamgboye, 25 (21.6.1994) of New Park Road, SW2 was jailed for six years.
- Chris Thomas, 23 (15.12.1995) of Masey Mews, SW2 was jailed for four years and six months.
- Rhys Walcott-Holder, 23 (21.11.1995) of Vibart Gardens, SW2 was jailed for four years.
- Shemiah Bell, 27 (31.3.1992) of Tilson Gardens, SW2 was jailed for four years and eight months.
- David Mundle, 23 (11.6.1996) of Clarence Avenue, SW4 was jailed for five years.
- Kyle Milton, 18 (6.10.2000) of Tilson Gardens, SW2 was sentenced to two years imprisonment, suspended for two years.
- Ryeene Cowan, 24 (12.5.1995) of Fenton Close, SW9 was jailed for seven and a half years.
- Sadjo Diakite, 21 (11.2.1998) of Miranda Close, Coventry was jailed for three years and four months.
- Kayce Leigh, 20 (11.3.1999) of Cassell House, SW9 was sentenced to two years imprisonment, suspended for two years.

The above were all charged with one count of participating in an Organised Crime Group (OCG) which was left to lie on file

The following pleaded not guilty to two counts of conspiracy to supply Class A drugs (crack cocaine and heroin) and one count of participating in an Organised Crime Group (OCG) but were convicted following trial:

- Mohammed Jalloh, 20 (29.10.1998) of Forster Road, SW2 was jailed for four years and six months.
- Taylor Mackey, 24 (17.1.1995) of Sangley Road, SE6 was jailed for four years.
- Darnell Bailey-King, 21 (17.10.1997) of Challice Way, SW2 was jailed for three years and six months.
- Tevin Nugent, 23 (13.4.1996) of Valley Road, SW16 was jailed for four years and six months.
- Robert Allison, 20 (22.10.1998) of Clarence Avenue, SW4 was jailed for four years.
- Geoffrey Allen, 56 (27.12.1962) of no fixed abode was jailed for three years.

The group have been jailed as the result of a joint investigation between the Met’s Specialist Crime South and Kent Police’s Operation Raptor. Operation Raptor teams focus on disrupting and dismantling criminals linked to county lines, drugs, and the exploitation of vulnerable people.

Between August 2018 and November 2018 officers identified the gang were running five County Lines.

A mentally imbalanced man identified as Abdulkarim Mato, 27, hacked a toddler to death with a hoe in Dujah village of Miga local government area in Jigawa state.

According to Daily Trust, Mato went wild attacking any person in sight, when all the men of the village, were away in their farms.

The suspected madman attacked three other women who, in the process sustained various degrees of injuries.

The injured were rushed to General Hospital, Jahun in Jahun LGA, for immediate attention.

Spokesperson of the State Police Command, SP Audu Jinjiri, who confirmed the incident, said the suspect had since been take to Psychiatric Hospital in Kazaure, Kazaure LGA for medical attention.

“The suspect, ran mad, when all men were away to their farms. He attacked and killed one Idris Ibrahim, aged two years with a hoe. and also wounded three women – Halima Mato, 50, Rashina Rabiu, 23 and Mauluda Mohammed, three years old. He inflicted various injuries on them.

Spokesperson of the Kaduna State Police Command, DSP Yakubu Sabo has confirmed the arrest of one Aisha, who stabbed her husband, Yahaya Maiyaki twice in the stomach on Friday, after they had a misunderstanding in their home located at Sarduana Crescent.

It was gathered that the couple had quarreled the night before the incident. According to the victim’s brother, Ahmed Maiyaki, the woman had thrown boiling water at Maiyaki but he managed to dodge.

"Aisha was already waiting for her husband with boiled water when he woke up for prayers, she poured the water towards where he was but fortunately he was able to dodge, she then threw pots at him and when she saw that he also managed to dodge, she got a knife and stabbed him on both sides of his lower abdomen.” said Ahmed.

“It is rather shocking because they have been married for five years and they have one child, nothing in her character ever suggested she could be capable of such an act," he added.

The victim is presently receiving treatment at a private hospital in Kaduna.

DSP Yakubu Sabo said the suspect is in police custody and will be charged to court after investigation.

Romance Scam: 65-year-old Nigerian man arraigned for duping Swiss woman of $240, 700 with false promise of love and marriage

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Port Harcourt's Zonal Office on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 arraigned Sixty- five year old Igweneme Moses before Justice A. T Mohammed of the Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State on a four-count charge bordering on conspiracy and money laundering contrary to Section 18 and punishable under Section 15(2) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act, 2011 (As amended).

Specifically, Moses was docked for defrauding a Swiss, the sum of $240,700 (Two Hundred and Forty Thousand Seven Hundred American Dollars) though several criminal disguises of love and promise of marriage.

One of the count charges read: “That you, Igweneme Moses and Igweneme Nkiruka Blessing (now at large) between the 18th and 24th May, 2018 directly took possession of the sum of $38,000 (Thirty Eight Thousand US Dollars) which you knew or reasonably ought to have known is the proceeds of an unlawful act, to wit: obtaining money under false pretences from one Chantal Helene Meadery and thereby committed an offence contrary and punishable under Section 15(2) of the Money Laundering( Prohibition) Act, 2011( as amended)”.

He pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to him.

In view of his plea, Prosecuting Counsel, A. Osu, prayed the court to fix a date for commencement of trial. However, Counsel to the defendant, C.V Oforleta made an oral application for bail of his client to enable him prepare for his defence. The application was, however, turned down by the judge who ordered him to place a formal application for bail before the court.

Justice Mohammed ordered that the defendant’s case file be transferred to a vacation judge pending his formal bail application. He also ordered that he should be remanded in prison custody. .

Lateef Jakande, the former Governor of Lagos state clocked 90 years old today July 23rd.

Jakande became governor of Lagos State from 1979 to 1983 on the platform of the Unity Party of Nigeria, UPN. He was also the Minister of Works under the Sani Abacha military regime from 1993 to 1998.

Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, National leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu and former Governor of Ogun State, Chief Olusegun Osoba were amongst the dignitaries that graced his 90th birthday party which held at the Haven Event Centre, Ikeja area of Lagos.
