Must it be the exact same thing? Instances dont't have to follow a set sequence. The point here is they had a rinnegan courtesy of their owner's chakra. And what gave you the impression that it was after Obito dies that he carried out that plan? There are tons of instances where chakra carry on the will of its owner.

So ultimately he'll still be far stronger than a normal shinobi cos he used to be a juubi jinchuriki. That's why his chakra possession ish is not on the same level as Hagoromo's. Hagoromo's chakra has been travelling through time for ages.

Be that as it may, you also can't deny the fact that the anime graphics is just not it, they should have worked on the anime as it went on. Naruto anime used to be poor too(but still far better than One piece by a zillion miles) but they kept improving on it. One piece anime is a mighty discouragement. Great stories take time to build up, but what happens when you you've already slept off before concluding one anime episode

GRIMMJOE: kakashi will still retain the mangekyou sharingan. After the war what obito meant by expire is probably that the eye will lost its light or fade away I.e becoming blind expect he get another MS and make his Eternal mangekyou sharingan
