Jarus: When people have lost it, they resort to insult. But it’s OK.
FYI, you dont detest corruption or hate these politicians more than some of us. But some of us only chose to criticize objectively, based on facts.
I have never said Ajimobi did not steal as governor. I only said it is possible to have these assets as at 2011 when he declared them. Simply based on information, facts and logic. No oh, he didn't steal a kobo. Remember, he made N100bn as a Shell staff |

Bunch of *loyal defenders* justifying why their looters should own the assets they own. Why not sell all you have as well and hand them over to their families in addition? Don't just sell your past, sell your futures too.
Rubbish. |

leaculpa: Its clearly written there dt he owns an oil company too. So he was definitely no longer a salaried employee. With all these assets he is still not as rich as most big players in the oil sector. Do you know how much dapo abiodun is worth?
Also its been rumoured that he owns a refinery in Lebanon through his wife's family. I don't know how true dt is but I don't doubt it. Yes, infact, he owned the world. Mschew. Please stop quoting me, I'm done with stupid conversations for the day. You people can continue defending your govt officials while they loot your commonwealth to stupor. It's your loss. You are the ones without 24 hour light, security, good education or hospitals. So carry on, knock yourselves out. |

It’s all these unrealistic expectations that push Nigerians to steal in private and public employment. Everyone is thinking with their big position they must be earning a big salary. baby124: You are probably too lazy to realize that you cannot get mortgage in the US and UK like that. You think mortgage is available to everyone? Ajimobi that did not live in the US in 26yrs. You people just support rubbish. No knowledge of what you are talking of. Educate yourself on the credit system and credit requirements in these countries. It takes years of building your credit rating to be qualified for a mortgage and you must have employment in the country where you are requesting mortgage. You think we are all fools here? Good point. I can speak for the UK that non-resident mortgages are almost non-existent. It's typically cash sales for such purchases. Non-UK citizens often have difficulty accessing mortgages to buy property in the UK due to the strict and inflexible lending criteria of many high street lenders. They think everywhere is Nigeria where wuru wuru is the order of the day. Banks in the West have to verify the source of the deposit and ensure no money laundering is taking place, which is why most Naija politicians buy cashdown to avoid scrutiny. Mofos. |

Jarus: If I owned a house 5 years of working, 5 in 12 years of working, I can have those if I reach CEO level, retire to start my own companies, including an oil company (Network Petroleum - read that news well). Plus after one term as senator. This was Ajimobi’s profile as at that declaration in 2011. You choose to let sentiment becloud your thinking. It still doesn't ADD UP. It's not rocket science. Others familiar with the industry already shared the facts as well. Maybe you are already planning your future looting, good luck to you, just know that Nigerians are not smiling any longer. |

Jarus: Ma’am, I’m in my mid-30s and not a very high ranking person in the industry. God willing, by the time I rise to become CEO like Ajimobi, retire to start 2 companies and serve as one time senator (Ajimobi’s profile as at the time he declared this in 2011), I will have these o.
I have many Ogas that have up to 7 houses with at least one in the UK or US. And they are not even GMs yet not to talk of CEO.
Mentioned that case just to look at the trajectory. Please, you are not comparing apples with apples. I understand you being aspirational, that's good BUT the precise example you gave of 5 houses in 3 states in Nigeria compared to 1.5m usd house in US, £450k UK plus N252m in the bank is far from being a valid comparison. |

traihit: The security our politicians enjoy (the citizens' readiness to always defend them) is what makes it difficult for them to do what is right. Amaechi said he should be stoned if he doesn't live to expectations yet, his party arrests anyone who say anything they find insulting. Imagine a Nigeria where everybody goes against these individuals at the same time? How much can the armed forces defend them? But even here on Nairaland, you'd see youths who after spending 6 years in schools, graduating without getting a good job, will still be singing their praises. It's sad to say but affliction is somehow wired into the brain of the average Nigerian. That's why he only barks when he's most pained. As an example, see the voltron above spelling expatriate as expertrate and floored as flawed, amongst numerous other blunders in his comments. Yet, he is vehemently defending someone whose kids went to the best schools overseas and got the best education. That is the Nigeria we live in. |

traihit: This is just the point! I'm a good fan of Ajimobi because I've heard him talk several times and I respect his intellect, boldness in carrying out government's policies, and his efficiencies. But to defend his wealth while I'm yet to get a major foothold in life is something I'd never do. He has children who have enjoyed and are still enjoying his wealth, they should come and defend him. It's a good thing to be passionate about politics but it's terrible to deify politicians, that's the easiest way to make them misbehave. The present governor himself needs to be careful. The system already provides loopholes for them to loot the state. Exactly. So many loopholes and that is what we should be focused on as a people, how to close these holes and ensure money meant for the country is used for the country. I am not a fan of any politician whether this man or the present one, what I find annoying are those trying to defend him at any cost. Look at the current state of Nigeria. Haba! Can people please have some sense for goodness sake? |

Amotekun777: Again, that Nigeria is this bad isn't really surprising with millions of ignorant folks like you.
Even a director of a multinational oil company in western worlds can't boast of such assets and liquid capital ONLY in Nigeria.
This is exactly the reason why these politician fools keep taking you ignorant ones in Nigeria for granted. Wake dude, wake up! Exactly - liquid capital. A substantial part of the 8m compensation is performance shares. *The CEO's base salary was around £1.4million and he received more than £6million from a long-term performance share plan.Besides, the 8m usd the defender is shouting about is pre-tax meaning the take home pay is nowhere close. But an ignorant person usually does not know their level of ignorance. |

Jarus: I have only worked in the oil and gas industry as an employee for 12 years and only became a manager recently, and my company is not one of the top 15 oil companies in Nigeria.
If I get government position today, I have 5 houses (in 3 states) to declare. I'm still in my 30s. It may have reached 7 by 40 (Allah willing).
Guys, this is possible for someone who rose to become CEO of an oil company. And he made this declaration in his 60s. Uncle, we are talking about high priced houses in the UK and US denominated in foreign currencies, in addition to numerous ones in Nigeria, in addition to N292.4M, you are talking about houses in 3 states (I presume in Nigeria) - this your comparison clearly holds no water. Comparing houses in Nigeria to overseas. Please. |
